  1. Ggrewe, I guess you didn't know, WE CAN fly between maps. It requires a slight workaround, but a smoother option from ED is inbound, short of a complete merging of the maps. Also, Personal Opinion here, I think the Afghanistan map is better than Iraq as far as production quality goes. Early days of course, but the building placement and lack of riverbank elevation on the Iraq map leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully they get their object placement algorithm dialed in and these rural areas get fixed in a polishing pass. -Woog
  2. Eagle Dynamics hear us out. Please expand NTTR. Please give us a Low detail expansion all the way to the west coast (Orange border). Please update the existing area to be high detail with your current map tech (Red Border). Please extend the high detail area south to the Mexican border to include San Diego and Yuma (Purple Border). If nothing else please add Fallon to the existing map. Please add the following air bases so that our modules have a true home. Miramar (F-14, F-5, A-4), Yuma (AV-8B, F-5), El Toro (F-4S, F/A-18, A-4), Lemoore (A-7, F/A-18) George AFB (F-4E, OV-10). As a bonus, you could add Edwards AFB for ALL air frames, NAS North Island, and Luke AFB (not pictured) for F-16's. The Orange border is the size of the new Iraq map dimensions. -Woog
  3. You know with ED having the power to approve or deny 3rd party projects in their platform, I am surprised that they have not directed the map production better. If the Syria map boundary were to slide up and over West a bit, and the Sinai were to slide down and West a bit, it would minimize overlap and dual production of airbases. The secondary benefit being that it would cover more territory that is currently omitted. On ED's side of the house, Slide Iraq up to meet the border of the Caucuses map and now we would have no blanks or duplicated work. It seems like this would be beneficial for future proofing in preparation for the global coverage, and/or the ability to merge maps. -Woog
  4. There are a ton of assets that we need for Cold War (Air, Land, Sea) Its the aspect that DCS fails at the most, nothing fits together in time frame. However, if CH started down that road, he would have to change his name to Retrohill.
  5. A quick and dirty deck texture update. The model itself is pretty decent. A couple of things to note: The FLOLS (Meatball) is completely absent. The SPS-49 radar lacks animation, as do the propellors. And then of course the CIWS do not have any gun barrels. I assume that this means the weapons are not currently programmed, I have not tested them yet. Would anyone be interested in the WIP deck textures? -Preston
  6. Good morning Tetet, Wow you guys have been busy! So excited to see the Big E. I’m not sure what your plans are for her? I love the Vietnam stuff but I also love 1980s Cold War era. I was wondering how difficult it would be to remove all the SatCom domes? It would seem that this “simple” act would make the existing model a close approximation for the ‘80’s version? You have mentioned that Enterprise will be a separate mod from the main Vietnam one. I think that everyone would really appreciate having multiple versions of the Big E eventually. A beehive version for Phantoms and Crusaders (a ton of work). The 80’s version for Tomcats and Corsairs, and then the version that you currently have for Bugs and Superbugs. Any way you slice it, your efforts are appreciated and it is So good to have Enterprise in sim Woohoo! -Preston
  7. Toni, you probably didn’t notice the theme here, Currenthill really only does CURRENTly in service mods. You would need to talk to the Admiral about the retro stuff. I like your list though, I prefer the late Cold War stuff myself.

