  1. I totally understand and thanks for your help! I just ran some high stress missions and had no issues at all. Temps were fine... GPU 58c, CPU 68c. Going to try Enigma for multiplayer stress. Maybe it was a fluke last night. I can't find any program that shows temps and usage in the VR headset other than fpsVR which works only through SteamVR. I am using OpenXR and don't want to use Steam. Anyway, just hoping that it was some sort of fluke. If it does happen again I will try all of your suggestions (I probably should regardless and will do so in future, but for now, I just want to enjoy my new toy. I thank you all very much for your help and suggestions.
  2. Yes. About a year ago and no problems. I agree that the voice recognition is unlikely. It was where the DCS log file was pointing though. It is probably due to system stress. I'm going to run some high usage missions and I have temps and cpu / gpu usage shown through MSI Afterburner / HWinFO64. I do have settings pretty high. I suspect the CPU. What's the best stuff to turn down in settings to reduce CPU load?
  3. Power off, no reset. CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X MOBO - Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX Memory - G.Skill DDR5-6000 (2 ea 32Gb) Graphics card - PNY GeForce RTX 4080 Storage - 2 each 2TB P3 NVMe PCIe 3.0 M.2 Internal SSD VR - Pimax Crystal using OpenXR latest build OS - Mindows 11 Pro 64 bit PSU - FOCUS-GX-1000 Gold No overclocking or any other modifications. Is there a program that will make a log of system temps in order to still be able to see them post crash? I have Core Temp but don't see how to keep a log.
  4. I just recently installed a Pimax Crystal. Everything was working fine for a couple days but last night I had a complete PC crash (powered off). Looking at @Flappie's DCS log troubleshooting it was due to Windows and only MSCTF.dll was present in the log. I use both VoiceAttack and SRS currently and have used Viacom in the past (Viacom was difficult to completely remove, it seemed to leave crumbs all over the place). I need both VoiceAttack and SRS and am reluctant to remove the one voice recognition profile that I've found. Any suggestions besides removing VA and SRS?
  5. @razo+r Do you mean my profile icon? I can't find anything named attachments. Would you mind posting a screenshot? NVM, Found it.
  6. Depicting Fw190A-3 Wk. Nr. 313 of Stab III./JG2, flown by Adjutant, Oblt. Arnim Faber who after shooting down a Spitfire flown by by Sergeant Trejtnar of 310 Squadron (Czech) RAF mistakenly landed at RAF Pembrey in South Wales on 23 June 1942. Includes three versions, two in Luftwaffe markings pre-capture (Luftwaffe markings has one with and one without swastika) and one post capture after being repainted in RAF colors / markings and given the RAF serial number MP499 and a 'P' for prototype. Interesting that they retained the "Fighting Gamecock" emblem of III./JG2. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3336379/

  7. Rgr, thanks for the reply!
  8. Interesting... Does it still work? In VR? If so, can you give a bit more detail as to where to put the script, how to connect it to DCS and the peripheral (mouse or PointCtrl)? Can it possibly break the game or mouse / PointCtrl?
  9. With respect but my opinion... How much did this decision to rely on just one livery maker "greatly streamline" the process? Eliminated a vote by the team? I have participated in two of the more recent skin competitions and found it more than impressive to see the quality of most of the submissions. There were certainly "personalities" in the different skins from each livery maker. Are you looking to have a more monolithic batch of skins by having them made by just one maker? If so, you would have been better off not mentioning any name, call the competition off and just hire your chosen artist. That's normal business practice and I don't think that anyone would object to that. By publicly announcing @lee1hyas the sole artist, I feel that you have done him a disservice and opened up some feelings of resentment (understandable) by other talented livery makers. His skins are very good through all of the modules that he has worked on. They may not be absolutely perfect but whose are? Mine are certainly not. I have no dog in this race since I haven't (yet) made any F-16 skins. I refrain from making any comments about any F-16 skins. Perhaps a lesson for the future? I do hope that the future you will still hold skin competitions. I think that it furthers our sense of community as skin makers and I certainly have a sense of pride seeing my creations in the official game.
  10. This livery depicts a Douglas A-20B-DL, SerNo. 41-3665, Code: #72 of the 86th BS, 47th BG, 12th AF based at Youks-les-Bains airfield, Algeria, 6 January 1943. (In the attached photograph, 41-3157 is the aircraft with only the tail showing. A generic version with Bort numbers enabled is included. Place in \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\A-20G. (Create an A-20G folder if you don't have one). The 47th Bomb Group moved to Algeria beginning mid-December 1942 and completed the move in early January 1943. The unit began operations by flying low-level missions against the enemy in North Africa. When Axis forces broke through at Kasserine Pass in Feb 1943, the 47th Group, though undermanned and undersupplied, flew eleven missions on 22 Feb to attack the advancing armored columns and thus to help stop the enemy's offensive - an action for which the group was awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation (DUC). The group remained in action in the Mediterranean theatre in Malta and Italy until V-E Day. From late 1944, the Group was flying several configurations of the A-20 and the A-20's big brother, the Douglas A-26.

