I just tried it and indeed selecting weapons on DSMS activates the default profile instead of the one I created. Didn't know that. DMS left and right however, selects my custom profile, I can tell by the name displayed on the HUD.
-
I switch into CCRP and select my weapons with DMS. Is there anything wrong with that? I'm still learning, about 15h of gameplay so far and only a couple of hours in actual missions.

So far I played both easy ones and winter medium. My wingman is busy picking his nose while telling me unable so he's not attacking anything. But like I said, sometimes I'm having this problem with JDAMs as well, even though I'm trying to designate my SPI from steep angle when I'm close to releasing point. Now I looked at my recent flights and and calculated, that my GBU-12 have about 70% accuracy, GBU-38 only 60% (counting drops on tanks only)

Sorry, forgot to mention, no this is singleplayer and it's one of those instant action missions, so I don't have any briefing with wind data to enter into laste. But that shouldn't be a problem with LGB right? It also happens randomly during the same mission and during bomb runs in the same area, so I doubt it's wind. Laser code is ok. Autolase was active, yes, I would have got autolase fail warning but I'm also observing the flashing L just in case. This isn't the first time I missed like that and it's happening with JDAMs as well, even when I'm trying to make that SPI dead on.

Hi. Is there anything I'm doing wrong when dropping GBUs? Look at the screenshot, that's a GBU-12 CCRP delivery. Angels 12. Cue falls down right through the center. Autolase at 10s. Straight and level flight. TGP not masked. I watched a video that explained how TGP might be looking "behind" the target and it's better to designate SPI with laser on (which I did) or steeper angle (which I did), but still, look where it ended. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong because I'm doing it in the exact same manner every time, yet sometimes it's right on target, sometimes it's like 5 meters away and kills the target anyway, sometimes THIS.

Yes, I have the same problem and I usually just give up on him and use him only for spotting targets or RTB. We're on the top of the targets he even reported to me. Always "Unable" or "Roger....Rejoin". And then he proceeds to mav some AAA from 8nm...:D Although I think it might be something with altitude, because when I commanded him to gun run some soft targets at my SPI yesterday, he did that just fine, but we were also at like 5000ft AGL.

What kind of Headtracking system are you using?
GeorgeLKMT replied to Griffon26's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Don't use leg length as a measure for polarity, that's wrong. Either refer to the datasheet and look for the flat edge, or better yet, even if you don't have any documentation, switch your multimeter to diode test and measure. -

Do you have a phone with camera? You can see IR leds with it. ;) Also, what kind of LED around you using? -
He cannot read anything in the cockpit because he's not using the High setting for textures. Solution, obviously, is to use High instead of Medium/Low. No texture mod is going to solve this. That, or open every cockpit texture in photoshop (or similar) and resave DDS without mipmaps. Then you can have high textures in cockpit while low textures for everything else. But I would advise to use the former.

How to see behind the stick without a TrackIR?
GeorgeLKMT replied to Stratos's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
You can move with your mouse, I think you need to hold middle button (wheel). And we need to refresh that "please make the stick togglable just like in many FSX planes" topic, because it's anoying. By the way, double scrollwheel click acts as switch between mouse clicking and mouse looking mode. -
Thanks guys, this is being really helpful. Do not mess with long range radar SAMs, that makes sense, but I was more worried about manpads and short range stuff, which might be harder to avoid and with manpads I just might not really see them until they fire. I remembered there's a immortal setting in DCS so I'm going to set up some SAMs and go try it. Also, I installed the tacview and downloaded those SAM evasion tracks, that's really good to actually see what's happening in a big picture rather than seeing video from cockpit. Programs; manual is it then. I also downloaded Eddie's custom CMS and it looks much better than the default ones but it also confirms that I'll have to learn a bunch of them. I first thought I might create like 4 custom ones (2 for rapid dispense, 2 for continous), but that's probably nonsense and this looks much better and more flexible.

Hey guys. This is something that I cannot really find in manuals and internet isn't helpful either, so I'm going to ask more experienced. There are two things that interests me at the moment: CMS programs: So, I know how to use the CMSP/CMSC, but how should I treat the programs to maximize the effectivity of CMS? I heard that it's better to use manual instead of (semi)auto, so are you just memorize which program is which and switch between them according to threat? Or it is better to create custom ones? Missile evasion: Are there any helpful resources that would help me with missile evasion except "get shot at and try your best until you learn it"? Or is that the only way? Some theory for proper evasion while getting targeted at low altitude, high altitude, head on, 9/3, close, far, etc... I know it's probably better to evade or disable the SAMs, but that's not going to help me once the missile is on the way. Thanks.

"More detailed tree models with collision for new maps" in the first post, so yes. Just note "for new maps" meaning probably not for the current map.
-
It changed for me in the past as well even though I haven't touched it, I don't know why it does that sometimes :)
-
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and on the left, there's a menu that lets you change your display language.
-
I see nothing wrong. On the screens you posted, you're looking at external model which is simplified, of course. On the screen they advertised, you have a shot of the cockpit itself.

I think they should start subscription based service together with microtransactions, because more money = more customers = more modules sooner. Right? That's how it works, right? Pay $0.29 to pickle this bomb. Bundle with autolase option for $0.49 and receive five gun runs absolutely free! Excuse while I'm going to cry while flying A-10C purchased for 12 bucks. Or play 2 years old 60 dollar AAA game I bought in steam sale for 2.99, stupid developers

Two weeks ago, I didn't have a clue what anything in the cockpit does. Now I can start the thing, fly, takeoff, land easily, use HOTAS quite well, employ all the weapons, set up profiles, mess with CDU at basic level and know all the symbology on TGP, HUD, TAD and so on... What I did: Read the manual (from the phone...on the toilet, really :D), but I think you can skip this one and just read the importnant stuff while needed, not read it like a novel. You'll forget half of the stuff anyway. Printed this, seriously, it's helpful. I have it on my desk at all times. DO IT. Looked at actual HOTAS configuration, sat down, grabbed a paper, and mapped ALL the buttons to my setup, because I don't have the TM WHog. Downloaded some checklists, decided I don't like them and made my own. But you can use what you find just fine or go with the one in the manual. Having smartphone or tablet is helpful, better than alt-tabbing to look up something or printing 1000000 pages. Did ALL the training missions, some twice if it wasn't clear for me. Watched Bunyap's "on the range" videos on youtube, look him up. Used manual, more videos and google to give me answers, alternatively just asked here... Set up my own training mission with practice targets and flown everyday testing stuff, practicing maneuvers, more testing, etc... Basically, I went step by step. Learned one thing and moved on when I knew I can do it from memory, more or less.

OK so that's good to know. Definitely not speedbrakes. Keeping your speed up actually makes sense, yeah.
-
I just tried it and it looks like I was wrong after all because even in 400kt dive PAC holds the aircraft right on target, sorry about that. You should be getting PAC indication on the HUD when it's active.
-
I'm hog newbie myself, so there might be better people to give advice but... I think you're too fast and PAC just can't compensate anymore. I had the same problem when I was too fast during the high angle dives, but since I started watching my speed more, not anymore.

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
GeorgeLKMT replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Well, on B they installed a new HUD instead of A's being projected right onto the windscreen and ALR-67 indicator was added (you can see it on that photo on the right). F-14A had only threat warning lights. There might be more changes, only those two I can remember... And by the way, that second photo has no improved HUD but it does have RWR, so it might be early A+ before they fitted HUDs... but now I'm guessing, I'll consult my books :P
