Fair enough. I'm just wondering why we don't have more modern craft in the simulator. P-51D - old, UH-1H - old, Mi-8 - old, Mig-21 - old, F-86 - old, AH-1G - old, F/A-18C - modernish in the sense and still in service but is probably going to see retirement before the A-10C. Don't get me wrong here I love all these aircraft. I just want to ask where are all the Mi-28's, AH-64A/D's, F/A-18E's, MH-60L/L-DAP's? Is it a matter of classification/legal matters or the problem of development time due to more advanced avionics and weapons. Sorry if this is semi off topic but this seemed like a good thread to maybe ask some of this stuff since Wags is requesting us to send him any info we may know of of the SEP.
-
And my question: How does one even find unclassified info on these systems? Couldn't Eagle just contact General Dynamics Land Systems and ask them if it's legal for them to do an M1A2 SEP simulation, and if so provide the required documentation and data? I'm having a very hard time wrapping my head around this classified/unclassified stuff. Is the only reason we have a modern attack aircraft (the A-10C) because ED got a contract to develope the simulator for the USAF/ANG? If it wasn't for that would we even have such a highly detailed modern aircraft currently operating in active theaters today?

I must say this is starting to get a little ridiculous :D

What needs to be upgraded?

Looking at your specs everything is fine except for your GT630, which may be a bit under powered, and could be causing a bottleneck for your CPU but I may be wrong. I myself am running 8GB DDR3 RAM, a Phenom II X4 955 and a GTX560 non ti and get playable FPS but nothing fantastic especially in MP games with 20+ players or large SP missions. You must remember that the engine in DCS is quite old and doesn't suit modern multi-core CPU's and graphics cards very well. This will change soon with the release of Nevada and the new graphics engine EDGE which will have DX11, so I recommend you make do with your current setup until then and see how your machine does. BUt if you do have the money then by all means get a new graphics card. Anything above a GTX660/760 should be fine. Edit: Just wanted to add that alot of things have changed since your FC1 days. High polygon 3D models for aircraft and vehicles, new water effects, engine smoke, fire and smoke effects, HDR and a bunch of other technical things that all lead to increased resource usage. -
Most likely alot of these around, but I spent some time doing it in MS Word from the official UH-1H/V manual. It's fewer pages should one want to print and laminate, which I will be doing. :) Edit: I've updated the checklists format to be like the routine in the manual. With the original it was a bit confusing to read since I used the format the A-10C manual is written in, and of course that has a trillion more buttons so it got confusing with that format. Eh I won't complain. As you said we did get $10 discount on FC3. Only bonus I got was $8 for the A-10C, which is at least something. It can make up for the crazy dollar exchange rate. :D

Highwayman/Stratos if you make any changes please remember to upload the individual changed files for those people who don't want to download the entire mod again. -

I'll give this a shot. Getting really tired of Georgia :bash: -
What was your learning process for this aircraft?
SyntaxError replied to Pajeezy's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Started by reading a bit of the manual then did the training missions about 3 times each, then went back to the manual again. Youtube is good for learning things the training missions don't cover, such as multiple JDAM drops, CBU settings input, inputting coordinates etc etc. -
Can other guys here who run bandwidth monitoring programs in the background confirm very high down speeds now and then on some servers? I was playing on 104th with 10 players and was getting 160KB/s down which resulted in 200mb being used for like 10 minutes of gameplay. I've never seen that sort of high network activity on the VA server with +/- 26 players. 104th usually runs fine with under 50KB/s. Is this related to the set network setting? Because I tried both LAN and 1024 and was still getting insane bandwidth usage.

No problem :) And personally I'm looking very forward to the day the B-52 gets a new model. Beautiful beautiful aircraft, same with the B-1B Lancer.
-
Texture template files become available when the aircraft models are updated. Currently the B-52 model is a piece of lego, so when ED get around to updating the model the texture files will follow.

Just installed this mod now and it works fine without changing that line in the graphics.lua.

From what I heard previously there is no difference between the ALQ 131 & ALQ 184 jamming pods in DCS World, but this may be incorrect. There is also the debate on the subject of 'do ECM pods actually do anything'. Somewhere in that thread there is a post verifying that the DCS ECM pods do in fact work to some extent.

How to improve in game 3d model smoothness?

If I'm correct the 'Scenes' setting in the graphics options controls the detail of objects, and setting it on high will remove any blocky polygon details. -
It was just a hotfix to fix the updater which wasn't running a hash check before an update.
-
Copy the local source file into DCS World from DCS World Openbeta and then update. See below. It uses the Open Beta directory to update V1.2.6, making the download size way smaller. Just remember to edit the txt file and change the line to point to your open beta folder. Okay I'm going to go fly now. Hopefully I've helped a few people here.

Oooh shiny! Hopefully the broken cargo model means the sling load is coming soon! conspiracy.jpg
