You don't need to make a thread hours in advance. Furthermore there won't be any discussion in here, only useless spam. Any real discussion will be buried under pages of "lol can't wait F5 F5 F5!11". In case you haven't noticed, many people don't like to pick through pages of talk only to get to the important bits. This forum is already horribly cluttered on all ends, please do not purposefully add to that - every week! :)

Haven't touched singleplayer with the A10C in a long time, it's just not rearlly fun. MP/custom mission's is where the fun is! :D In FC3 its fun to just fly the interception mission or do some quick start with our without labels. Edit: The A10 is sorely missing something like the 'Instant Action' stuff from the P-51D, Final, Take Off, maybe easy gun targets, ILS Landing etc. Would be awesome. :D

We are not talking about the same thing here. We are literally talking about people who just downloaded the game without any idea about it and are instantly frustrated that they can't take off and shoot shit in the first 30 seconds. It's not like we didn't try for the first 10 people. But it became clear soon that everyone just joined the most populated server and expected to just jump into action. When they realize this is not happening anytime soon they get pissed off, sometimes attack people (verbally and sometimes when they manage physically), troll in ts or argue with us how shit this boring game is. I am helping people very often with the A10C or sometimes FC3, but nobody of those people ever asked me how to start their bloody plane. I can be patient and explain to some complete noob how to start the frogfoot. I can do that a few times, but with a constant stream of the same questions everybody would just shut down. But we got a point here, the steam masses should be somehow directed and not just left to fend for themselfs. The tutorial should popup on the first start("How do I start my aircraft?"), slots of not owned aircrafts in MP should be locked with a explaining message ("How do I spawn?") and maybe a server setting to lock people that do not own any DCS modules out of a server. I know this is a very bad way to handle it, but I will gladly baby-sit a handfull of noobs in a freeflight/training server. On the other hand while on a PvP server where we want to do quick and efficient sorties there is rightfully low tollerance for bullshit. Stuff like destroyed runways, destroyed friendly sams, bad attitude and teamkills etc just really suck in a good match.

The steam guys always try to spawn into FC3 aircraft and are frustrated when they can't spawn. On a PvP server like the 51st we may have time&energy to explain this to 5 guys. But when constantly new people just join the most populated server and ask the same questions over and over again you get frustrated. http://i.imgur.com/Mhm84fx.jpg Another way to deal with it.

Yes I thought the same thing yesterday. Basic filter options (search by name!) are a must have and seeing who is on that server&what settings would be an awesome boon.

Yeah i noticed this today, people just joined the most populated servers and got annoying when they didn't get instant gratification... Just to make this clear, nobody minds helping someone who actually set up his controls or tried the tutorial. I have no problem with new players that don't crash their planes onto the runway and have a basic idea how they should behave on taxiways/runways. But if somebody never openend the manual and expects me to spoonfeed him i get angry. xD

I don't fly the F15 (and by extension FC3) anymore since this bug is a no go for me. When I logg in every patch and check it out, notice it's still there - I am just going back to A10C. :) Worst thing is this bug was new (or one ver. before) when FC3 went out of beta - that was a big joke. Can't believe ED still didn't fix this, look at the pricing of FC3, people atleast should be able to land. @Rooster, I get that it is POSSIBLE to land if you don't exceed certain parameters, but honestly guys, can anyone argue this is FC3, with simple flight model and that this shouldn't be an issue at all? Broken gear on a DCS level plane - any day, cool! But not on my F15! Please ED take this seriously, I am forced to tell my friends not to buy FC3, how could I look them in the eye when they sit on the tarmac on their belly?!

As others said, my survival rate went way up after I learned only to take 2 mavs (1 for each wing) and 2-4 bombs max. This loadout with 50-65% fuel and a lot of threads don't seem that impossible anymore. Don't be too scared with that jettison stores button, he is a life saver! Also make yourself a missions with different sams and just fly in there and practice evading. Diving behind a mountain is the most fool proof way, but as Eno described so well, there may be lots of more trouble waiting below.. :D

Wenn englisch kein problem ist kann ich dir in sachen FC3 die Server vom 51st und den 104th empfehlen. Dort laufen den ganzen Tag pvp missionen und irgendwer ist immer im teamspeak. Ich häng auch öfters auf dem STP TS rum, wenn du irgendwelche fragen zu FC3 hast kannst mich auch gerne damit anhauen, bin aber eigentlich auch fitter mit der A10C oder der Mustang. :)

Do I understand it right, that the TS info is not posted public? It demands a registration (which in turn has to be authorized by an admin) which I guess he hasn't come around to. Seems like a lot of trouble for a mission? :D Why not just post the info here? (Btw I support a server that 'enforces' VOIP usage this way, but atleast please don't make the TS addy a secret) If i missed the TS IP written down there somewhere - probably in big red letters - sorry for the fail, carry on. :D

Did you use the H version? That one you can "lock" on the ground/buildings etc. I think. With a D or G it should have locked on the vehicle. Have not try'd to kill them with Mavs, but with guns they explode and you get a static kill (building) so it should be possible.

Now I can finally forgive and forget that landing gear stuff on the F15 :D

First go for the tutorial and only use the manual to read stuff up, its pretty good structured for that. After you get the most basic stuff like landing, mavericks, guns etc. go on multiplayer servers and join the respective TS3 channels. You can best learn playing with other people and the in depth knowledge will follow in time. I would suggest you only learn about stuff that really interests you right now. For example, you don't really need to know how the ILS works if you don't want to do ILS landings anytime soon. But when you watch a tutorial about a low visual ILS landing you might want to look the relevant pages up and make sure you know which button does what. :)

I can only guess but for the sake of a quick answer I would say it's LSS (Laser Spot Search?) in the TGP. I wasn't aware that lases from JTACs are modded at all, I will have to try that soon. Everyday somethin new! :)

From Enos first link: Popup - Informative call that a contact has suddenly appeared. The AWACS will give you BRA - Bearing Range Altitude (300° 80miles @ 10k feet for example). With AWACS you have to be a bit careful, sometimes he only tells the bearing from bullseye (he will say so) but if you call him directly and ask for bogey dope he will tell you the nearest threat from your position. Use this (with FC3 or later DCS Jets) in Multiplayer to communicate with other players. Best tip for new players is to get online, join one of the big servers/communitys and get on their TS3. All those months you wasted to learn stuff on your own that somebody can explain to you in 5 sentences alone is worth it. :)

When you hit refresh for the server browser, does the mission running time go up? Because if it is stuck on the same number the server probably crashed. I noticed this with the akado server from time to time.

Hatte auch Probleme mit der A10C CD ver. aber update (von DCS:World!) über die kommandozeile hat geholfen. Wurde ja oben schon angeschnitten, anstatt verknüpfung (shortcut) zu machen kannst du auch auf: -> Start -> Ausführen (bei Windows 7 in die Suchleiste eingeben) -> Jetzt kommt ein Fenster mit "Öffnen:" und einem Programm Pfad. Hier einfach "<Programmpfad>\DCS WORLD\bin\DCS_updater.exe install a-10c" eingeben und enter. Man kann auch anstatt "install <modul>" "update <ver. nr>" machen. Der Kopierschutz sollte sich dann das erste mal wenn du das Game mit A10C startest bzw. eine Mission mit der A10 öffnest melden und dich nach dem Key fragen.
