  1. I think one of the biggest things for new pilots to DCS is correctly mapping keys to your HOTAS. It just makes so many things easier once you know what they do and exactly where there at. A10C came mapped great for the Thrustmaster Warthog but it pretty much ends there. I'll probably spend a couple of days learning the systems for the FW190 and mapping the controls before I hit the servers.
  2. HD6850 ... till a new rig is built.
  3. F10 can help you get in the area if its enabled but you still have to spot them(not always easy). If they are hugging the ground its very hard to see them and you almost have to see them engaging someone else at times. Hopefully ED will address this with the EDGE because it will be a killer in our non radar guided planes.
  4. I'll probably fly whatever seems to suit me best or whatever the online server needs. I'm sure everyone will be jumping to play the FW190 at the beginning so I'll probably stick with the P51 then. Really looking forward to the K4 and most of all the P47.
  5. I doubt it because this is really just an offer from ED not from Steam. That's not to say you won't be able to catch this title on a great sale on Steam sometime in the future. I bought Huey, Combine Arms, and P51 at great prices from Steam to use the keys here.
  6. Great job DCS! So glad we don't have to wait (May 2015?) till DCS WWII or whatever becomes of it is released.
  7. A10C and Blackshark had good single player campaigns plus users made campaigns later on. I'd imagine that once more of the DCS WWii planes and maps are completed you will see some user/developer campaign pop up. Personally I'd choose the DCS World copies of P51/FW190 over the manuals to get earlier access to the planes. These aren't as complicated as the A10c or blackshark which have a lot of required reading just to get to some level of operational readiness.
  8. The poorly run kick starter campaign and its fall out is going to hit ED hard. Hopefully they come up with a plan to make everyone happy. I wasn't ever really encouraged with them splitting DCS World and DCS WWII. There were a lot of questions about whether DCS World planes will work in WWii or the other way around even in the beginning. Don't expect ED to keep everything that was promised in the Kickstarter ... which sounded more like some kind of political race with all the to good to be true promises. Lets give them some time to figure out how this is going to work. At this point I'm surprised they don't just refund the Kickstarter people(me included) their pledges just to get rid of this headache. I'm sure they would make much more money selling FW190 and Bf109 individually than the $150k that kickstarter raised.
  9. I've got a core duo 3.16, HD6850 gpu, and 4 gigs of ram. Mine will run the basic training missions but as soon as I try the campaign missions with all the SAM sites/multiple units it becomes a slide show. I doubt you will be able to run this one.
  10. I get the feeling it may take alittle while before they decide how the modules are going to be packaged or if they will retail them separately with the bonus system. Probably have to wait till we hear how or if they are going to package the planes before the decision on the map to non-backers is decided. Remember we're still waiting for the Nevada map how many years later.
  11. Agreed. This would seem to be simplest route and maybe have an option to set the era of the ground units (30s-40s), maybe one day (50s), modern, etc. One set of keys to work with everything would be great and I'm sure other module players would love to see the Euro theater(pay for it).
  12. At this point I don't even care about Beta Access if its going to cause ED any huge problems. ED could of just finished the FW190 and dropped the rest but they have decided to try to finish the project. Just give me the planes we were promised when they're finished and I'll be happy.
  13. Go away to the mountains for a week and come home to see this ... Thanks DCS for taking over the project and not letting it die. My respect for your company continues to grow. The only question I have is if we backed for all aircraft at launch/beta ... how is this going to work? Are they just going to release each plane to us as they are finished(FW190, BF109K)? I am quite fine with the fact that some planes are going to take a while to be finished but I just wanted to know if those of us that backed will be getting the FW190 in August and others at future dates?
  14. I was going to post the same thing about the i7-4790 since I've been looking at building a new rig. Not sure if I'm going to wait till the Haswell E that's supposed come out in September so I'll be better suited for future updates or settle for whats out now.
  15. AH64 in whatever version, Hind, or the Blackhawk. Flying around in Blackhawks was such a blast compared to the Chinook which is pretty much a flying bus.
  16. So it was a even match for once ....:music_whistling:
  17. Hopefully somebody from one of the big flight sim websites will get in to check it out. Maybe they will announce some kind of date at E3?
  18. Sort of the reason the F86 won't be a day one buy for me. If a Mig15 was being released at the same time I probably would but otherwise its Steam sale I wait for. As for the OP I sort of agree but not totally on just the map. Its more of a wait and see plane for me because I bought the P51 awhile back and fighting AI FW190 or other P51s is getting alittle old. I have the feeling that the same will be for the F86. Now the Korea map would be great addition period for DCS because it could as easy translate to current/future DCS products from the Korean war to present. Who wouldn't want to fly their A10C in strikes over North Korea or play some kind of improved ground forces there?
  19. I don't think we will see the Cliff of Dover type debacle that went on for years but like Sith said ... its really impossible to be out of touch with anyone these days.
  20. Korean War Map? Mig15 Korean Era Ground Vehicles If a Mig15 was coming out it would be a day one buy for both but having the P51 by itself for so long may having me waiting. Great plane and glad it was developed for DCS though.
  21. It shouldn't be too hard to throw up a couple of screenshots or at least take 15 minutes to type up a progress report. I know things are chaotic in some of the regions over there but 6 weeks is a long time. They were thinking Dora Alpha in early 14 and we've heard nothing on it. Someone else is releasing a module in July(F86) and still no time table on the Fw190.
  22. I've found using the Thrustmaster software to be very quick and I've had no problems. Once you figure out the differences in pulse, hold, etc you can program and reprogram it pretty quickly.
  23. Pop, pop, kick on the lawn mower engine noise till silence.
  24. I'll be happy if we have Dora, 109, P47 in beta by then much less finished.
  25. I'm pulling for RRG to bring us a great addition to DCS but they aren't like Star Citizen or some of the other more successful fundraisers. Not sure if they have the right business background or personnel/funding to stay on top of a continuing fundraising campaign. Those types of fundraising require much more fan interaction and develop information than what we are currently getting to be very successful. They also didn't seem to need a lot of cash to begin with to finish the first DCS WWii installment.
