  1. I think the idea is to have an option to fly without mirrors that doesn't leave the player looking at ugly black voids.
  2. Good news. Thanks, Nine.
  3. I haven't tried the tutorials for a while so this may not work but try giving the space bar a long press rather than a tap.
  4. Not sure if it's coincidental but the P-51's controls (bindings, axes, curves) reset to default after the latest OB update.
  5. +1 I've requested the same thing for the Viggen, too. I don't know if it would be technically realistic (flipping the mirrors might not be an option on the real-life Harrier) but it would be a very welcome option.
  6. +1 Good idea. Additionally, a global switch that sets every module's special options to 'realistic' (saves having to trawl through each one).
  7. I've applied some drastic curves (and reduced the saturation) which does help but the default sensitivity seems extreme. Presumably the ratio is correct, or more realistic, for a full-length cyclic controller. But I still cannot maintain a steady turn. The only way is to give the Gazelle a constant feed of short cyclic 'pulses' in order to remain at your desired bank angle. Very strange.
  8. Re: P-51 radiators - I did a few tests. These were done flying straight and level, no manoeuvring, so bear that in mind. I've found the coolant radiator works generally OK automatically, but it has a tendency to run hot. Going flat out the 'auto' setting will keep the needle in the void between the green zone and red line. This is great for low-drag shenanigans but I don't know if any damage is occurring running like this. The oil cooler's automatic mode seems broken or at least out of calibration. I tested by fully closing the oil till the temperature hit the red line then switched to auto - no change. But a five second manual push of 'open' brought the temps quickly back into the green. Running the engine cool (40°), with oil fully open, and then engaging auto the temperature will start rising so it is doing something.
  9. OK, thanks. It feels very different to the other helos so it's probably just lack of seat time on my part. I've just put very generous axis curves on the cyclic and rudder and it's much more manageable.
  10. I've tried with and without the AP but it seems impossible to hold your attitude in the Gazelle. For example, if you bank, even slightly, then it just keeps rolling until you recenter the cyclic. It feels like flying with an ancient digital joystick. Is this correct behaviour?
  11. I think the usual solution is to go into your Config/Input folder, delete the Mi-8 folder, and let DCS rebuild a new default control set. Hardly ideal, but if you do try this make sure you back-up the folder first.
  12. I'll be picking up a 970 m.2 from which I want to run DCS. Q: Is it as simple as dragging the whole 'Eagle Dynamics' folder across and creating new shortcuts or is there more involved? What about the DCS stuff that lives in the 'Saved Games/DCS' folder (config, missions etc)? Does that need to be migrated too?
  13. There's no need to go down that rabbit-hole....all we have to do is look out of the window. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_blue Sky blue is the name of a colour that resembles the colour of the sky at noon.
  14. I don't have the CE but this is what reducing the saturation does on a Mustang. Keep your eyes on the 'control helper' widget in the bottom-left. You'll see me pulling the joystick fully back at varying saturation levels. And this shows the difference in elevator authority in the external view...
  15. Please don't post this stuff. I came this close to taking a hacksaw to my joystick not too long ago and I don't want to get the urge again....at least for a while.
  16. Yeah, I've slowly been reducing the curves I use a tiny % at a time so I don't notice it. I'm not sure whether it's just God having fun but it seems that when you put a curve on an axis it just so happens that the range you need the most control is just the point where the curve starts ramping up the sensitivity.
  17. Incorrect was the wrong word, sorry. It's just that.... ....doesn't really tell the whole story. If you reduce saturation you no longer have the 'whole range' available which is a pretty bad side-effect. He even said...
  18. +1 This is incorrect. Reducing saturation will reduce sensitivity but it also removes a portion of available control. If you set pitch saturation to 70% you'll only have 70% elevator authority available. For normal operations you might not notice anything amiss, but in certain circumstances, especially very-low-speed manoeuvring (stall-fighting etc) that missing 30% will kill you. You'll be flapping your elevators around in the dead air but they just won't 'bite'. It can also introduce effects that can be mistaken for bugs. If you reduce the rudder saturation on the Mig-15 to around 50% then it completely breaks the ground-steering. Curves keep 100% control authority but the price is the curve ramps up significantly as you approach the limits.
  19. double post
  20. Well, if DCS is correct the midday sky gets darker the closer you are to the equator. London - Winter - Noon - Latitude 51.5074° N Ground Level looking straight up (from my phone) Batumi - Noon - Summer - Latitude - 41.6168° N Ground Level looking straight up (gamma 1.9) You can even see the stars.
  21. Thanks for the info - I was tempted to pick up the G2 now and get the Kosmo grip later on; I didn't realise they would be incompatible.
  22. Is it not possible to buy Kosmosima + Gladiator II base combined?
  23. Try this one. https://www95.zippyshare.com/v/c0HO4X2O/file.html Put it in... C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\MiG-15bis\Liveries\Cockpit_MiG-15bis ....and select it in the special options page.
  24. I often moan about cockpit reflections looking terrible but it's not because I'm being inconvenienced by them. I love the way light, dust, shadows, dirt, water all conspire to make visibility a dynamic variable. My complaint is that the 'baked on' reflection has outlived it's utility. Back in the late 90's/early 00's 'baked on' reflections weren't the liability they are now. That's because back then there wasn't any 6DOF head movement; our virtual head was stuck fast in the cockpit. But nowadays we can move our head around the cockpit and any illusion the 'reflections' once had has evaporated. What once appeared to the player as, say, the reflection of an ejection handle, now presents itself very obviously as a texture painted on the canopy.
