Oops! Thought I was answering one of the earlier posts, but I see there were a bunch ahead of me!

Actually, there is information on the Saipan Jugs. They were the 318th Fighter Group. They flew their razorbacks on fighter bombing missions, and also interceptions of Japanese planes flying from Iwo Jima. Eventually the unit was given spanking new, long range, P-47N's. They were moved north to the newly captured island of Ie Shima. They flew missions to Japan from there. No bubble canopied P-47D's operated from the Marianas. But they did begin to replace the old razorbacks near the end of the New Guinea campaign. And the also operated out of the Phillipines. As a matter of fact, a Mexican fighter squadron flew them with the 5th Air Force.

Try my settings. I think you'll see that you don't need everythung set to high for this sim to look great.

I fly real, also. I fly instant action a lot. I use the Caucasus map, and Nevada map for the A10. I have a 2 GB Nvidia 860M video card. I'll take a screenshot of my game settings and post it.

And I don't play this with everything set to low. Have no idea how you guys with these up to date setups are having performance issues. I have shadows on. low, but they're on. I think low looks just fine.

No slowdowns, no stutters, here. And I'm playing on a 7 year old AZUS gaming laptop. I don't even get stutters over the Normandy map. They have optimized this sim beautifully, it seems to me.

Since I don't have track IR, and I'm playing it...it isn't. As a matter of fact, I'm not really understanding what the issue is.

Ah, I see. He was showing an example from the old FC2 game. HUD looks right to me. The CDU readouts are blocked by the seat handles, but that just involves leaning over to see. Someone may have realized that that's the way it is on the real one. And ajmilzy, I don't see any problem with the few snapping back. I was zooming back and forth to test that, and it stayed right where I wanted it.

Hmmm.....I can't see what the complaints are about. Not having trouble with the seat placement, gun pippers, narrow HUD..or anything. And that screenshot is the A-10A. Did that get an update, too? I am a DCS Warthog driver and I approve of this update.

"Btw arent take offs performed at full power anyway for any other planes ??" As a RL pilot I can tell you that I've never taken off with anything less than full power. Partial power on take off is a great way to go into a stall when you raise the nose! Why would anyone do that? You push the throttles forward, and you keep your hands on them to prevent any chance of them rolling back on you during take off.

Ooops! Never mind. I spoke (wrote) too soon. Nah...it's still there. Don't know why it didn't happen that first time, but next flight, there it was.

Just took my little Eagle up and when I landed and shut down, I was pleasantly surprised to hear no annoying noise. Glad to see you didn't forget about the little bipe. It's really a fun little airplane.

I just wish we could have some ballpark release date. My flight simming budget isn't high. I swear, I don't know how some of you afford to buy everything that comes out. I'd like to pick up another module, but if this is right around the corner, I'll hold off. I haven't done carriers in DCS, with all of the years I've owned the sim. And I'm talking since it came out! So, it's time. I'd love to grab the F-18 and the corsair and get into some Naval aviation.

We're getting this with an Essex class carrier!!? If you tell me that we're getting an AI Zero, too, then this just became my most anxiuosly awaited flight sim purchase. It was FS 2020, but this just pushed that aside. Maybe, even without the Zero.

Q1 2020? When they said, coming soon, I was hoping that I'd be able to give myself the P-47 for Christmas. Oh well, we've waited this long.....

I must be too easy to please. I enjoy the hell out of flying my Mustang just the way it is.

I'm not big on early access. But, this is a jet I'm having a hard time waiting for. I can accept some issues, but if it's something that makes it very difficult to fly missions with it, I'd rather wait. Are you enjoying this module the way it is? Can you fight in it?

Hmm...I'm reading the bug reports. That HUD and TGP alignment problem sounds like a major issue. Sounds as though navigating and using AG ordnance will be frustrating. I want this, but not if I'm going to be agravated every time I fly it. Hopefully they can fix this stuff soon.

You are steering towards the Viper, boys. The "wait hours on station playing with targeting pods," is good. That is time consuming in the hog, and I have often paused it, so I could have time to set myself up correctly. In one mission, myself and a wingman went after a large group of armored vehicles. I told him to engage targets, and I hadn't yet fired a shot and this guy is saying, "Target destroyed, target, destroyed, target destroyed!" He got 26 of them before I had fired a single maverick! But, anyway, I'm thinking that the F-16 is what I'm going to say when my wife says, "So, what do you want for Christmas?'

I know that may sound like a stupid question. I've gotten proficient in the A-10c and can start 'er up and get all systems cranked up pretty quickly...but it took me a while to finally get there. I didn't think I'd pick up another complex jet. But, the F-16....geeez! I'm having a hard time resisting. Is there a lot more to learn?

AH HA! So the 65H doesn't have IR capabilities. That explains a lot. Thanks.

I'm flying the practice mission, and I can destroy large targets like the bridges with my mavs, but can't locate the tanks no matter how close I zoom. How do I switch to an infra red picture the way I see them doing in trining videos?

Since the P-47 did the same job as the A-1, why not just use the P-47 as a.....P-47?
