  1. You want to really learn the Ka-50, go look up Cooper on the Nevada 2.0 , the F99th server guys in MP. He has the patience to teach anyone and he likes company. I taught myself the Ka-50 mostly doing the missions on the 104th server in MP in 1.5. Actually it was then the 1.2 version. Took me about a year to get fairly good. Met Cooper later on the old Tasmanian S-77th server with Savage, he had a great server once-upon-a-time. Cooper is the best Ka-50 pilot in game, bar none!! I use the CH Products gear and Konkussion lent me his Control Manager controls programmed .map mapping I still use. Have not seen Konkussion on since the 2011 hurricane that drowned the USA east coast.
  2. BitMaster, You have a really good opportunity, some guys would kill for, probably even where this machine is located. How old is this teacher? They must have universalized the coding by now; used to be machine specific.
  3. FAQ: Are you in danger from the WannaCry ransomware? http://www.infoworld.com/article/3196673/malware/faq-are-you-in-danger-from-the-wannacrypt-ransomware.html (Moderator: if you deem necessary this article does not relate to the discussion = delete it. )
  4. Me, too on a GTX 970 How I found out what worked for me was a bit tedious. Start with latest, experiment, then go backwards until you get what you want. Take a screenshot of your desktop prior to changing versions as the desktop layout always gets scrambled with me.
  5. https://www.askwoody.com/2017/nvidia-display-driver-has-multiple-kernel-vulnerabilities/ ( Do not know where to put this. Thought you guys should be aware of this. Place appropriately, please. )
  6. I run Win 7 Pro - 64 bit, still = KB4012212 Reference : Ask Woody (The Dummy Books --- author) =================================== https://www.askwoody.com/2017/how-to-make-sure-you-wont-get-hit-by-wannacrywannacrypt/ http://www.infoworld.com/article/3196825/microsoft-windows/how-to-make-sure-your-windows-pc-wont-get-hit-by-ransomware-like-wannacrypt.html This DCS forum, I usually just read. (Realize one thing---I am not a PC nerd. Me compared to you guys I am still a PC newbie, but was running CNCs back in the early 1970's on self contained systems in metal machine shop in USA. Company built self-contained air conditioned rooms per machine. LOL! The machines came from Germany. 2 of our senior foremen fought against USA during WWII ! The early machines were not CNC, yet but paper tape, even before the mylar based plastic tape, and coded by hand step-by-step in binary code. )
  7. I buy into Norton Security to protect my PCs and similar and have done so for years, them and a few others like Malwarebytes and Spybot. Have never had a really serious meltdown, yet. I got this message tonight, re: Norton: (in https: ) https://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/what-you-need-know-about-wannacry-ransomware?pifcamid=16161_82457_0&product=Norton%20Security%20with%20Backup&version=22.9.3.13&plang=sym:EN&layouttype=ESD&buildname=Retail&heartbeatID=7ED3EDA7-ED2F-4922-AF63-D09C260B3404&eapenabled=false&env=prod&vendorid=1000&plid=765&plgid=30&skup=21351089&skum=21363030&skuf=21352088&endpointid=7ED3EDA7-ED2F-4922-AF63-D09C260B3404&partnerid=1000&lic_type=16&lic_attr=17616914&psn=CX6YBHY6J8V9&puid=5039&osvers=6.1&oslocale=iso:USA&oslang=iso:ENG&os=windows GOOGLE_SEARCH : ============= https://www.google.com/search?q=Symantec+What+you+need+to+know+about+the+WannaCry+Ransomware&rlz=1C1BOHD_enUS487US526&oq=Symantec+What+you+need+to+know+about+the+WannaCry+Ransomware&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60.8656j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  8. This forum and you guys are the PC nerds. Was wondering if you guys ever got hit by the real-life stuff? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How to make sure you won’t get hit by WannaCry/WannaCrypt https://www.askwoody.com/2017/how-to-make-sure-you-wont-get-hit-by-wannacrywannacrypt/
  9. "Princess Leia's Stolen Death Star Plans/With Illicit Help From Your Friends" https://www.youtube.com/embed/NYD3QtyEGGM?ecver=1 (rather obvious I know diddly about this embedding thing...)
  10. +1 Thanks
  11. "Stayin' Alive" [bass cover] (re: Message #2034) #2 AND #3 "Boogie Wonderland" for bass (notes and tab in .pdf)
  12. Some Cartoon Music
  13. Lockheed P-38 >>> too bad Howard Hughes is gone. Bet he would have a word or two to say about this topic and his test flight where he crashed it.
  14. Sounds like you'd love working for Boeing or similar in the engineering department doing flight testing studies. That is an intense endeavor. There had to be original test data developing the various aircraft by the original companies but a lot of those companies went kaput. Wonder what happened to the paperwork files? Who would have them? Maybe the Smithsonian in Washington, DC . Maybe universities?
  15. TacView shows it all
  16. I got Atrial-Fibrillation attacks (heart issues) and more meds to take at age 63, 2 years ago. Yeah! The adrenaline rush sometimes almost sets me off!! I gots to be careful getting too immersed in the sim. Have had Time-Warner Cable Internet feed awhile. DSL does not do it!
  17. and its how-to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_Herders
  18. Or lose customers. Make it too difficult to spot enemy aircraft; there are other sims. An option would be nice. But will it be my choice to implement it in MP or the server administrator?
  19. I have not flown SP Single Player in flight combat sims in twenty yearsI Too boring.
  20. Quartermaster username makes conversion mods. Checkout and browse the MODS forum. Go to DCS download section >>> Users Files and browse. There must be a way to do the conversions, I suspect in the .lua files . Might ask the modders >>> questions.
  21. Watch TacView, a lot of those Mustang guys cruise at 4,000 meters and must have very high resolution screens to pick me out flying at tree-top level. They usually have a lot of inertia coming at me. 109 can out-climb a Mustang, but not if Mustang has a lot of stored up inertia from a dive. Mustang's guns have much longer guns range and lots of ammo >>> "spray and pray" ! AND most the guys flying on "Burning Skies" are not that good dog-fighting. I am one of them...
  22. Cooper says can't use that excuse anymore... and guns : {;^)
  23. Go to MULTIPLAYER = "Burning Skies" server. Fly 109 to kill targets to appreciate the better kill ratios and more ordnance availability to appreciate using the P-51. P-51 is the ONLY plane to use to kill ground "GV" (ground vehicles) targets as to its massive ordnance availability. Don't fly straight line leaving target area, use ailerons and rudder. Attacking I don't fly straight line, but alter altitude so enemy guns have to re-aim; also true if enemy is on your six. Most enemy guys just "spray and pray" from too far back if they have lots of ammo; use TacView" to observe what's going on. I would think in Mission Editor you can set the hardness effectiveness as to what the GV AI gunners are doing and how much ords it takes to eliminate a target. I know in "Burning Skies" server, the server moderator has made the targets harder to kill. I do pretty good as to end of the month scoreboard killing GVs with 109 with its only one big bomb and its limited ammo. I am going to do better with P-51!!
  24. I usually fly 109 to target area in MP, usually "Burning Skies" , down low and fast at 550 kph at 25 revs on the dial. I leave radiator set to auto. My issue is evading enemy fighters, climbing out to higher altitude and eventually seizing the engine. I cannot fly leisurely when trying to out distance enemy fighters. And since I mostly kill ground targets, I am usually out of ammo when jumped. So how do you guys manage your 109's engine in this environment?
  25. First sentence >>> set governor to manual; prop pitch to 11:30 o'clock . After take-off switch to auto governor, then gear up, then outer running lights off.
