  1. I've only just picked it up and it's great - any issues I've encountered are tiny and/or cosmetic. The new cockpit is mostly gorgeous & much more realistic than the previous iteration. It's the most involving of the WW2 planes to fly because you're constantly trying to keep it straight, and dog-fighting at low speed requires your full attention. Also I know you're fond of difficult landings etc so you'll be happy to know that it's a handful getting up and down. If you do pick it up I'll offer one usability tip - the default view has this built-in 'neck' movement which attempts to position the virtual head so the player automatically sees around the over-head armour plating. It's trying to be helpful but I found it very annoying/disorientating. I cured it by simply moving the head forward an inch or so - done. Plus they're all getting a new damage model soon so jump in.
  2. Yeah, 'trim' is perhaps the wrong term. Mysterious un-commanded input (?)
  3. Not sure if it's just placebo but giving the space-bar a long press instead of just a tap seems to work sometimes with recalcitrant training missions.
  4. Some bump mapping on the terrain textures would be nice.
  5. Using TARGET I've set up my mini-stick thingy to send key presses instead of axes - you lose acceleration but I find it much more controllable.
  6. It is a new option introduced in 2.5.4 which by default is enabled. In 'Misc' menu un-check to remove hit/damage messages.
  7. I love the cockpit but there's just one problem and that's the left hand canopy frame. It looks terrible but I think it's just an unfortunate consequence of the new PBR technique rather than a mistake. This is what it looks like for most of the time we see it.... It looks terribly pixelated. But if you see the same area in shadow.... ...it doesn't look too bad. Don't know if it can be 'fixed' or not. This was previous version.... Much better looking but old technology. Everything is still in Beta though so....
  8. Did some testing. When you spawn on the ground the trim is neutral - but by the time you are airborne the phantom aileron trim has appeared. I cannot say at which point the trim is applied because my controls are too busy trying to take off. Watch... When spawning in the air the trim is applied immediately....
  9. Oops...usually they're only a few KB.
  10. edited for ludicrous size - thanks Redglyph!
  11. Actually...to save starting another thread - if possible could the devs consider using 'projected' shadows for aircraft even if the player is using 'Flat' in the options?
  12. I've discovered an absolute show-stopper of a bug. ED must drop everything and fix this. DCS is literally un-playable because of this. Both Mustangs lose their tail shadow when using 'Flat' shadows. 'Default' is OK.
  13. What can I say....it was a special night
  14. +1 The 109 is by far the most difficult DCS WW2 aircraft to dogfight in, especially at low speed. The thing is never in trim and it requires buckets of rudder. It's a real pig...in a good way. And while it might be able to turn inside a P-51 you really have to put the work in. In summary....ED, do more WW2 :)
  15. I've changed my mind. I prefer the overall look of the Normandy trees but God how they shimmer. They're seemingly immune to any kind of AA or AF so unless it's a static screenshot the Speed-Trees are miles ahead. Message ends. edit: the trees in Las Vegas are also damned fine.
  16. Even with aileron & rudder trim set to zero in special options the 109 has some starboard aileron trim already dialed in.... Is this normal?
  17. It's not (I've never used cockpit illumination) The issue is with DCS - light sources ignoring solid objects. edit: e.g.
  18. That's not the problem.
  19. Same request for the K-4. e: And the P-51.
  20. The needle jumps to on or off with no in-between. Previously...(sorry about awful gif)
  21. I wish our needles bounced around like that.
  22. There is a 'cheat sheet' in the cockpit but it's buried out of sight. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=228115
  23. There is a hint of them but it's faint. Perhaps the new water isn't as transparent as the old?
