Hey there! Yesterday night, during a mission, I took 3 SA-18, in rapid sequence and, except some cosmetic damage on the left wing, there was no consequence at all. Usually, just one SA-18 was enough to have systems fail, so I'm wondering: is this working as intended? Have something been changed in the last update? Have the Hornet become almost immortal like the Falcon? Before you ask, btw, I have no track of it, only the tacview recording.

I hope I'm interpreting correctly what you wrote, but if your point is that SAM mode should not support the AIM-120, I'm sorry, it is exactly what it should do. It's even in the manual.

Hi there Sirchuzzalot! There's been an issue with the campaign using the USS Washington mod in version 2.5.6, hence Florence uploaded a new zip file in the user section of DCS website, which contains two versions of the campaign, one with mods, the other one without mods. You have to download the campaign again, unzip the no mod version of it and replace the old .miz files with the new ones. This way you shouldn't need to restart the campaign and can keep playing it from mission 6 onward.

Just remember, a short press of the button will switch between Wide and Narrow FOV, a long press will switch between CCD and FLIR view.

Welcome aboard, and thanks for bringing us the Typhoon, can't believe I'll fly Italy's premiere fighter! You already sold one!

What?... No, no, darling, don't do like that... Come on, sweetheart, it was just one night.... No, don't throw that! Oh, come on! She's not even a simulator, it's just a simple game! Does that even count as cheating? No no no, wait, don't go away! I'll let you crash to the desktop when I'm in multiplayer and I have spent forty minutes prepping for a sortie and just started rolling and I won't complain! Come back! DCS! Oh, well, flight sims! And just because last night I spent my time with this new, really hot chick called Alyx! And, don't tell that to my airplanes, but, boy, is she something! An absolutely killer lady for VR! Best game (I said game, honey, not simulator!) I've played for VR, a real AAA game and, most importantly, a real Half-life game, after thirteen years! Just the first location blew away my mind and in less than a second I was deep inside Half-Life again! Alyx will bring you around City 17, fighting zombies, dodging headcrabs jumping for your face, crawling (literally, you have to duck in real life!) into Xen infest sewers, solving with your hands physics based puzzles, fighting Combine soldiers and having the creeps in dark, barnacles infested rooms, where you can't shoot because there are dozens of explosive barrels and you'll blow yourself to smithereens if you hit the wrong spot! So guys, have you met Alyx, yet? :smilewink:

Hey guys! Just a quick post to let you know I finally made it! Thanks to everyone for their inputs, but a big thank you especially to Notso and Frederf, you guys are a gold mine of information!

Done, and it worked flawlessly, Florence, thanks again for the tip. One more thing about mission 6: after WP4 "Vader", WP5 is placed N of Vader, which is in the opposit direction of homeplate. I realized that I was going in the wrong direction only after 5 minutes and lost a wingman due to fuel starvation. You might want to place WP5 S of Vader or just simply delete it.

I'll try waiting for the call and then send them in before attacking myself. I'm assuming I have to use the "Engage mission" command?
-
Gregkar, just download the new version of the campaign, unzip missions 6 to 13 from the "NO MOD" folder and copy them into your old campaign, overwriting the old files. You'll be able to continue the campaign where you left it. OTOH, Florence, how can I get the wingmen to attack mission targets? In missions six I tried with the "Engage mission" commands, the "Attack my target" command and the "Engage ground targets" command, but nothing worked, the darn morons just kept flying around without dropping their bombs... I hit one of the Tarantulas with 4 GBU-12s, the ship soaked up 68% of damage and kept merrily going its way....
-
Copy that, Florence, thank you! I'll patiently wait.
-
Unfortunately, that seems to be the case. If someone is running 2.5.5, maybe he might fix it for us and upload the missions in here.
-
Hey Florence! Thanks for getting back to me. I tried what you suggested but, unfortunately, even when you try to open the missions in the ME the game hangs and crashes. It happens even with the F/A-18 version of the campaign. I made several attempts and I think the culpirit is the USS Washington, as every other mission where that carrier is not present opens without issues and, as a matter of fact, I was able to play the F-16 version of the campaign in 2.5.6 without problems till the point where USS Washington enter the AOR. So, unless there's another way other than the ME to remove it, I'm afraid we won't be able to play the campaign... :(

Hey there! Is there anyone else experiencing what I described above? Any solutions or workarounds?
-
Hi Florence! I'm trying to fly mission six, but something is wrong. When I'm at mission brifieng, if I hit the "mission planner" button, the game hangs while loading, I get an error window that says "Shader "model/fake_spot_lights.fx" failed to compile - HRESULT: ERROR_PATH_NOT_FOUND" and after I close it, the game crashes. If I go straight to the mission, the game hangs while loading and I have to shut it down. Any idea what's going on and how to fix it?

Yeah, I'm afraid till ED will do something about it, there's not much we can do. Scopewizard, as I wrote above, lowering gamma helps, but you can't lower it too much if you play in VR, 1.5 is already dark enough that I now have to turn on cockpit lights even in daylight. On the Hornet, you can use BHOT instead of WHOT, it's less bright, but still annoying when you frame white spots... It's a bit I don't fly in a moonless night, so I haven't tried any new workaround...
-
Hey guys! Thanks for all the advice, I'll try them as soon as I can. One think I didn't mention, but it may be important: I'm trying to hit a column of armor moving along the road and, until now, I followed the quickest approach, which means I'm moving in the opposite direction they are. Should I approach them from behind, instead?
-
Amazing work, guys! Now shut up and take my money (or some Brunello from Tuscany! ;) )

Hey Xavven! Yeah, the pod is on the right HP. Honestly, I think I already tried every possible flight path, but I'll try again and do what you said. If I keep having problems, I'll set up a quick mission so that I can record a short track you guys can see, Arab Spring n. 3 is too long to record a track of it.
-
Hey guys, I keep having trouble with the Litening not tracking targets... not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if there's something wrong with the pod after the last updates. Basically, I go in CCRP mode, I find the target on the tgp, go to point track, lock the target, fly level at it, waiting for the cue to drop down to the flightpath marker, hold the weapon release button until the bomb drops, then fire the laser (the code is correct). At that point, I turn left to keep the target into the pod field of view, then back onto a course parallel to the one I was on before; unavoidably, everytime the target reach my 3 o'clock and goes past, the Litening head swivel back and loses track of it. So, am I doing something wrong, or is there something wrong with the pod?
-
Copy, thanks! Let's hope it'll get to OB soon! :smilewink:

Ok, guys, I don't want to cause a stir here, but have you noticed what's in the picture that Wags posted in last Viper update? https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=228923&d=1582902714 Right below the F-16C... I don't know if it was already shown before, but, if not, I'd say that might be a clue...

Hey there! So, about deck crew, the official statement is: I'm assuming that means that we won't have deck crew around the aircraft for the start up, with the plane captain helping the pilot in starting the airplane. Needless to say, that is a big part in the deck activities and it would be awesome to have it in this module. So, the questions are: am I right in assuming the above? Is there any plan to add it later to the module?
-
I'd like to add that, in my opinion, it's not a hardware issue, since I have the wheel bound to the TGP zoom controls in the F-16, and it works in steps, without zooming all the way in or all the way out. Not sure if it's a Hornet bug, or if it's like that in real life (even if the pod is the same, controls in the cockpit could be different).
-
Thanks Notso, let's hope ED will implement what you describe as soon as they can.
