[REPORTED]RWR spikes seem to be shared in MP
Lixma 06 replied to jonsky7's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
This has been a thing for over a year at least. As an example - during multiplayer a friendly attacker will get locked up by a ZSU-23 and yet despite me being 15km away I also get a simultaneous lock warning. -
Bug 2 is a 'feature' - the landing light circuit breaker also controls the light in the left console. God knows why. As for the flickering I could not reproduce it.

[ART] No Viggen Splash Screen when Loading Missions
Lixma 06 replied to imacken's topic in Bugs and Problems
It's annoying - I always think I've forgotten to include the player's aircraft in the mission editor. -
300-350m for the P-51 Yo-Yo (I think) posted these charts in another thread about convergences.

Here's my fix-wish-list (none of them are critical) in no particular order - G-force bumping - whereby the pilot receives an electric shock in his pants as he crosses exactly 1G, 2G, 3G etc and receives another shock as the G's step down to 1. It's weird, mechanical, and annoying. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=223732 External lighting penetrating everything - causing all kinds of weird effects. Shadows quality - I'm guessing ED removed the 'Ultra' setting for good reasons but it would be nice to see improved shadows return. Synchronized clouds online - maybe they'll come with the rumoured new weather system but they're still needed. Sky is too dark - self explanatory https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=227688 Nevertheless, ED have done an amazing job with 2.5.4 in one particular area that I honestly have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not hallucinating. For the last 200 years the LOMAC/DCS player was greeted with a stutter on firing their guns, hitting something, something ejecting, something crashing, bombs hitting the ground...etc. Well ED seem to have slain that particular demon. I don't know how they've done it, and I doubt it was easy, but it's hugely appreciated.

Bug?: Mission files storing view settings (and other stuff)
Lixma 06 replied to Lixma 06's topic in General Bugs
I guarantee it came straight from the ME. This is my missions folder - ....all of them are incredibly basic missions, made by myself in the ME for testing, with no scripting or any fancy stuff. If I'm feeling extravagant I'll add some clouds. But for some reason DCS will occasionally include all the extraneous stuff - and it's the inclusion of the Views folder which is causing people headaches. -
Bug?: Mission files storing view settings (and other stuff)
Lixma 06 replied to Lixma 06's topic in General Bugs
It wasn't, I've never converted any mission from anything to anything else. That particular mission file is nothing more than a single Mig-29 parked on the runway, carrying smoke pods and fancy paint-job. I created it myself. -
I've noticed many people are having trouble with their custom snap-views not being saved or having them disappear. I've run into this myself lots of times and while I can show evidence of what is happening on I can't figure out why it's happening. Occasionally when you save a mission in the mission editor DCS will include a bunch of other files; including the player's entire Config/View folder. This means that every time you load this mission your current view settings will be overridden with those stored in this .miz file. It also means that any changes you make to your view settings while playing this mission will be 'forgotten' when you load up a different mission. Here's what the majority (99%) of my mission files look like - And here's one that for some reason has collected a bunch of extra stuff - It's these .miz files that are causing the problems people are having with their custom view editing. I don't know why DCS is including the extra files. It's been suggested that it happens when using the 'prepare mission' function - but while that might be true I can't remember ever using that feature. For all intents and purposes it seems to happen randomly.

OK, I just tried this and the first time I created a fast mission with the D-30 the 'Real' P-51D controls had indeed been reset to default. I shut down DCS, re-installed my back-up 'Config' folder (***remember kids ALWAYS & Religiously back-up your Config folder***), and tried again. But this time when I spawned into a freshly created D-30 fast mission all the controls were mine - DCS hadn't reverted to default mapping. Hmm....

This post might help... https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3736617&postcount=2 Take note of the last bit - it's possible there's a bug causing trouble with saving snap views.

Yep. It really is only a 'virtual inch' - you'll see what I mean once you hop in and start looking around over your shoulder.
-
I've only just picked it up and it's great - any issues I've encountered are tiny and/or cosmetic. The new cockpit is mostly gorgeous & much more realistic than the previous iteration. It's the most involving of the WW2 planes to fly because you're constantly trying to keep it straight, and dog-fighting at low speed requires your full attention. Also I know you're fond of difficult landings etc so you'll be happy to know that it's a handful getting up and down. If you do pick it up I'll offer one usability tip - the default view has this built-in 'neck' movement which attempts to position the virtual head so the player automatically sees around the over-head armour plating. It's trying to be helpful but I found it very annoying/disorientating. I cured it by simply moving the head forward an inch or so - done. Plus they're all getting a new damage model soon so jump in.

Yeah, 'trim' is perhaps the wrong term. Mysterious un-commanded input (?)
-
Not sure if it's just placebo but giving the space-bar a long press instead of just a tap seems to work sometimes with recalcitrant training missions.
-
Some bump mapping on the terrain textures would be nice.
-
Using TARGET I've set up my mini-stick thingy to send key presses instead of axes - you lose acceleration but I find it much more controllable.
-
It is a new option introduced in 2.5.4 which by default is enabled. In 'Misc' menu un-check to remove hit/damage messages.

I love the cockpit but there's just one problem and that's the left hand canopy frame. It looks terrible but I think it's just an unfortunate consequence of the new PBR technique rather than a mistake. This is what it looks like for most of the time we see it.... It looks terribly pixelated. But if you see the same area in shadow.... ...it doesn't look too bad. Don't know if it can be 'fixed' or not. This was previous version.... Much better looking but old technology. Everything is still in Beta though so....
-
Did some testing. When you spawn on the ground the trim is neutral - but by the time you are airborne the phantom aileron trim has appeared. I cannot say at which point the trim is applied because my controls are too busy trying to take off. Watch... When spawning in the air the trim is applied immediately....