  9. Good Day Brother @uscstaylor I know this thread is aproching a decade old now, but did you ever release the mega pack for the F-16A's? I feel like there is still a place for them as the Ai model is still decent, and fills a void that Eagle Dynamics does not plan to. I love the 80's stuff in particular. -Preston
  10. Good Day friends. There is an altitude variable where Ortho imagery starts to fade out in DCS, and procedural ground textures take over. Is there a back end setting that we as users can change to bring this closer to the ground? Is this a global variable, or one set by the individual map maker? I have seen some YouTube videos that show Kola looking really crisp and almost high res, but that is not the case with my install, even with all UI sliders set to max. I would like to figure out how to make mine look as nice as the Videos portray it. Does the Edge engine in its current state actively adjust visibility algorithms based on individual system specs? For example I am running a 2080ti with only 16 gigs of RAM. I don't have any issues with stuttering, but I am wondering if maybe I might get higher resolution automatically if my specs were better. Your Thoughts please....... -Preston Edit: I have attached a couple of Photos of the apron at Rovaniemi as an example. From Approx. 1,500 AGL you can see that the imagery shows fairly distinct asphalt coloring and individual squares, up close most of it goes away. Another example would be the new bare rock textures that are kind of blurry blobs any closer than 2000 ft away. An Airport is different than general terrain as the dev can manually apply the cracks and squares which have yet to be done at this airport.
  11. Good Day Eagle Dynamics, Would you please consider adding the Radar nose as an option to the model in the future? You have the modeling complete, it could be a nice gesture to give more flexibility with liveries and capability. Adding a FLIR turret like that used by the Canadian variant and others would be nice, but I understand that there would be coding involved to make the turret functional. Even just the visual only option would be nice to have, and relativity easy to re-introduce back onto the model. A If you're game, the extended range serial enhance tanks would be a great option as well. -Preston
  12. @Dweeeeb Good day sir, the mod in its current state as of today 8-14-24, explodes when starting from the apron (Ai). I’m wondering if it would be an easy fix to correct this issue? Love the helicopter it looks great, and is an absolute must for any kind of Vietnam operations. Thank you for your hard work, It is much appreciated. -Preston
  13. I wonder….. If the new AIM-174 is based on the SM-6 (which has anti ship capabilities) if the U.S. reduced its propellant volume by half, and then increased its warhead size by the same ammount 1) would it weigh about the same? And 2 would the less propellant just reduce its range, or would it reduce its speed? You see what I am getting at here? Now I don’t know how much propellant weighs compared to warhead material. What if we had an air launched ASM-174 version with a 100 mile range that maintained Mach 3.5 but had say a 300lb warhead or even better a 400lb warhead. The increased speed alone would have to make the missile more of a successful penetrator than the Harpoon or the NSM. Its kinetic energy could make up for a smaller warhead, and being air launched could make up for a cut in range. @currenthill Is it within your capability to play with the variables of the missile to test my theory? (within the confines of the game of course) random thoughts on my lunch break -Woog Note: the P-8’s wing hard points are rated at 3000lbs a piece. Imagine a P-8 packing these instead of Harpoons.
  14. I would also hope that they add more parking spaces with the ability to shut down all 4 cats and the fantail landing area if those places are occupied and vice versa. They could do it in auto mode, or give us control in PriFly. It could be a simple system, as the last aircraft taxi's clear of a zone, it would automatically turn from red to green. It could default to auto, and if you are in PriFly, you could turn check a box to manual and just keep an area red, which would then allow the deck crew to guide aircraft to park in those areas. -Preston
  15. Statics are not active objects. Live aircraft do not recognize them. On airbases or carriers. Therefore, it is on us to strategically place them not on an Ai Taxi path. With that said, Eagle Dynamics does need to adjust the taxi path from the Aft Starboard elevator. When either aircraft leave this elevator to taxi fwd to the No 1 or 2 Cat, they use the foul line as a centerline. This causes them to clip through any statics that are parked up against the Island. The taxi path should be adjusted towards the centerline so that the Ai wings clear the Helo’s and or Hawkeye that is placed properly. -Preston

  17. Thank you for these Tomcatter! I read that you have a special texture for the Tanker that I assume removes the sonobouy launchers. Would this not be a true S-3B where as the standard model from ED would be more like an S-3A? Please correct me if I am wrong. Really appreciate your beautiful work here. -Woog
  18. Please Ed, remake Nevada with your new tech and add FALLON at the bare minimum. However Edwards and maybe China lake too. All within the bounds of the existing map dimensions. I will gladly pay full price for a new version that looks as good as Afghanistan. -Woog
  19. I really hope Dino (IndiaFoxtEcho) brings in an asset pack. He has a decent E-2C, and C-2 he had released in P3d. Also an A-4/TA-4/OA-4 that would be nice to have.
  20. ED doesn’t even do all of their own 3d models, they hire and/or buy from 3d studios as well. Like you said, it’s an efficient and effective method to manage resources. Check out this studio, a good number of ED’s assets came from here: http://www.precise3dmodeling.com/ ED even showcased the C-17 model some years back advertising it coming in an update that never materialized. I surmise that there was a monetary disagreement. I think 3dReach has done a few DCS models as well. -Woog
  21. Hell yeah! This airframe has been absent from the DCS lineup for far too long. She looks really nice! Any chance you might do some clean skins? When these first showed up on the scene, the USAF took phenomenal care of the paint. As they aged, obviously they started looking like what you have masterfully created here. Thank you again for tackling this aircraft. So very excited to have them in sim. -Woog

  23. Good Day Patricio, @Massun92 I see you have included a tanker truck. I am not sure of the make and model, never seen it before. A Mack K-500 would be another iconic tanker truck from the 1980's that would fit really well with late Phantom and Cold War ops. Another couple of vehicles that would be very welcome to have are Chevy CUCV M1008 and M1009 in the sim.   25. It would be cool if ED would offer some slight Models modifications to better fit those requested paint schemes. (Small mouth, PW Engine, and maybe even an A tail with Chute option) It’s unfortunate that the model that was picked for the full fidelity module is so very US specific. It was previously stated that ED is not interested in making a hybrid model or expanding to include different blocks. Personally, I would absolutely pay for an official, visual only expansion pack for the F-16. To include accurate liveries on the correctly configured exterior model. -Woog
