  1. 8800GTS here, lighting works as supposed.
  2. You won't get control back, until you center your controls. That is the way new trimmer works.
  3. Do you have Sidewinder mouse?
  4. I hate this feature of 1.0.1 patch. :( It is all about system locale. Game gets system locale at startup and then searches for files according to locale. Some examples: if your locale is Russian, then game looks for AboutCredits_ru.txt, if your locale is Lithuanian - it looks for AboutCredits_lt.txt and etc. If you don't have the right file, error pops up. 2 fixes available: change system locale (to be precise: "Language for non Unicode programs") to one, whose files are available with your Ka-50 installation (I won't do that) or try to substitute the required files. Simply open LUA file (mentioned in error message) and scroll to line with error. In that line you will find file name. Look for this file and rename its copy so, that its name will end with locale code. For example: if you have Russian version, then you will find AboutCredits_ru.txt, and if you have Lithuanian as system locale, then you rename the copy to AboutCredits_lt.txt (ru -> lt) and that is it. Do the same to the all files, because of which you get errors. Oh, and game still can't read file listing in unicode. It means that if directory contains files, whose names are with characters from multiple languages, game will hang trying to read that directory. :(
  5. Will INU coordinate corrections be required with this patch?
  6. It is called solidarity. Nah, I think someone must understand that not everything what people say must be taken literally (especially when sentences are accompanied by smiles). People here are not kids, they like to talk complex stuff (or simple things in complex way) :smilewink: As some already have said, you need to read other threads about trim and stabilization system. It is not so simple. I know a lots of people who said: "this AP is buggy; Ka-50 is nonsense; game controls are bad; I hate helicopters". They stopped to say so after they learned the systems and correct flying technique. People go wrong way mostly because of wrong attitude: a) trim is only for cruise b)AP and stabilization is only for girls; so they pay little attention to them and this is bad. Ka-50 is not fixed wing aircraft, you need to trim it constantly (after every maneuver) and disabling AP (stabilization) is only allowed in emergency. I advice you to read everything, then check if you understand everything (ask people if not), then try flying and making conclusions.
  7. We just need a track or this surely will extend beyond 20 pages. P.S: What is wrong with usage of "toys"? Men are just kids, whose toys are getting more and more expensive as they grow. :)
  8. FPS - frames per second.
  9. This is due economic crisis. Fuel must be used wisely. :smartass:
  10. Despite MP3 is wide spread, licensing for its decoders and encoders is a bit tricky. In some countries patents regarding MP3 are considered to be in effect and any unlicensed implementation is against the law. After a few years these patents will expire and such problems will disappear, but now it is problematic. I think this could be the reason why we have no MP3 support in DCS.
  11. Is the bug related to unicode characters in mission names fixed? I don't see it the list, but maybe it fits inside "numerous other minor bugs and errors."?
  12. Maybe you are too used to R/C helicopters. Real and R/C helicopters are very different because of weight and power to weight ratio. These 2 differences that make very hard to compare R/C and real helicopters. Basically low weight and relatively huge power of R/C helicopter allow it to change speed and direction more quickly than 8000kg helicopter can. Softness comes from control dampening. Sponginess comes from autopilot stabilization and wrong usage of trimmer. You can turn them off, but then you will find yourself floating all around. This is result of inertia. Remember, it is over 8000kg helicopter. We need to determine what you mean by saying "rudder". Yaw control for Ka-50 is accomplished by 2 means: differential variation of pitch of rotors and by tail rudder. At high speeds pitch variation is ineffective, but tail rudder is very effective. At low speeds everything reverses. Even high speed fixed wing aircrafts can side slip, I see no reason why Ka-50 couldn't. Experienced virtual pilot can do these maneuvers in this sim too. Footage of R/C helicopters won't be good enough, because of already mentioned reasons: weight and weight to power ratio. However, there are lots of videos of real Ka-50.
  13. I suggest you to read carefully about trimming and AP modes. Try: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35444 and http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=36246

  15. It is not just updated manual, it is manual with added content. I think the updated version (with fixed mistakes and typos, but without that additional content) will be included with upcoming patch.

  17. No it didn't. Because of one bug you always die after ejection :D If you remember walking after ejection then that was because you were a virtual ghost (you can check easily if you are a ghost: only ghosts can walk through walls and vehicles).

  19. X2 6000+, 4GB RAM, 8800 GTS 640MB, AAx2, AFx16, 1920X1200, everything on high, except water (normal) and visibility (medium). With W2k3 it averages to 30fps and with Vista there is additional 10 fps boost. Although X2 6000+ is little outdated, it handles DCS pretty well.
  20. Not a bug. Begin reading here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35444
  21. To change HUD color, you need to edit lua files. ..\Ka-50\Scripts\Aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\HUD\HUD_init.lua indication_color = get_color(materials["BLACK"]) You can use other colors too or define your own in file ..\Ka-50\Scripts\Aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\materials.lua Lift is effected by collective (AoA of blades) and rotor RPM. Higher collective setting makes engines work harder to keep the same rotor RPM. There is upper limit of collective position with which engines can't spin rotors at required RPM and lift decreases drastically. High throttle setting increases this upper limit and allows usage of higher collective setting without slowing the rotors. In other words throttle setting does not have direct relation to lift, however high throttle allows higher collective without falling out of sky. Note, that you should fly at AUTO position and FULL POWER should be used only at emergency.
  22. Is altitude channel of autopilot on? In what position your throttle is? Autopilot can "correct" your input only in about 20%, so if you set very low or very high collective, AP won't hold the altitude, because it can't make such large corrections. Also, look at in game collective. Is brake released after you stop moving your (real) throttle?
  23. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=584514&postcount=24 I have observed that collective brake sometimes stuck if simple "F" key press is used. Advanced command ("F" press as macro on press, nothing to repeat, "F" release with delay 0.5s on release) relieves from this problem. NOTE: advanced command allows to emulate pressing and releasing of keyboard's keys separately. "F" key is pressed on press event and released only at release event. Difference between pressing and releasing is shown as different squares of key presses (look at screenshot).
  24. If altitude channel is off or trim button is held pressed, collective brake won't do any thing in game.
