  1. If you select one of the snap views while in the pit and release it, you can then find the exact view you want using track IR. When you have it positioned just right, pause track IR and hit RALT+NUM0 to save it. The next time you select the same snap view it will show the view you have saved rather than the default snap view you started with. If you have programmable buttons on your controller you can then program the snap view keystrokes to an available button. You also have to go to the DCS Options/Misc page and enable "user snap view saving" before it will work.
  2. Go to your DCS World Options/Controls menu and scroll down until you see HOTAS That will show you the keystrokes associated with these commands. Short means a short press, Long means hold it down a few seconds.
  3. I use a laptop with an Intel Core2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53GHz and 4GB ram with 3D rendering turned off and it works just fine. You can also just hit the F10 key for map mode when hosting.
  4. Just do a search for gaming servers and you will see many options available. I host up to 10 clients on a cheap laptop and rarely have any problems. It's more important to have the necessary bandwidth than it is expensive hardware.
  5. This is from page 68 of the user manual and may be something of value. Mission Options The Mission Options menu can be used to lock certain gameplay options for the particular mission loaded. When the "USE THESE OPTIONS FOR ALL MISSIONS" check-box is unchecked in the Options\Gameplay menu, the locked mission options will override the settings in the main Options. However, when the "USE THESE OPTIONS FOR ALL MISSIONS" check-box is checked, the settings in the main Options screen will take priority.
  6. Which also brings up the question as to why this self-reinforcing structure exists, but if we knew that we wouldn't be discussing here I guess. At least this thread proves that it exists... For me the answer is simple. Everything I do or have ever done has been a selfish act regardless of how I may have tried to delude myself into thinking it was for the benefit of others.
  7. Try this http://addons.teamspeak.com/directory/addon/miscellaneous-plugins/CrossTalk.html
  8. Although it's hard to get something like this organized considering individual schedules and time zones, I will see if I can get one of our mission makers to come up with a mission that would be appropriate to join our groups together for an event. It would probably have to be capped at 10 pilots just to avoid the usual connection pitfalls and TS chaos.
  9. Considering the OP I have to look back and remember us to good old days because I think we lost a lot more even though we get a lot with the current level of this simulator I think there is a principle involved that hasn't yet been addressed in this thread. That involves the addiction factor. People that are addicted to something are usually the last to admit it. They perceive it as a weakness and enter a state of denial. I am an addict and have been all my life. I approach DCS as an addict and have become addicted to it. IMO anyone that plays a video game every day whether it be a FPS or a study sim does so because they have become addicted to it whether they admit it or not. That said, what an addict always needs is more of the "drug of choice" so to speak, to achieve the same high. What ED has failed to produce soon enough is more of what an addict needs, so many have turned elsewhere for their fix. IMO this is what has led to the decline in overall enthusiasm, and I fear that the longer it goes the worse it will get. When EDGE finally arrives, who will still be around to appreciate it?
  10. Thanks for the suggestions Eno. I have tried every imaginable fix and combination of settings changes and still nada. It's not important enough to worry about any longer. Cheers
  11. What I have found is that there are many that think that someone should knock on their door and try to convince them to come out and play instead of being proactive and seeking out the groups that are still flying good coop missions with coms and enjoying it on a regular basis. I have posted many an invitation with very little response. Maybe it's because there are so few that fly the study sims and my group doesn't include the FC3 aircraft. Beats me. Many seem to have the attitude that a multiplayer server should be an entitlement that comes with the package and fail to realize that it is only though the voluntary efforts of community members that they are available at all. I'm not going to dwell on the past but rather continue to enjoy this sim every day as usual.
  12. Using 7.0 and nothing in the log file looks unusual.
  13. That's how I have it set up but no joy.
  14. One already has
  15. I posted a link to this thread on the Ragtag forum so maybe some of my buddies will volunteer.
  16. When hosting a mission on the MP server I have the slmod command "pause when empty" set as true bit it's not working. When a client enters the mission it does not un-pause the mission as it should. Any ideas?
  17. Just be sure your mouse cursor is at the very top or bottom of your screen before you hit ESCAPE. If your cursor just happens to be in the same spot as an aircraft slot it will do that.
  18. Oil derricks can be placed anywhere on the map using the mission editor to form this type of scene.
  19. Well look what the cat dragged in. Good to see you back in the forum sir. Got any new missions cooking? Baltic....I'll PM you with an email address where you can send a script.
  20. Last night my group ran a favorite mission called FOB Vetka with one of the weather systems. Clouds moved in while cranking up the hogs and a light shower fell while we taxied. After takeoff we flew east away from the rain and proceeded to the AO. While on station big puffy clouds moved in and made the low level target markers a real challenge to see but it really enhanced the immersion factor. I didn't notice any performance hits and I think that these days most folks probably have the hardware to handle dynamic weather just fine.
  21. Most of our humble group is enjoying this mod and enjoying the view. Thanks!
  22. If you look at THIS GUIDE and scroll down to where it shows how to modify the lua file, look for centerZ and centerX. It looks like those numbers determine the location.
  23. You mentioned that you have a few systems set up. Would you mind posting the lua files so I could try them out?
  24. Thanks again, I finally got it working. Now all we need is a new source of lua files created by those that are skilled at this and a directory for easy access by the community. I think this would add a new dimension to missions that is sorely needed while we wait for EDGE.
  25. I tried that over and over with every imaginable combination of clicks but still no joy. I'll look at it again soon. There is probably something simple that I have overlooked as usual. How long should it take to see the weather change in a mission? Does it matter what month or season are chosen?
