  1. I flew a quite long time without any headtracker. To view switches and so on i used my POV-hat and zoom. Works good and is a working solution... but since i have a headtracker I don't wanna miss it. Once you set it up properly and got used to it, it is one of the best pieces of hardware you ever got for your simming experience
  2. The pinky is the switch for your right hand 5th finger as DTWD said. If you programm the Stick with the saitek SST software you can use it like a modifier (shift / alt / ctrl) on the keyboard. So you will have "Fire A" and "Pinkie + Fire A". I even set the clutch button as a modifier, so I have the pure button, the pinkie, the clutch and pinkie + clutch for one button. Together with the 3 Stick-Modes that makes 8 possible functions for one button! (although I roughly use 2 modes) EDIT: To TrackIR: I didn't have one for quite a while and it works without it. But now that I have one, I would never fly without it again. It's extremely useful to be able to turn your view with your head, especially in dogfights, but still very useful in air-2-ground. For example a dive for a gunrun would start with you being close above your target, with it set up at 10-11 or 13-14 o'clock. You look down at the edge of your canopy, lay eyes on the target and roll over - pull until you are aligned and smoke it. Works like a charm with TrackIR. Imagine to do this with a cooliehat to adjust your view, simply impossible
  3. Klick on your aircraft (indicated by skill = "player" on the right side. Klick on the Bomb symbol (second in the row) to get to the loadout menu
  4. If your objective is to bomb the bridge, bomb the bridge... Thats quite realistic I guess. But the first mission of Georgian Hammer is not necessarily the bomb bridge mission! There are at last two missions for each stage of the campaign
  5. Does it behave like this regardless of the selected mission/campaign/quickstart?
  6. Have you selected the default file for 3 monitors? You've postet the default 1 monitor file. There are others that can be selected in the options menu, try the one that says "3 Screens"
  7. Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Ok, that's a thing I have to get myself into first ^^ But thanks for the hint, I'll do it after the weapon tutorials. But this could take some time... This won't affect multiplayer afaik, I never experienced problems with the altered config file.
  8. My thoughts on this: The rewards offered for the kickstarter funding are awesome and I'd like to have them. This is unless it puts ED in financial trouble. DCS is my favorite SIM and I backed the project because I am really keen on it. I'm happy it will be continued after what ever happened with RRG, but if the rewards somehow affect ED and therefor possibly ending the future of DCS is not worth it.
  9. Started with some ideas for weapon delivery of the a10's weapons arsenal, but I kind off ran into a problem. First I wanted to make a series of how to employ different weapons with some pointers where they are most efficient, then I saw that this would target mostly inexperienced people. This leads to the problem, that not engaging but finding the targets is something important to learn aswell. So now I am thinking if I should do a tutorial on data management like flightplans, markpoints, tgp usage... Or is this too early to start? I guess I don't want to spoonfeed everything that is needed...
  10. The F15 recieved a new flight physics model, therefor behaves more like a real plane than flying on rails like with the old FC model. If you have too sensitive controls, try adding a curvature. I prefer getting used to it though, so I still have a linear response on my controls.
  11. This has perhaps been mentioned, still want to throw in my 2 cents: You can switch the coordinate system for the F10-Map by pressing CTRL-Y if I am correct. If not: look it up in keybindings under the "general" tab. Available coordinates are L/L in seconds aswell as in hundreths, UTM and X/Y/Z coordinates used by the game. EDIT: If you play AFAC in an A10 and want to give UTM coordinates, you can also swith the coords displayed in the TGP to UTM vía the CTRL tab of the TGP
  12. Good idea. I initially thought saying something about keybindings is a bit to much spoonfeeding, but adding them as text is a nice idea! I'd be happy to hear ideas on future tutorial topics aswell. Especially if you think you have a topic there is no tutorial video for it. I personally can't think of anything that won't be for example the 100th JDAM drop tutorial out there, although thats the best Idea I currently have ^^
  13. Hi, I wanted to share a tutorial video I made and would like to have your opinion on it. I guess it can be useful for beginners, and perhaps even some experienced Pilots could at least find the part from 3:20min helpful. Thanks, Mav
  14. I did a test with 3 positions of igla + huey: -at an airport -in the open -in the open with supply truck The igla at the airport was happily firing iglas nonstop. The igla in the open fired 3 times and started a picnik. The igla with the supply truck fired multiple times until I took control. I was able to fire 3 times until the reload timer of ~3600s startet. I then released control of the unit and took control again: fire away! (this seemed to work only once, but I didn't try it again to verify, but there is a reload button for CA if I recall correctly? I hardly use CA...) In a second try w/o taking control the igla at the truck fired endlessly again, getting off 18 missiles in 5min16. Noticable are 3 shots in rather quick succession and then a pause while rearming. EDIT: While firing the igla manually, you have a 16s reload phase, then about 5s until lock is established. After the third missile the reloading phase is ~3600s, unless you are anyway near supplys. If you hit the resupply button it takes 12s to resupply. (which is interesting, because it is ready to fire after resupply, there is no additional reloading phase. So firing manually seems to be faster, as there was a noticable longer delay after 3 missiles of the AI controled Igla)
  15. Thanks, that kindoff solved the problem. I was able to add every button I needed, although I'm still puzzled by the fact that free button assignment is blocked by default.
