  1. Good Day Current Hill, I have not installed your version of the Ticonderoga yet, but I have a question about it. Did you increase the texture resolution of that model by chance? The base model is accurate in in shape but the default DCS textures of that model always left a bit to be desired. If you did not do anything with the textures, could you please upgrade those for your model? It would also be a nice bullet point to add on your website for that model. As a side note (Probably not possible): It would be cool to add the experimental Blue Bottom of the USS Port Royal Thank You for your consideration, -Preston
  2. I have a question for you CurrentHill. When you make a mod, do you make use of the DCS "Service Date" feature? (I am no sure what to call it) You know, the timestamp feature of the mission editor that filters out vehicles and/or objects by introduction to service date. Question two, if I was willing to purchase the 3d model of the Flight 1 and FLIGHT 2 Arleigh Burkes, would you be up for completing them to add to your inventory? -Woog
  3. I 2nd that notion, I can't wait for an updated Sprucan/Kidd class. I love black masted 1970's-80's USN fleets. -Woog
  4. Speaking of……Until ED fixes the opacity of the water, I think all ship hulls should be painted black from the waterline down. What say you?
  5. I'm not sure how I missed these amazing mods for this long! I can't wait to get home from work D/L and install the aircraft. Any chance you guys might be up for a mod to RAZBAM's mod KC-130? I would love to see an HC-130H/P even without the Fulton recovery gear working. -Woog
  6. Good Day Roughmaster, Any chance that these skins will be compatible with the IDF mods version with their Tail and/Or CFT's? Your work looks Amazing! -Woog
  7. Thank you for your input Mars, I am glad you put the time and effort into your response. A couple of points that I would like to make. 1) We already have maps for all of the current hotspots of the world. Either in our hands or on short final (Afghanistan). 2) As the premise of my version of the proposed map is Circa 1985, the Soviet Union was still alive and kicking. At this time they very much had a Bluewater Navy with assault craft very comparable to the United States in capability. This is very much a nostalgia map proposal that would allow service members and Fans of US Air Power to relive their glory days operating out of bases that no longer exist in the real world. It would give many of our Aircraft the home base that they currently do not have. Overall, this would be a fun map, which is why I play DCS, for an enjoyable way to pass time. Campaign makers could tap into the 1980's California vibe of hot cars, good music, Palm trees, and beautiful tan lines. The USSR could be hell bent on destruction of that Carefree Capitalist way of life. I mean there are so many possibilities. The other two Historical maps that are needed is Vietnam and Cold War Fulda Gap/Germany. I am pretty sure ED has an outline for both of these already. -Woog
  8. @LanceCriminal86Good Day Sir, after seeing your completed Maverick skins, I stopped working on mine altogether. Bravo Sir. I do wonder if you will be doing Iceman as well? The only one currently available is not very good. Your attention to detail would be most welcome on that front. -Woog
  9. For me I would prefer to have a complete merger of the two existing maps, so that I only have the one map after I hit install. NineLine has stated that it’s unclear at this time how the assets will be managed and what the implementation will look like in its completed form. I wish people would read through all the comments before they post questions because a lot of times you’ll find the answer you seek without wasting your energy. -Woog
  10. @Andrew This is a limitation of DCS water currently. Your solution would work as a bandaid to make things look a bit more realistic. Although in the real world, the “Hull Red” color does turn quite dark over time with the growth of algae and ocean life. So one could say it is not a band Aid at all. I wish we had whole ship 2d style planform textures rather than the “sample” style of color only. Then we could really get to making custom paints some a little more clean, others used and abused. -Woog
  11. Aloha Sir, I think you can see what I’m saying, as a direct comparison with Tarawa. The deck textures of America look really nice. The Hull texture for the US Navy ships should all have the same color of Grey. Since we can’t change the Default ships (which look pretty accurate IMHO) we should be trying to match them as best as possible. This is why I wondered about sampling their existing texture color? -Woog P.S. Your wakes look really nice, beautiful work!
