That did make me laugh and you are in so much trouble if she hacks your account and reads what you wrote, then you will have no girlfried or dog to worry about haha

ED has always opened its platform for developers. We developed for LockOn, FC1 and FC2 and now DCS ?? The thing with LockOn is that no-one charged for their "mods". Also the thing to remember here is that similar to the FSX market, you chose which products to buy and not to buy. No one is forcing you to buy "any old toss" and your decision will be based on screenshots, videos and people's experience of the add-on. From a development and sales point of view, if a team makes a bad add-on then it won't sell and that team will have a bad reputation in the community and future sales will drop. Once you lose trust from your customer base, it's very hard to recover from it, even if a kick-ass product is made. People will always question the command of said life-raft becuase they think they can do better, or don't fully understand why some commands are given. That's the nature of life and freedom of speach.

(sarcasm) I thought Nate was developing that hehe (/sarcasm)

All I can say is that there is a screening or approval process, certainly from my point of view and VEAO using the DCS name anyway. I also think developers need to state very clearly what level the aircraft is at, either lower fidelity or DCS fidelity. However, please remember we are all working with ED to develop and see how things works out. There is way to much speculation going on here for what the community knows and doesn't know and time will tell. I'm with you all in that I also want to purchase the highest fidelity products if that's what I'm being sold. To me a DCS branded product will also have all of the things you would expect form a DCS product, including typical DCS full manual, etc.

I can pretty much confirm that the Virtual Red Arrows will be swtiching over to DCS when we have the Hawk up and running. All of the VEAO development team are from the VRA and have flown together for many years. I love areobatic flying just as much as combat so the Hawk definitely fits this and opens up the way to many more teams and solo demonstrations.

Well it took me a little while to write the first post haha And I thought the ED forums for DCS: Hawk and Tiffy were a give away ;) Hopefully I've answered your questions elsewhere but yes we are looking at developing buildings and terrain as well as aircraft but it's very early days yet. We also want to have two seater capability for training and ACTS integration so that is certainly a goal of ours. Thanks for all of your comments guys, keep them coming.

A great start there buddy

Creating a 3D aircraft from scratch..
Ells228 replied to deltahawk2008's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Our Typhoon for FC1 took around 12 months to build and skin for the RAF project we did, but we had 3 key people working on her and a team of people gathering data. We then made some changes for the FC2 public release. The 3d cockpit took around 4 months to get right and we're still working on it. Taking her to DCS level is going to take another several months and then there's DCS integration with the MFCD's as she uses the MFCD's for pretty much everything including engine dials. Bearing in mind that she has been made in spare time, but almost all spare time. I'd go with 3 years being a good estimate for part time work. -
VRA May 2012 Newsletter Sponsorship Contract Renewal The past 6 months has been an exciting time for the team with pilots attending many live events from Weston-Super-Mare to Gatwick to Duxford to Paris, all showcasing our displays and the Thrustmaster HOTAS WARTHOG TM which we believe to be the best flight simulator joystick technology for virtual aerobatics. With this, the Virtual Red Arrows and Thrustmaster are pleased to announce that we have renewed our sponsorship contract strengthening our relationship. We are planning to attend many more events this year around Europe showcasing the HOTAS WARTHOG TM and letting members of the public fly along with us and use this great product. Look out for more details below and in upcoming posts on our Facebook and Twitter pages. HOTAS WARTHOG TM details here: http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_UK/products/hotas-warthog-0 FSC Weston Charity Auction Unfortunately we won't be able to fly live this year at FSC Weston on the 19th and 20th May, however Chris Ellis (RED12) will be at the event on Saturday the 19th talking to the public about our displays. Thrustmaster have also generously donated a HOTAS WARTHOG TM for the charity auction taking place on Saturday the 19th May, so head down to Weston-Super-Mare for this great event and for your chance to get your hands on this amazing product. FSC Weston details here: http://www.fscweston.co.uk/ Flying Legends 2012 With the Beta release of DCS P-51D Mustang and the upcoming Flying Legends airshow on June 30th and July 1st, our good friends at The Fighter Collection have asked Chris to take his PC along into hangar 2 at Duxford for the weekend to let members of the public fly the DCS P-51D Mustang simulator. So why not come along and see if you have what it takes to fly a classic World War II fighter plane. Flying Legends details here: http://www.fighter-collection.com/legends.php Team News It is with sad news that we have to announce that Chris Ellis (formally RED8 in 2011) has had to leave his flying position due to personal circumstances. Chris is still working very hard with the team as our PR Manager, setting up live events and displays as you can see form the events listed above. This means that our current recruits are training very hard for the 2012 season to get to an active pilot position before our first live show. Therefore we are looking for new recruits to train with us for the 2012/2013 season. If you are interested in joiing the team, please go here for details: http://www.virtualredarrows.com/information/recruitment Stay up to date with exciting news, images and videos on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Haha yeah mine do to actually. My work team and the development team ;)
-
Haha well no pictures of you bathing in the back garden lol Still too early to know to be honest. I'm focusing more on aircraft than terrain at the moment. Gotta have something fun to take that MiG out ;)

At the moment trials are ongoing for an FM in FC2 on the Hawk and we have an excellent 3d cockpit model that the VRA are using so a DCS port should be relatively easy. Tiffy as you can imagine will take longer as no dials, it's all on the MFCD's so a lot of work to do there. I have a GR4 model and cockpit but it needs a lot of tweaking to get to DCS standard so may be a while off yet. My plan is to release the external models for free so non-purchased pilots will see the model even if they haven't bought the mod. Anywho we're a way off yet but development is going well. Everything DCS level. As mentioned in another thread 2 seater may be possible but as DCS is single seat some changes may have to be made to "World" for this to happen but I'm speculating here.

Yeah good point Sobek. I haven't heard from him in a while, I'll make contact. I would love to have a flyable Harrier in DCS and who knows we may be able to do it with a little help from our friends but I think it's a long way off to get the flight model right. But I would want VTOL and would't be happy putting out a product that didn't have it. Our plans have always been the Typhoon and Hawk but that was due to things I can't talk about on here.

Blimey Paul, you slave driver!!! Lol We are actually working on some terrain, but it's more Cyprus for The Virtual Red Arrows. Im wondering if Batou is looking to get his Afghan terrain into DCS. I have an early build for FC2 and it's great.
-
Also we had a Vulcan in the Virtual Red Arrows display in FC2 last December. I'll ask the developer if he plans on releasing it to port to DCS.
-
http://www.veao.eu will give you a good idea ;) Early days still but we hope to have something to alpha test soon. And i thought the "European" bit may give it away a tad lol
-
We (VEAO) have looked at the Harrier in DCS an actually started an early build but it would take a lot (at the moment) to get VTOL working properly. At the moment we are developing another project that you should like that is tailored to us Brits and Europeans ;)

Looking good guys :)

Great job HiJack :)

"DCS...where dreams become reality" I think that should be the new marketing slogan huh Jim and Matt With all the 3rd party development potential, I'm sure it will happen someday. I'm dreaming of a Spitfire personally.

Some great dogfighting going on there

Sorry Ivan, I spilt all the beans doing those multiple loops. You should see the state of my canopy :/

I present to you a display I flew for The Friends of the Fighter Collection event at Duxford in March 2012. It is a single ship display of the Horsemen show routine from Duxford Flying Legends in 2011. Disclaimer: This was using an early build to showcase the sound and physics of the DCS world. http://youtu.be/fFYRKKffkF8 I hope you enjoy it, Ells.
