Hopefully not one of these....

Looking forward to part 2 T and these guys better have their formation skills up to scratch too ;)

Great, thanks Dmitry

I'd say that update was for the FSX version not DCS, but hopefully I'm proved wrong. I can't wait to fly this bird (in DCS).

Guys, you need to remember this is a big step change from FC modding and overlaying existing aircraft which was relatively easy. You are talking about fully featured fully customisable aircrafts and flight models. I can't say much as I'm under an NDA as you also know but a big change happened a couple of weeks to be able to protect ED and 3rd party dev's work. Also a lot of things are still being developed by ED, some on 3rd party dev and your suggestions. No one is saying features won't be opened up to the community to develop but be patient and let the dev teams and ED tackle problems and solve issues to make it easier for you in the future. There are things we cannot tell you right now, that is the business of developing. We will help where we can of course but when me ways of doing things are brought in we all have to learn new ways to do things. An SDK has not been developed yet so you can just plug into it. Please be patient. Chris

Great update EB and functionality list too.

I disagree with you there Skates. ED have change the way some things work in order to help dev teams create a better product. External surface animations tied into EAFM as an example. It just seems like there's a 10 foot wall with reinforced steel in it. Be patient for the best is yet to come. P.s. try the JDAM instead ;)

Thanks for posting and I did read it all lol A little insight into a 3rd party dev's mind might answer some of your questions and requests. Obviously I can only talk about our development plan and what we do and I'm sure every 3rd party dev team is different. Ok so first we need to come up with a concept. And I don't mean a single plane, I mean a concept of ideas for planes, missions, scenarios, terrain, etc. I'm sure some dev teams out there just want to sell planes, and are very good at it, Iris as an example. That's their business, to sell add-ons. A good solid business model should see you make profit on your sales given your outlay. So from a business point of view you have to look at your return and what will sell, not particularly what will fit into an era or style. On the other side of the hand you have a team like us. FC/DCS enthusiasts that are looking at scenarios/eras and concepts. This is where it gets tough from a business model point of view. To build a scenario or era takes a lot of development time with planes, ground units, terrain, etc. each of which can take many months or years to develop. Return on investment is virtually nil and the business model just doesn't work. So which route does a 3rd party dev go, just build and sell planes they think will sell, or create a scenario /era. It's pretty much each to their own. Of course we should all listen to what the customer wants but sometimes it just doesn't fit with a business model. I'm sure as more mods are sold and someone creates an era then development will shift to that era. And of course not all mods are popular with everyone. I think the work Beczl is doing is amazing and I have the utmost respect to him but the MiG does nothing for me and I won't be buying it. When we start flying with the F22 and Typhoon hopefully someone will develop adversaries for them. Lets even through an F35 in the mix and these planes will sell due to popularity. For us at VEAO it's about the scenario, planes, ground units, trainers (Hawk) and terrain. But you know what, to do all that is going to take time. Is there interest in an Afghan terrain, ground buildings and units integrated into Combined Arms with A-10's and choppers for support, I bet there is. But again it's going to take time to develop that scenario fully and hopefully other 3rd party devs will come together to have modules all working together. That's my dream at least. Anywho these are just my thoughts on the matter and hopefully gives you an insight. Cheers, Chris.

I went straight to the auto update from start menu and updated DCS World and all modules in about 20 minutes (8mb connection). No issues whatsoever for me. I would suggest doing the auto update from the start menu without opening the sim.

How does it look in 2D? -
clickable cockpit wrong helpers scale ?
Ells228 replied to Pat01's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Try 4m and then scale them down -
Well I was told there was a pen holder in the cockpit so I stuck it in the nodule thing where the throttle's slide thinking that was it but when I pushed the throttles forward into afterburner whilst inverted, it flicked out and hit the canopy causing me to startle thinking I had a bird strike and I got into a flat spin but fortunately recovered. Can i find that darn pen now after my brain was scrambled like that, hell no!!! :joystick:
-
Sorry guys, my fault. I dropped a pen in the Eagle cockpit during testing and well you know, the plane has to be taken out of service until it's found. ....runs away quickly
-
Wow looks awesome Tim. This is definitely one jet I'm getting!!
-
Well DCS World is still in Beta and Wags' signature concerns me for you guys "everything is subject to change" haha I can't wait to see your Hornet's up close in DCS HDR glory and hope HD Livestream is planned to fully appreciate it or it will be lost.
-
Yeah I told that to my EX-wife ;)

Ah come on. Ed have never taken backward steps. Maybe a few side steps to get the features that you guys request, but never backwards.