  16. Hey guys, I just realized that my key assignments for my cougar mfd's had been reset with the 1.2.8 patch. Unfortunately the keys are greyed out for the A10, as it seems to accept only MFD buttons by default. As I don't need gain or brightness settings on the buttons, I'd like to get steerpoint rocker and steermode back on those buttons. I had the same issue when I got the mfd's, and found a lua profile that was empty in regards of key assignments, but loading it enabled be to assign the mfd's button to anything I wanted. As there is a new file structure, I'm not able to use this file again nor load my saved mfd profiles. Any help much apprechiated, Mav
  17. perhaps drifting and exploding correlates with your speed...
  18. You can rearm while you do your startup, that saves time. For the jammer: simply wait till it is equiped to flick the jammer switch to on
  19. As the Autolase-issue has already been resolved... Why not lase manually? You can set the laser in latch mode, so you don't have to keep NWS pressed while lasing. To do so, enter the CTRL page of the TGP and set latch to on (right side, OSB 8?). If latch is set to on, the first press of NWS will activate the laser, the second press will deactivate it.
  20. Most times those missions in the campaign are pretty simple: have a look at the battlefield situation on the planning map, remember your targets and their location, fly in the vicinity (~20nm is best for target search vía TGP) or ask the JTAC if available.
  21. I have used it for example to spot targets for allied Ka50 on a nighttime mission
  22. Sa10's are radar guided, so the MWS should not play a role in detection, unless there is a delay until they switch to STT mode. I'm not sure if tors still engage Mavericks, last time I tried to kill one it did not fire, but perhaps that was the bug. At last I'm sure tunguskas do not engage incoming missiles anymore.
  23. As already said, many threads can simply be avoided by overflying them. Keep at last 14000ft AGL to be safe from IR-Launches. Sa11 can be easily dodged as they fire from max. range. Simply spot where the smoke goes off, point your TGP (boresight) there and turn around. Repeat till the launcher runs out of missiles (each has 4) and kill it if you want to. Be aware that the Sa11 won't shoot at range if you destroy the search radar of the group (AGM-65H/K in force correlate comes in handy), but the launcher is still able to fire on closer range. So basically avoid IR/AAA by flying high if able to, Radar sams depend on their position and type: Very long range (S300) should be completely avoided if there is no terrain to take cover. Midrange sam (Sa11) can be engaged with terrain cover or by simply emptying them out. Shorter range sams like Tor can be engaged with Mavericks, if stationary I prefer force correlate (greater range). Tunguskas can be engaged with smart munitions if you are high enough (16000ft atlast?)
  24. If you get to use a computer with unlimited bandwith, just download 1.2.8, either beta or full release as you wish and install and update it on an external harddrive and copy that to your directory at home. Running that installation at home will give you the current version, and your configurations will stay the same as they are not saved in the game directory. I guess this is the most convinient way to obtain the current installation with such a limited bandwith. PS: you could also copy your current installation to an external hdd and run the dcs_update.exe in ...dcsw\bin\ directory. this should allow you to get a faster update with less datatransfer (internet-wise)
  25. And here we go, can't be more stupid than it actually is: snipping tool and afterwards gimp saved the images as JPG, capital letters. no problem at all until you encounter the DCS ME xD
