^I had the same issue with the Saitek pedals. And again after restoring all of my control settings. I actually tried taxi & takeoff with them reversed. Flaming mess ensued.

It's not SLMOD.... I removed it a little while back when you guys expressed interest in servmon. I looked today and found nothing that could specifically ban anyone now. yay. My first guess was that your IP was listed somewhere.. firewall, ISP etc. But It sounds like you released and renewed your IP. Have you spoken with David? He had an identical issue I believe.

Actually those twin aerials on the tail and the "squiggly" (AN/APS-13) rear warning antenna were seen on P-51Ds during WWII. However, I don't think the twin AN/ARA-8 (navigational homing) antennas were seen in Europe. Only in the Pacific, due to the long expanses of water.

Love that book. It's one of my prized possesions.

Thank you. We are on the same page. (no pun intended)

Interesting find, Flagrum. Thanks for sharing your findings. I had no idea that was simulated either. The gunfire lag has taught me to keep bursts fairly short along with hopes of ammo conservation but this is another good reason to choose wisely.

Imagine the co-op TS comms... -Shoot him! He's right behind us! -Fly straight so I can! *boom*

I bet you could scare the crap out of some era specific CA guys with one though! :megalol:

I sure hope they model that P&W engine properly... It's a beast. "Ultimately, the maximum power achieved on the “B” series was 2800 HP at 2700 RPM. Maximum power ever achieved on the “C” series was 3800 HP at 2800 RPM. The maximum manifold pressure ever recorded was a staggering 150 inches of mercury (inHg)! This was up from dramatically from the 49-inHg maximum manifold pressure originally allowed in the R-2800 “A” series of engines." REFERENCE

Totally agree. I feel the free to play business model with gimmicky add-ons could result in the death of true simulators. The DCS P-51D has given me countless hours of enjoyment and I expect countless more to come. Try to put a cost/value measurement on that. Far better than any $60 console game I have ever bought. They deserve to get paid for that work. I'm ok with the idea of the P-51D being offered free as it has had the chance to produce revenue for ED but anything else, at this point, seems to threaten progress forward.

So by "injected" you mean the water-methanol is sprayed into the S/C and when the unevaporated water reaches the combustion chamber it has a cooling effect (on the cylinders) which is immediately noticeable? More immediate than the extra energy provided by the cooled dense air that entered the S/C? I had imagined the actual engine cooling would have been a more subtle secondary result. Do you have a reference where I can read more about this? I'd like to understand it better.
-
Yes. Roger. 100% agree with you on the function and purpose. Similarly, water injection on the R-2800 was to achieve the same goal. The ability to push the engine a little harder without the damaging effects of detonation. I guess I have just never seen such a thing stated in the way it is written in the manual.

Wellll.... not exactly. "Turning the system on immediately increases engine power by almost 100 HP due to the fact that a cooler engine can pull in more air" This specific statement. Is it really correct? Is lowered engine temperature the true cause of this immediate 100 hp? I'm trying to pose my question as delicately as possible. Most of my knowledge of such systems is for radial engines and carbs...and admittedly they are a bit different but as far as I know the theory of operation on each are fairly similar.
-
I see what you are saying but my point, possibly not clear, was that it's the cooling of the intake airflow not actually cooling the engine itself that would be providing any immediate power increase. Just seemed misleading to me the way it is worded.

Page 27. "Turning the system on immediately increases engine power by almost 100 HP due to the fact that a cooler engine can pull in more air. At the same time, turning on the MW-50 enables much higher supercharger boost levels." This doesn't seem quite right to me. Please do correct me if I'm wrong but "engine cooling" by this method would hardly be "immediate". If anything, I'd think the cooling effect on the air, making it more dense, would cause the immediate power increase. I'm always willing to learn something new, though.

Very small thing... Page 12. "Light allow Frise-type ailerons" Should that be alloy? Very interesting and thorough read so far.

Try to keep your airspeed up also. You need airflow to cool. Flying slow with high engine settings will kill the engine quick.

Wuff, What's up, buddy. I'm sending you a PM about the server stuff.

+1 Hopefully EDGE will truly make it all possible *fingers crossed* some others I'm hoping to see down the road... - Less vulnerable governor - it's like OUR governor is sitting on the cowling. / reduced chance that AI marksmen hit the gov on the first attempt. - Start-up throttle position issue - Visual damage on AI that actually equates to crippling damage. How many times have you seen an AI torn to shreds and leaking everything possible but continues to fly like a champ. - Battle damage that looks like bullet holes and not shrapnel. - Reduced fire effect for wing damage.

I agree. I never said ED provided any funding up till this point. One thing we can all agree on... this all has not gotten any less confusing.
-
I'm glad you agree so ardently. You stated that it's business as usual and I did not get that impression from what Wags said. Since this is a forum, I figured a discussion was the goal.
-
This of course is all speculation... But I understood there was: Money in place to develop the sim + KS money to accomplish extra testing and such. If the KS funds are completely exhausted at this point then I was assuming the initial funding was also included in that cash burn...leaving ED in this position to finish, sell off or abandon the progress. I doubt there would be such a reorganization and announcement if there was an employee change.

What about that statement by Wags, that the KS monies were used up in the development of the aircraft and map?
