Bf109 K-4 pre-stall buffeting...
otto replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
At almost the same wing loading you have: Messerschmitt Bf 109K uses this airfoils: NACA 2R1 14.2 NACA 2R1 11.35 The 109 airfoil is better suited for turning compared to the laminar flow wing p51. Better horsepower/ ton ratio. And you are trying to tell me it's because of the 109's slats that the 109 stalls harder ? When every pilot that's flown both planes tells the exact opposite. -

A stall is more violent in a wing with slats ? Concurrent testing was concluded by the Scientific Research Institute of VVS and LEE NKAP in testing the effectiveness of elongated automatic slats on the MiG-3. With slats, the engineers and test pilots noted that the fighter ceased to stall without warning, the fighter also proved easier to control while executing aerobatic maneuvers. The MiG-3 was easily leveled prior landing; in other words, it gave more control and did not have a tendency to roll over to the side when the pilot pulled on the control stick. - The results noted: Automatic slats, length 2004 mm, on the serial MiG-3 considerably eliminated stalls and increased controllability when speed was lost. Before a stall, the aircraft would warn the pilot by rocking, and when a stall was imminent, the aircraft dipped its nose and banked to the right. The installation of the slats considerably simplified piloting and made it possible to control the aircraft with a loss of speed. - From empirical tests it was seen that fighters with “smooth” wings, critical speed leveled off at 190 km/h but when the slats were added the speed dropped to 155-160 km/h. In certain conditions, for example when turning, the MiG-3 completely stopped stalling. Its behaviour tended to give more warnings than with 1573 mm slats. - The majority of test flights were done by test pilots A.I. Zhukov, V.N. Savkin, V.T. Sahranov, noting that thanks to the slats, piloting the plane was a lot easier." I can post about 1000 pieces of text that show that aircraft stall characteristics improve when having slats. -

What i noticed is that i can catch the stall of the p51 ,it falls on one wing gradually, easyer to catch the stall at a lower speed . On the other hand the 109's stall is more violent it's either 1(wing stalls) or o(wing doesn't stall) and there is very little between the wing falling hard and not falling at all. It doesn't make sense. For an almost equal wing loading(whel loaded with fuel like below) the 109 has s thicker wing ,slats, and a better power to weight ratio. It should be the p51 that stalls harder and the 109's stall should be easyer to ride. p51 wing loading 185.02 28% fuel 109 wing loading 187.9 10% fuel RX61DpQw0JM UkQTd5-1q0M -
Sad to here about he's son.

I want to say that the "Ground behavior" Of both 109 and d9 is very very well done and far more advanced than in any other simulation. With the d9 you can actually feel the wheels losing and gaining grip when you slide around the runway sideways.

When you were flying on jg27 server in formation of two.You didn't even know i was flying for the past 5 minutes in a 109 without ammo 5 meters on your six. I only pushed the trottle to fly in front of you just for the fun of it. I got shot down because i was laughing so hard. Oh and if you thing it's too easy give me your trackir and fly without headtracking like me and without rudder pedals.Maybe like that it will be more difficult for you.

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)

So only in perfect "Laboratory" conditions the missile will have 100% chance to hit. Now i understand .
-
So if a missile is fired and the target plane's pilot puts a mountain peak between him and the missile it's still going to hit right ? Because it's 100%. You think i made a mistake about the decimal or i just didn't care enough?

It's good to know it's being fixed.

It's very fine line you need to walk on with failures. Because for example if someone has little time to fly because of work , family etc and ( i'm taking here from my own experience). If this person tries one mission and get's a random failure.Than after one week of work tries another mission and gets another failure it's going to get really frustrating. And the other team in MP isn't going to be thrilled either to not be able to get kills because all 262 pilots have failures and need to bail out. Now of course it's also not realistic for this planes to not have failures. Finnaly for example: Franz Schall Hauptmann JG7 Killed in flying accident 10 April 1945. Someone who reads that might say "Might be a me262 failure" but it's actually a bomb crater that destroyed the plane after landing. Also the plane was reliable enough to let this guy shoot down 14 planes while flying the 262 that's more than the average piston engine pilot of the war . -
There's no such thing as 100% hit probability.which your word impossible would describe. Even if one in 10000 missiles fails to hit you still get 9.9999 hit probability. In the six day war missiles were utter crap: "bidon" as described by the isralian pilots. The 120 missile has only a 60% hit probability and one of the aircraft it targeted was a US helicopter. On 20 january 1973 in Missile testing range at Point Mugu California a F14 shot itself down with it's own missile. How many sparrows did the f14 pilots fire at the libian mig 23s ? because it's more than 2 .

I can't say it wasn't funny :D . -
Both planes are works of art. But tonight mirage drivers got migd.

With threads like this appear a lot of mouth heroes : "O my god i just can just shoot the crap out of the other planes with these cannons.(I'm such a good shot)". Even if the cannons had the power of 50 caliber mgs you would still be able to shoot down planes. But you can do that even in a 1998 game. For example i got 61 hits on a p51 : Of course i could shoot down a p51 with less shots. But the fact that you can put 60 30mm rounds in a p51 is absurd.Even 10 is too much. The thing is i'm going to fly online mostly mig21 so i can't say it's going to make a big difference to me if the damage model stays the same. But i'm just trying to make the simulation more accurate.
-
My opinion is it looks good.If i compare it to this one : MlqMGzrcqks

fpUQ15MHsd0 Above is damage model in game in one of my few flights. Min 1.22 min 2.00. Fp3I4mXWh1Y Above we can see Mirage 3 gun camera footage in six days war, yom kipur ..... Guns are too weak in game imo.

Ist die M-2000C einen Kauf wert? JA
-
I'm going to sleep soon.Hope the Mirage will be available when i wake up.

I think your point is absolutely true concerning relative speed and climb but too many emoticons on same page. I've read a bunch of german publications and a climb rate value of 22m/s is mentioned . In game currently is 25 m/s or so. Also the 109's turn rate in game that does't really match up what i read.
-
I didn't say there is an issue .

Percy Spencer, an engineer with the Raytheon Corporation discovered the effects of micro waves on food because a candy bar melted in his pocket while he was working on an active radar set .Sometimes brilliant discoveries are made by chance. Who started this thread has nothing to do with what Crump and Hummingbird have presented.

Ich hatte keine ahnung dass der leistung so schlimm ist.Ich glaube dass auf meine system Nevada würde mit etwa 15 Frams laufen.
