  1. LABS can be used for an "idiot's loop" weapon delivery profile, yes, The screenshots that were posted of the F-86 cockpit had LABS controls. So I suppose that means the answer's yes.
  2. While we haven't been explicitly told that, it's almost definite that it will be full AFM (now called PFM)
  3. You know there's a beer festival on in Cambridge at the same time? I'm going to make a 3 day weekend of it.
  4. I'll be interested to know if DK2 is a sufficient resolution to read panel text and to search for targets outside the pit. If so then I'm on board.
  5. You ought to Czech your facts mate :D
  6. It's still in beta, these are things that I expect to change for the final release. Good work pointing them out though, I hadn't noticed half of these. I'll never be able to unsee the overflowing reticule now...
  7. Yasssss, that's what we like, proper campaign. Thanks Cobra!
  8. Having never used the auto-rudder I didn't know that it did anything after takeoff...
  9.
  10. I don't have much knowledge to contribute to the topic but I will say: Discussions like this make me VERY excited for the F-18C given that it will be built from the ground up to simulate these systems in exacting detail and I'm hugely optimistic about learning them and interacting with them myself rather than letting an FC3 style interface simplify it for me.
  11. I think most of the Iraqi MiG-21s had English text. Not sure about the MiG-29s
  12. Mmm, I thought so too. Never mind, I'm sure we'll have enough to do in it from player made missions and campaigns.
  13. I assumed that they don't move on the ground because the hydraulic pressure isn't sufficient to move them when not powered up. But I don't think I ever checked if they then function when the aircraft is powered up. If not then yeah probably we need that.
  14. Oh man I'd love to but I won't have the car. I've tried to deal with a trip to Cambridge and public transport around Duxford before and it's so awkward. HOWEVER!: I think the guys that run the Battle of Britain/ cold war hangar ought to get that MiG-21 in there running. Imagine seeing that in the air!
  15. http://www.leatherneck-sim.com/team/ A handsome collection of human beings you have there. I hope the pilot model is based on Novak, I want to simulate his distinguished facial hair almost as much as I want to simulate a supersonic intercept mission.
  16. I've seen it claimed a few times that a fluke of the design meant that it's weirdly manoeuverable at high AoA, I don't know how much truth there is to that. It's certainly a very fast aicraft with a high power to weight ratio, especially for its time and its low drag airframe *should* make it decently quick to accelerate at least compared with its contemporaries. Visibility and stability will be a problem, longitudinal stability with a heavy load is said to be quite dismal and unequally distributed loads are almost not worth flying with. There were problems with drop tanks not being ditched properly generating an asymmetric load which has been responsible for problems. I don't know if that caused any crashes but it would probably persuade you to RTB. Visibility will certainly be an interesting problem, I've seen the way they've implemented it in DCS and it's quite a painless process, using the provided periscope. All the best fighters have periscopes right?
  17. Yeah, it's definitely a bug and I'd love to see it fixed but my expectations are quite low/realistic.
  18. I imagine that this will end up fixed when carriers are overhauled and not before. Of course nobody knows when that will happen only that it makes sense for a F-18C in the future.
  19. I cannot wait to smash myself into the deck attempting this manoeuvre.
  20. I think the decision has already been made mate. I am excited to learn what the future holds for Leatherneck.
  21. Ah I see. I didn't know that DCSW could already do that, that's cool.
  22. Definitely up for playing with R4Ms Also the X4 wire guided "rocket"..
  23. The problem with this solution is that you're committing 20% of all of the Ka-50 assets that exist in the world, I prefer a solution that seems plausible given the very limited deployment of Ka-50s IRL. When we get our Mi-24 we can emulate the tactics employed in Afghanistan to the enjoyment of everyone involved. That will be a good day.
  24. If I have sane commanders 12 soldiers would be sent into a situation with relatively low intensity resistance so I would take IR suppressors (in case of MANPADS), extra armour (should be resistant to most small arms) and UPK-23-2 gunpods only in addition to the 12 soldiers. As for fuel I would give myself enough for the trip there and the trip back (at full weight) plus a 20 minute reserve for diversions/ emergencies. I don't think I should need more but that loadout probably is light enough to let me equip some rocket pods if I should need them.
  25. I'm interested in exactly how GCI will work as well, is it a matter of following some headings and altitudes over the radio or is there some ILS style bars on the ADI or what?
