Forgive me, I'm not the best in late night translations :megalol: There we come to the point: adding these switches additionally... this would be the opposite of the shortened keyboard layout lists that many people demand... BTW as some people said a user friendly GUI would fall in the hands of ED and seems to be wrong in this thread I have no problem with it as long as there is no "light" mode introduced like: "I" key = turn radar on, switch to AA-SAR weapons and maybe get an IFF check To get back to canopy and switches like pylons I won't follow the most arguments. There is no reason these has to be on a HOTAS. To get the aircraft ready for a fight you have the FENCE check. Like in the A-10 it is too late to programm your weapons setup when the first shells pass your canopy :music_whistling: We should always remember that this is no modern optimized jet nor was it intended by LN. This plane is more than 40 years old and originates from an era where minimized workload for the pilot was a foreign concept. I think there is still no other plane in DCS to compare, that maybe the difference Edit: I think that closes this this theme for myself since everything is said and the decision lies in better qualified hands.
-
No flaming Griffon but you should explain how your Hotas is overwhelmed by the commands. If you don't have it here is a very good solution to use the gear and the flaps on ONE three way button each. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130459 As you may have discovered, most triggers can be used where a first press unflips the cover and the second pulls the button. I will give just an example to think of... Most people in this thread including me are confused about a weapon selector with 11 different switch positions. Now imagine LN fix it to a two key assignment. Up and down. I can imagine it will take not more than a month until the first people are complaining why it takes 6 klicks of a button to switch to their AA weapons in a dogfight.

I understand your problem. It will surely get better with 2.0. But as said the instrument panels produce enough light in my setup to check all relevant switches. You are sure you have all backlights enabled? BTW after some hours in the pit and 20 plus ramp starts you will know the position of each switch and find them blind like a real pilot :joystick: Edit: I added a Screen, as you can see most battle relevant switches are illuminated. Sure, the switches around the gunsight are not optimal but that will change in the future.

Happy New Year from Leatherneck Simulations!
FSKRipper replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Not to mention the Hawk and the C101 which are both two seater jet trainers... Sorry to say so but it would be completely idiotic to have 3 different jet trainers without the possibility two use it in MP. So I hope for a big change with the arrival of the L-39. -
First of all welcome to the forums. Your problems with the internal lights were already discussed in another thread. Please use the bug section to look for reports and post these. The lighting will be fixed in DCS 2.0 as there seems to be a problem with the graphics engine and texture lighting as far as I remember but the experts may correct me. For the flashlight, don't know if you checked the manual but using the flashlight during a coldstart is pretty normal. I personally don't have any problems when all other lights are on, to recognize other switches. Remember this is still a BETA, as Wags alway say work in progress and everything is subject to change :music_whistling:

Thanks for all your outstanding hard work LN team. It was a great year seeing the MiG-21 in the virtual skies. Happy new year to everyone and only today: Drink instead of flying :yay::beer::yay: -
I'm with you as long as we are talking about how to make it more user friendly and can get rid of unneccessary buttons (like the weapon selector). But as you also said here were the first demands in this thread for macros which take parts of this wonderful module and move it to FC3 complexity. This would be the red line for me and as long as nobody could show me a balance option for multiplayer I would be against this kind of development. Btw for the countermeasure thing. When you take of in your A-10 countermeasures won't work until you switch the CMSP out of standby. In all the years nobody had a problem with it. May it be that the wider community through steam lead to these (good and bad) developments?

You speak out of my soul sir!

Don't think so. I use also a three way switch. There are still 3 steps to make and no script is doing the work for you. In the case of radar i simply use the mouse. So your argument works at maximum for the gear lever.
-
I can follow people who are complaining about 11 switches for the weapon selector. Might be cool to only use an up/down variant. But we should draw a line when it comes to things like complex system modeling. There is a good reason why you have to do 3 steps to secure your cockpit. There is also a good reason why a real 21 pilot have to flip at least three switches to sucessfully retract the gear. The radar has also more than a simple off and on function. If you forget something you will pay the price. One may be loss of pressured air the other one the loss of consciousness at high alt or the loss of your radar due to mismanagement. Especially when flying multiplayer, it should have an effect if you can master your aircraft. So a simple "G" to retract and another "G" press to extend the gear may be ok for game mode but if you are flying the sim and especially online there should be some kind of common rules. Just my 2 cents

Some aerodynamics problems and some traffic problems
FSKRipper replied to flag02004's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Please don't judge the flight model by some of your experiences. As I will show with some posts of other users it is possible to fly low speed aerobatics and leave the inverted departure. It's only a matter of training and as a real pilot you can't tell about the abilities of a plane with flying only some minutes or hours. 1. Inverted departure (by LQQCN101): discussion: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=134851 2. high AOA maneuvers (by Ironhand): http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135959 3. Cobra is possible and not scripted. Just fly at low speed (390-400 km/h). I you insist, I can add a track the next days but you will find a video for sure if you use the search function. 4. Don't forget it's still a beta. FM tweaking will continue 5. Last but not least and as far as I know, ED is in contact with actual Flanker pilots so I would have some trust in their work. -
Ten minutes ago I sat in my F-15 to make a ramp start when I heard intermittend audio noise in and outside of the cockpit. Maybe I missed something during the last patches but I refrained from posting it in the bug section since it sounds like wind to me. Can somebody confirm that this intended? sample.trk

Interview with Leatherneck Studios
FSKRipper replied to Count Sessine's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Agree. Since every update is upon collusion with ED I won't expect great changes before 2.0 1.2.14 is just to iron some major bugs out, two of them were introduced in 1.2.12. I think the ED Team is working like hell to get 2.0 ready for Q1 2015. Meantime the LN dev Team has hopefully merry christmas and some time to work on the cat :megalol: -

Sure there are many things to improve but maybe against bombers the hit ratio could be ok. If I'm not totally wrong this was also the main purpose for these missiles? I found a funny Video from ralfidude in which they experimented a bit with these weapons :) -
Tja gute Frage.
-
@ moderators Just an idea to keep it clean since there are misunderstandings with every new open beta... How about opening a DCS sub forum for the new versions? Like the 1.2.7 and 1.2.8 that still exists and can possibly be erased?
