You should be able to copy controls from C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/Mods/Aircraft/F14/Input/Keyboard/F14-RIO/default.lua and add them to the pilot keyboard .lua Trouble is, you can't see the DDD! So all you can do is hook targets on the HSD. I do not know if disrupting his work flow breaks Jester at some point, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. Fair warning, I tried doing the opposite so that I could fly the plane from the back seat and get some practice as RIO, but this doesn't work in multiplayer. (Not that I failed integrity check, but you aren't allowed to spawn in an aircraft as RIO. The pilot has to spawn first. And the plane despawns when the pilot leaves) Also, you have to be careful of how many commands you add to your controls. Make sure you have backup, because too many commands and axis can break your control scheme. I suggest trying Viacom Pro with Voice Attack (Bailey's profile might be good too, but I haven't tried it)

LoL The irony that Wags would announce mark points the day after I ask! Oh well. Thanks for the tips. I thought I could somehow use TOO on a JDAM to make new waypoints. The coordinates on the TGP will update a weapon station's coordinate data, but I wasn't sure if you could take that coordinate and feed it back as a waypoint without manually entering it.
-
2V1 you and your wingman notch in opposite directions and flank him. If you're really feeling frisky , you alternate altitude as well!

Is there an quick and efficient way to use TOO mode to mark multiple target waypoints with the TGP? Coming from the A-10C, I'm spoiled with the ability to easily create mark points. I will fly outside of a target area, place mark points at enemy target locations and points of interest. This way I can drop most of my ordinance in one quick run, kill high priority targets, and keep track of targets to share with wingmen. I realize the F18 doesn't have mark points, but is there a way to achieve a similar workflow and use the TGP to create new waypoints on the fly?

How is Jester AI going to interact with/use the LANTERN pod?
-
If the Devil Dog mission is any indicator, it's going to be pretty good.
-
For PVE the Viggen is probably the best wild weasel platform out there. I'm not sure how effective the ECM pod is, but the countermeasure pod can carry a crazy amount of chaff and flare. Along with being fast, maneuverable, and a small target, it's very good at the job. Its only downside is the RWR. It takes some time to get used to ID all of the different tones :music_whistling:

Funny, I only payed about 10$ dollars for the module to start with. I got it on some crazy 90% off sale. They got their money's worth in the end. After learning the A10C I was hooked.

Is there a way to make a shortcut that runs the game in flat screen settings and one that runs in VR settings? The only way to switch to flat screen for mission editing, ect is to launch the game in VR seems to be to launch VR and then the game, and then to navigate through the options to disable VR. This is kind of a pain in the butt when I just want to tweak some things in the mission editor or look at a recording. Can I change graphics presets/settings outside of game?

Honestly not trying to troll. I just wanted to point out the harrier is only 3 or 4 Mouse clicks to start the engine. I couldn’t remember if the harrier has auto start, but I might be thinking of the Tomcat.
-
Not to hijack this thread with another. “Start the engine yourself,” post but... The harrier is easy to start. I get it is intimidating to manual start multiple modules, but aircraft need the same systems to get running. Battery, fuel, and a way to crank the engine. Your modern birds have some extra NAV/computer stuff like INS alignment, but they are still much the same The harrier start procedure is as simple as that. Battery>fuel>fuel cutoff>APU>starter switch. Then flip the up the idle cutoff and move the throttle. After that it’s as simple as turning on your MFDs, HUD and aligning. I highly recommend the shorter 1 min tutorial videos out there. They are to the point and don’t waste your afternoon with tons of excess information. It helps to use a checklist, but once you started one jet you can pretty much start them all. Also, starting them yourself helps you get familiar with the cockpit and systems, so you will better know what to do in an emergency.

Trying to purchase via my WWII Backer pledge
NakedSquirrel replied to Rocky49's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
Are you sure it says you have the backer status for the number of aircraft selected? After ED took over the WW2 project, they adjusted the backer rewards. This was ages ago (I couldn't find the old announcement) If you look on the top of the WW2 backers section it should say how many planes you can claim. After they are selected, you should be able to pick up serial numbers from that section of the site. -
Thanks. Deleted. Still haven't had black screen issues since removing MSAA... the only downside is not having any AA x.x
-
I'm also getting this in the air, depending on the mission. I was trying out the Piercing Fury campaign, but it is unplayable due to all the black distortion that takes over the screen I am also noticing some objects (ships, clouds) render only in one eye at certain LOD distances. I think this is an unrelated issue tho. Turning off MSAA seemed to work for me. What is FXO btw? FXAA?
-
Probably. You can adjust the resolution in SteamVR to whatever you like, or whatever gets you the most comfortable framerate.

