  1. Happy birthday Wags! Hope you're spending it working hard on Black Shark! :P
  2. Hooray! Thank you!
  3. I went to the show yesterday aswell, and made a bee line for the black shark set up. I was very excited to get a go and was very surprised when I finally got the beast off the ground! :D It's going to take a lot of practice to fly the Shark smoothly. I was so busy thinking about flying that I wondered between two platoons of armour and was shot up a little by Shilkas. I managed to take quite a few hits before spiralling out of control. It would have been nice to see it go up in flames, but the ol' no crash option was on. The Shark just spasmed on the ground like a dead animal, ha! Even though the PC was 'modest' the simulator still looked real pretty like! But yes, it was very slow to load. Thanks JimMack for giving a brief tuition. His enthusiasm is infectious! And Urze, you're collective mod is amazing. It has an incredibly professional finish and I will be seriously considering a purchase of one when Black Shark arrives! Unfortunately, between having a pretty horrible week and waking up at 4 am on the day to catch the 6.10am train to Brussels, my fuzzy mind forgot to remind me to take my camera!! But trying out Black Shark, followed by a nice meal in Brussels and 3 or 4 blanche beers certainly made, for an awesome day!
  4. It's my industrial strength hairdryer. AND I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT!!!
  5. Dang, I'm in there tomorrow. Oh well, it will still be fun! Except for getting up for the 6.10 am Eurostar from London. Ouchy.
  6. Urze, you have a stand at the SimWare show? I just might have to come visit!
  7. It's looking mighty fine!
  8. Ahahaha. What kind of fuel did they put in that aircraft?
  9. Amen to that. Sounds great Yo-Yo!
  10. I would dig either, both would be fun to fly!
  11. I also noticed that in this picture: http://www.simhq.com/_air10/air_325d.html from the recent DCS report at SimHQ. I'm glad you've said that's an 'old' thing. :)
  12. That's awesome Mizzy. Nice work!
  13. Yeah, the thread went off track a bit, sorry about that :P On the risk of angering someone again: I think motion blur would be the type of thing that is hard coded within a game and would require more than just modding. But I could be wrong, and if I am, I'm sure I'll we'll find out soon.
  14. I think he is over compensating for something....
  15. You have to wonder about a person who hacks a website and follows it up by using the word "ownz". What a sad little life.
  16. I know that sometimes I need a genious to point these things out for me, but I did not say that motion blur and depth of field are the same thing. I know what motion blur and depth of field are. All I was saying is that I have read in places that these two things were only possible in DirectX 10, but I also said it looks like I interpreted this wrong and that these things are now real-time effects in DirectX 10, rather than post effects, as Ven pointed out
  17. You're right, what I had read I interpreted wrongly: "DX10 has a Geometry shader that is capable of adding more advanced visual effects including real-time Displacement Mapping, Motion Blur, Point-Sprite generation from points, and Stencil Shadow Extrusion." There were also a lot of complaints on the Valve forums as to why Day of Defeat: Source did not implement Depth of Field or Motion Blur, and the answer was always because those would only come with DirectX 10.
  18. That's a possibility. If motion blur was possible in DX9, then I would it would have been implemented in more games.
  19. Hrmm....I stand corrected! I'm sure I read in many places that both of these things were only possible with DX10.
  20. As far as I know, motion blur (or depth of field) can only be done with DX10.
  21. Aye this is very good news - looking forward to it!
  22. It says Digital Combat Series
  23. That shot is taken fairly close to the ground and you can't see much to give a better impression. I think when it has been suggested that the terrain is being worked on, it's not so much the textures that are being improved, but the actual modelling of the terrain. ie, making it smoother and more 'land like'
  24. or even at all :P
  25. Thank you sooo much for putting that image in my head.... :puke: and: lol @ Mizzy
