  1. I think the article was a bit harsh saying DCS:WWII is in trouble. "Cliffs of dover and DCS are for moron simmers." -Comments section. Lots of love over there. lol
  2. ...and it may just be a ground crew member or something like that. Who knows. The reason I thought it might be someone special is because it is amongst some legendary others. The 13 other signatures account for 1,822 kills total in WWII. :gun_smilie: It's pretty crazy to even try to imagine that tally.
  3. I'd love for it to be Graf but I can't see that even being remotely close. Thanks for trying though, I appreciate the help. Interestingly, on your same page... look at the 5th picture down from the top. It says it's Erich Rudorffer but it looks much closer the mystery sig... but the last name seems to clearly start with an M.
  4. Don't mention it, bud. I like a challenge and knew it'd be rewarding for you knowing the personal significance. Honestly, I just started trying different ideas for keywords and flipped though far too many photos... and there it was. And my exact words were, "Holy crap I found it." :D I just wish there were more photos so we could make a proper skin.
  5. Check out these pages... Maybe July 27 1944? 47th Bomb Group escort mission & Mattison was a flight leader. E-BOOK LINK (Page 140)
  6. Dude... check this out :) Hard to find photos of that aircraft though. Your grand-dad picked a good pilot to get a photograph of! William T. Mattison (1916–1951) was born on October 16, 1916. He was schooled at the Pine Street School in Conway (Faulkner County) and attended Arkansas A&M College (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello) and Howard University in Washington DC, becoming a rural school teacher before his military service. Mattison graduated from Tuskegee’s flight program on October 9, 1942, as a second lieutenant. Mattison served as operations officer and a member of the famed 100th Squadron in Italy. Mattison also provided leadership to the 302nd Fighter Squadron in March 1943 and was a member of the 332nd Fighter Squadron (Red Tails). He was one of the most decorated Arkansans during any time of conflict, rising to the rank of major and earning the Flying Cross, the American Defense Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, and two Bronze Service Stars, among numerous other awards for campaigns in Rome, Arno, southern France, the Rhineland, the Balkans, northern France, the northern Apennines, and Po Valley. Mattison died in an airplane crash en route to Ohio on January 28, 1951, and his remains are buried at Arlington National Cemetery. There have to be more photos of the nose somewhere... I'm curious if it's Little "MAC" or Little "MAE"
  7. Whip, you are getting closer! Think about seeing where research on this guy might get you? Maybe he took more pics? Sounds like quite a character.
  8. With all the WWII enthusiasts here...anyone recognize this sig? I have a collectable aviation book with a bunch of Luftwaffe signatures in it and this is the only one I cant figure out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is driving me nuts.
  9. I've seen a few master server connection issues today. I can connect but it seems to be slow to respond and I've seen other connection related issues with the server that indicate some type of anomaly. Anyone else?
  10. Whip, don't waste your time on this troll. He managed to waste far too much of my time today calling me names. That's apparently how they do it in Arizona when they get a little sand in their vag. Somehow, I never noticed it during my stay at D-M. But be careful... he said we'd know if he's angry. I'm sure it's a terrifying sight. Soooo what flyables are you getting? I want to know every glorious prediction you may have...
  11. Oh another "wish" that comes to mind would be an effective and easy way to manage custom skins. The current method leaves a lot to be desired especially when running a public server. Maybe an automated prompt to allow the client to download the custom skins from a specific server?
  12. Being able to choose and save favorite servers and possibly a friends list to keep track of where your friends are currently flying would be a valuable addition to the current experience.
  13. You gave up on civil long ago, tttony. And now Mark Twain is rolling in his grave. The offer is still open to join TS anytime you wish to expound upon the errors of my ways, tough guy.
  14. Flyables Selection Is spewing juvenile insults your only talent? I was REALLY hoping you had something more to offer. I wish I still lived in AZ. And although PMing you all day sounds like such a pleasure, why not log onto our Teamspeak channel this evening? Can you fly and talk at the same time? By the way, I can imagine MOST things are a mystery to you.
  15. :) aren't you a sweetheart. Way to beat up on the guy trying to provide answers to people. I'm really sorry I hurt your feelings and made you feel insecure about your intelligence. I had figured if some people picked up the slack of figuring out answers for the simple and redundant questions then Luthier could be relieved of some of the overwhelming workload he is facing. However you, in all of your impressive wisdom, have convinced me otherwise. By the way... "All you said" was insulting and I responded to let you know that your attitude was not helping anyone.
  16. Very nice. It's alive!
  17. Haha yes it's all so clear and simple. You have to buy them IF you are not able to select them as a "reward" from the new website. Seems like you missed that part.
  18. Personally, I think search & rescue aircraft that could recover downed pilots would be huge. It would involve pilots that don't enjoy the combat element and would really add to the immersion.
  19. I think you can look at it like this... It has been stated officially that if you buy an aircraft such as the P-51 or FW190 it will work for both. So, if you purchase the DCS: FW190 for example, from ED or via the "rewards" selection you will be able to have and fly that aircraft before WWII is released. Now, if you do not pick the FW190 as a flyable and DCS:WWII 1944 is released AND you already own the FW190... Well I can't imagine they'd make you pay ED again for the same aircraft. That's just my take on it.
  20. Thanks for that constructive input. It IS, and began AS a discussion of what aircraft will be available and how they are distributed since there is confusion remaining. It does impact selections each person makes and I see nothing wrong with this thread. I'm sure the moderators would step in if it did go in the wrong direction. If you aren't curious about the details, just move along. No one has made any demands or acted impatient to any degree.
  21. I'm not sure what you mean by "shop" but... From within DCS:WWII 1944 I think you will be able to purchase the P-51, Spitfire, 190, 109 and 262 and I think the P-47 will be the free aircraft. Just my guess.
  22. Flyables Selection That is true... I do not know for sure. However, the idea of having different keys for WORLD & WWII covering pre-existing a/c sounds like a technical/administrative nightmare. Hard for me to imagine that they would go that route. Also: As far as I know ED owns and distributes the P-51D and FW190-D9 keys. RRG owns the rest of them which are to be released with DCS:WWII. We've been told all planes will work for both environments.
  23. Flyables Selection So you are suggesting that even though I have qualified for 2 copies of all flyable aircraft within DCS:WWII with my contribution I will not get additional licenses for the P-51D and FW190-D9 if I also purchase them through ED before DCS:WWII is released? Also, gifting aircraft is a great way to encourage future customers. EDIT: And, I've never read anything stating there will be different keys issued for DCS:WORLD & DCS:WWII
  24. Yes. You should get a second license when DCS:WWII is complete if you buy the 190 from ED before then AND you choose it in the flyables section.
  25. Pacific Theater? I feel it's ok to think big. If anything, it lets ED & RRG know they have many years of interest and work waiting for them if they want it. I remember Luthier mentioning the Pacific theater aircraft at one point, specifically the Hellcat. I for one would love to see the Pacific come to life eventually.