  12. Hello friends, It’s been a while since I’ve perused this thread, I am amazed to see how much work the Admiral has been doing. As it turns out there’s quite a few of you that have been helping to make the mods even better. I had a question about textures, specifically on a few of the US Navy ships. It seems that color is a little bit dark, which is probably an easy fix. The bigger question that I wonder about the lack of actual texture: IE weld lines and hull plates, oil canning, rust, etc. if anyone would be so kind to answer……..is the main hull color just one simple color swatch? Would there be a way to add some of the features I mentioned, you know a little bit a grit? The ships are great, and an amazing addition to our simulator. Just a small question not a complaint. I’m wondering if the default ED textures from say the OHP or even the newer Burke could be utilized? Ref: AMERICA, Oak Hill, Kidd, etc. -Woog
  13. As an American I absolutely agree with you, sadly I don’t think it will happen or be a priority with DCS in its current sandbox Simulation form. As other people have said here the combat portion of our gameplay dictates the current map production. Once the base DCS engine goes to a full global model, then I think you will find that these regions become much more popular. You never know though with ORBX entering the fray, their true earth regions could become very prevalent in DCS. The caveat to that being, I believe Eagle dynamics approached ORBX to create the map for them. Whether ORBX wants to continue and release maps for a combat simulator remains to be seen. For me Personally the dream, is 1985 SoCal at the height of the Cold War. -Woog
  14. I think it is time to revisit this map Idea. With ORBX finally entering the pool so to speak, this could potentially open the flood gates with their True Earth product line. Using the existing ORBX True Earth SoCal product to Rewind the calendar slightly (Pre-1990), and now you have a map that supports a ton of aircraft with home bases. The Following should have precedence as "Hi Detail" bases to support existing modules: NAS Miramar F-4, F-8, F-14, F-5, A-4, E-2ai, George AFB F-4E, F-4Fai, F-4Gai, OV-10A, MCAS El Toro A-6E, F- 4B/N, F-4J/S, RF-4Bai, F-8 A-4, OA-4M, F/A-18, C-130, MCAS Yuma AV-8B, F-5, NAS Lemoore A-7E, F/A-18, Edwards AFB. Slightly less detailed bases to support training operations and support potential future modules should include: NAS North Island SH-2Fai, SH-3H, SH-60Bai CH-46, S-3ai, C-2ai, C-9ai, MCAS Camp Pendelton AH-1W, UH-1N, CH-46, OV-10D, Los Alamitos AAF AH-1S, UH-1H, UH-60, AH-64, CH-47. Finally some basic detail bases that are on the map and could support multiple different scenarios NAS Point Mugu, NAF El Centro, MCAS Tustin, NAF Imperial Beach, NAF China Lake, NTC Fort Irwin, Vandenberg AFB, and USAF Plant 42 at Palmdale. Finally I would like to add, there’s a whole Lot of ocean out there, and a little portion of Mexico on this map. This is not just a training map it is also very much open for Red Dawn type scenarios. 15. Japo, your Normandy map is a little off. When you look at how much the two Europe maps already overlap it makes for a perplexing situation. My hope is that ED has some foresite here and just merges the two maps as Ugras is about ready to swallow the channel whole! -Woog
  16. @Tomcatter87As seems to happen quite a lot........Oh look a Squirrel! On a serious note though, life happens. There was a murder in my apartments, and we scrambled to get packed and find a house to move into. Just last week got my PC set back up. I hope to resume the Garuda Soon.
  17. Good day Admiral, Have you considered requesting to ED to create an “official” Naval assets pack? Similarly to what Deka Ironworks did with the Chinese stuff? It seems to me like there is a need for US Navy specific assets pack, and you just keep on pumping out beautiful models! -Preston
  18. Yes this is unfortunate when modelers don’t smooth the polygons in 3ds Max.
  19. The big thing that Dev’s need to think about here is: could the weapon be carried, not was it ever carried. If it was cleared for use by China Lake, then it should be available for our use. -Rune
  20. Good day Admiral, About the carriers, that still leaves KittyHawk class boats and of course the famous USS Enterprise. Personally that is a carrier that really needs to be a thing in DCS. If you do a little bit of research, you will find that both “Top Gun” and “The Hunt for Red October” were both filmed on board within a couple years of each other. This time period is the configuration that I would Aim for, CVW-11 with Tomcats, Intruders, and Corsairs on board. Sincerely, Preston
  21. Nils Sir, It is very unfortunate that someone has stolen your work and put them on Turbosquid. Of all the 3D warehouses out there, I thought Turbosquid to be the most reputable. Your models are beautiful, and a number of us were very much looking forward to them being in game. Might I suggest that you and the Admiral team up to offer an “official” Cold War Naval assets pack for DCS. I personally would be happy to pay $50+ dollars for a pack containing a Knox, Belknap, Spruance, Kidd, Virginia or California, Missouri, Los Angeles, and an oiler or two. Basically a late Cold War/Desert Storm Pack. -Preston
  22. Just started an early color bird for use with Sundowners and Screamer Tomcats! VAQ-134 Garudas. Very early WIP. I am also converting to a 4k paint kit as I go. -Preston
  23. Good day Admiral, Have you thought about adding the Newport Class texture to your Oak Hill. It would make the Oak Hill look much closer to reality and also bring a consistent color to your US Navy boats. The Oak Hill is a little too brown in hue currently. Just a couple of thoughts....... -Preston
  24. Hello Eagle Dynamics Team, I was wondering about models Matt Wagner had mentioned are being updated Like the SH-60B and the S-3 viking for example. Could you guys maybe talk about these Ai models in the next update, and also any other models (WWII) that are in work? Maybe an expanded discussion of Ai could be a good update topic? I for one am really curious about Ai flight models, Getting new models in the Sim prior to release of full modules (F-4E), learning more about the tech behind Ai Airport ground routing, etc....... Along this general subject matter, It would be great if we could also discuss Ai Ships and the future plans for the SEA portion of DCS. It would be great to get more US Support ships in the Carrier battle group, and maybe NATO variants of the OHP Australian, Spanish, and other variants. Will undersea Ai and torpedoes be advanced at all. Is there room for Naval Helos which could track, Identify, and attack submerged contacts? I know a pretty broad range of questions, Which boils down to: Can you talk about the future of Ai in the Blue water arena, and maybe expand on you Ai tech while on the subject, please? -Preston