I had similar issues before I took these steps. Especially the loss of 6dof in both this game and IL2. I would recommend trying to put something up on your walls before you give up and send it in. Even if it's just painter's tape. Besides just pictures on my walls, I also added a throw rug, because my carpet is one solid color. The cameras for tracking aren't great quality. You can 'see through' the cameras by using the WMR controllers to pull up a 'spotlight view' . Hope that helps. The headset is great when it works, but it has definitely been more of a chore to get working than the O.G. Vive

This might have been asked of you before, but do you have bare walls and a monotone carpet or are there picture frames, bookshelves and other clutter? I've done two things to help with my tracking: 1. Wall clutter: I moved a few paintings to make sure every wall had at least one piece of contrast on it. There was one wall in particular, if I looked in that direction too long, the headset would lose tracking. 2. I switched from a fluorescent light bulb to an LED light bulb. () Tracking seemed good during the day, but at night, I would lose tracking when looking in some areas. I tried moving my lights around to make sure my space was well lit, but nothing seemed to work. Unrelated to VR, I was reading about light bulbs, because for whatever reason, light bulbs popped up as a political issue in the US. Not going to go into politics, but I realized I was using a compact fluorescent light bulb. Fluorescent light has a narrow spectrum of color distribution compared to incandescent and LED light. Long story short, I swapped to an LED light bulb and have had almost no tracking loss ever since. It might not be "brightness" that was the issue. I think some of it had to do with the wavelength. The only other thing that might affect tracking could be how far you are from your monitor. I have a fairly big screen (giggity) if the Reverb cameras are too close and can't see any of the monitor frame, I'll sometimes lose tracking.

Does anyone have good settings/recommendations for recording VR gameplay with DCS? I've tried a variety of settings in OBS, but I tend to get VR capture with either an oddly low frame rate(in the video not the game), distortion, or ultra low quality. The best method I've found is to record the entire desktop with Nvidia shadowplay, but the game video is obviously 1/3 the screen width, and if I try to clip the image, it is obviously too pixelated.

Jester: most frustrating flight sim experience ever !
NakedSquirrel replied to jojo's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Vaicom Pro helps a lot for using Jester in VR (and using Jester in general) I haven't had as many issues with Jester, but I do a lot of micromanaging. I'll tell him altitude, vector and ranges to scan depending on where we are and where the threat is. I do not know if the option is in the radial menu, but I have most luck telling Jester to 'lock bogie/target' ahead vs 'bandit' because Jester is slow to IFF enemy targets and mark them on the TID. He doesn't seem to recognize targets that are datalink labeled as enemy. He needs to IFF interrogate them himself and confirm. This kind of makes sense. As the RIO you have to use the AWG-9 radar to STT targets, and the AWG-9 display does not show datalinked IFF, it's just raw radar. When I'm playing the RIO, I just spam STT lock targets until I find the datalink one. Usually I can guess which one will pick up the datalink enemy, but it can be a little tricky with multiple targets. Jester isn't quite that sophisticated. Basically you're telling Jester to look at the AWG-9 radar and pick the closest bandit he can see. It would be nice if you could use the TID to lock a target, but the system isn't designed that way. The other advice I'd give is to keep your distance from the combat area. The AWG-9 is a powerful radar, take advantage of it. Plus you'll lose SA the closer you get. -
Devs we need a period of Glasnost! Transparency
NakedSquirrel replied to LupinYonder's topic in MiG-21Bis
Probably nothing new that's ready to be reported. Leatherneck had a pretty long update on the Mig21 roadmap in August https://leatherneck-sim.com/2019/10/27/autumn-wind/ I think they are still on "stage 1" or beginning of "stage 2" We should hopefully get another update sometime this Spring. Looking back, Hiromachi still replying to bug fixes almost daily. So they're still plugging away, but they don't have any exciting updates to share yet. -
You can easily use a notch or two (or 3) in combat. Sure it bleeds speed, but it helps you achieve higher AOA in your turns without stalling. I wouldn't go past 3 notches on flaps. You start to lose the benefit, and if you're flying that slow you'll cook the engine anyhow.

Game never had this feature. I’ve been able to go as far as walking out on the wing with my Headset on.