  12. Depicting Fw190A-5 (W.Nr. 0152676), pilot unknown, Coded KM + EY of III/SKG10, captured at El Aouina, Tunisia, May 1943. Includes two versions, one with and one without swastika. Place in \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Fw-190A8. (Create an Fw-190A8 folder if you don't have one).
  13. Depicting Fw190A-4 (W.Nr. 142327) flown by Oberleutnant Fritz Schröter, Gruppenkommandeur of III./SKG10 based in La Fauconnerie, Tunisia, during March 1943. Includes four versions, two each Schröter's and two each SKG10 generic with Bort numbers enabled. Each version has one with and one without swastika. Place in \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Fw-190A8. (Create an Fw-190A8 folder if you don't have one). Schröter served on almost all fronts, beginning with Jagdgeschwader 2 on the Channel Front, before moving on to the Mediterranean theatre as commander of a ground-attack unit, and then spending several months in jail after a court-martial. After release he returned to air operations on the hard-pressed Eastern Front until the end of the war. Schröter achieved 11 air victories in over 400 operational sorties. He survived the war and died December 14th, 2007.
  14. Depicting Fw190A-3 (W.Nr. 0140750) flown by Adolf Dickfeld, Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 2 based in San Pietro, Italy in November 1942. Includes two versions, one with and one without swastika. Place in \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Fw-190A8. (Create an Fw-190A8 folder if you don't have one). Despite flying combat missions with JG 52 during the Phoney War, the Battle of Britain, and the Battle of Crete, Adolf Dickfeld did not open his account until Operation Barbarossa by downing two Soviet bombers on 26JUN41. He continued to score steadily against the Soviets, downing five I-15 on 23 October and being credited with another 11 victories in one day on 08MAY42. He scored his 100th victory on 18MAY42, for which he was awarded Knight’s Cross with Oak Leaves. Dickfeld was reassigned to the Mediterranean Theater in November 1942, where he flew the Fw 190 as Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 2 from San Pietro, Italy. Subsequently he was assigned as Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 11 and then held several staff positions. He was officially credited with 136 aerial victories on 1,072 combat sorties. His last victory was a P-47 while flying an He 162 Salamander, one of only a handful of victoried credited to the type. Adolph Dickfeld survived the war, he passed away in 2009 at the age of 99. 15. Bump... the new, more visible cursor in update 2.9.3.51704 is great but please de-link it from head movement (or make that an option).
  16. Many modules have gaps in the Training Mission menu. For example, there is nothing specifically for radar operation in the F-16. The AMRAAM tutorial states "I assume that you are familiar with the operation of the radar.. see pages ... thru ... in the manual".
  17. This! Please! Maybe open it up to talented Mission Builder users and have their missions incorporated into the game (after review of course) and give them some rewards like is done for Livery competitions.
  18. Many sticks / throttles have rotary encoder dials (my Virpil CM3 throttle has several). Encoders work by sending pulses. I would think that all you have to do is map the encoder as a single button press. When you rotate the dial, multiple button presses will be sent. I don't use this as I have VoiceAttack set-up for "Eject, Eject, Eject". Unfortunately, my Wife knows this and has snuck up behind me and yelled "Eject, Eject, Eject"...
  19. I have XRNeckSafer and can't do without it due to physical mobility issues. I'm very grateful to @NobiWan for supplying this software and continuing to support it. I'm just worried each time there's a DCS update that it will get broken. Please make it (or something similar) an integral part of DCS.
  20. Per the Tomshardware link from @Cab Wouldn't the bricking of one's headset qualify as a "known hardware incompatibility" and an "outstanding issue"? Systems with known hardware incompatibilities will be pushed to the back of the update line, to allow for software/driver updates to address outstanding issues. "There's a sucker born every minute", that's what you're thinking?
  21. Yes, I know but thanks.
  22. True and I don't expect that, but the learning curve is steep. They help to get past the early stumbles and open the door to learning more of the finer points. In the F-16 I'm currently trying to learn the radar (I don't have much experience in the other similar US planes either). There are about 70 pages on radar in Chucks guide. Going back and forth between the manual and the game is frustrating enough that I'm giving up for tonight after about 3 hours. A tutorial would have gotten me past the basics. The tutorial on the UFC was very helpful and I have a basic handle on that system. Why is there a blank in the F-16 tutorials which jump from the UFC to AIM 9s with nothing on radar? Doesn't make any sense to me.
  23. Unfortunately, that's the case due to my particular set-up. My HOTAS is connected to the machine that is dedicated to VR. I can view DCS on the other machine but can't control anything. BTW, as a mechanic for 25 years (as well as a private pilot) in RL, I wouldn't dream of doing a complex operational check without a printed copy (or later on, a laptop or Ipad) of the pertinent section of the Maintenance Manual with me in the cockpit, even if it's a procedure that I'm well familiar with. But, that's right there with you, not a separate entity while you're in a VR bubble.
