I did notice that the drop tanks don't require the fuel booster, which is accurate. I never noticed that specific issue quoted though.

Another "outage" Not sure if it was a planned event. Connecting to Master.... EDIT: Back up and running.

I used the Leo Bodnar boards for mine. Highly reccomended. I'm running two BU0836X boards on my setup right now. Excellent product.

Fakum, what's up man! Refueling in the air these days? :D I've been searching for a drop-in Hall sensor solution also. I hacked in an Allegro hall sensor for my home-built Throttle for the P-51 but I'd rather to a clean swap of the Pots in my CH flight stick.

I'll try to clarify my logic on this once again... Weekly Skype development meetings would seem a bit out of place AFTER the proposed development period was over. (Release date was advertised as Sept 2014) Why would I be attending informational sessions concerning development progress of the sim when I could be using the finished product? AND once again... Communication is the issue. A single attempt to clarify the situation would remedy the dissatisfaction. OR maybe you're right. It was intentional. There will be one Skype development session on the day of release with live action champagne bottle opening. ...Now it seems to be worth every penny.

I don't find much need for flaps on takeoff unless you are carrying near max weight. Airspeed is much more important while pushing the engine during takeoff. From what I've seen, THE most important thing to master during take-off roll in the P-51D is the rudder movement. You really just need to get used to anticipating the movement of the nose and feeling out the amount of rudder correction needed. After enough practice it's second nature. (pretty much spot-on with notes from the actual pilots)

That's progress...however small. Keep digging. I'm very interested in what you find.

TZ, Welcome. I'm EST as well. There are a few servers running a variety of P-51D missions. Ours is mostly combat. Come by anytime! The TS info is in the mission brief.

The only "entitlement" I am feeling is to exactly what was displayed and agreed on as a "reward" of my pledge level. I hardly think this is asking too much. Hell, how about one email stating things are behind schedule? How about three words from someone at RRG... please be patient? Is there anyone here who backed with more than $200 feeling satisfied with the communication? I'd like to hear from them. $1000 has gotten me nothing but an email from Kickstarter saying they took my money. Well, and the wisdom to never fall for such a thing again. No matter what kind of Kum ba yah you want to sing... results matter.

I have to chime on this to offer some hope for the apprehensive pilots... There often is a legitimate reason to feel a bit nervous upon entering your typical console or popular mainstream PC game. There is a very good chance you will find rooms full of belligerent or abusive personalities. The good news: Flight sims with such an element of dedication, the learning curve and precision of DCS products tend to attract a more mature and stable crowd. Possibly the one downside to this is the intense nature of some of the groups and their passionate drive towards excellence. From what I have seen there are plenty of options to begin with a casual group and then if inclined, move on to a more serious environment if you want. I can really only speak about the P-51 pilots I've flown with for the past year on several different TS servers. During that entire time I have witnessed very little that could be considered fearsome or awkward in any way. A surprising majority of DCS pilots are incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. And if you do find a server that does not suit you, simply jump out and find another. It's like jumping in the ocean for the first time... it may be a little intimidating at first glance but you will be surprised how enjoyable it can be and I think most will agree that it adds a tremendous extra element to the experience.

mhe, I think there has been quite a bit of support from the community including the "help" you suggested. Much assistance has been offered. I haven't heard much criticism of delays or progress. It has been specifically focused on communication and expectations set and not delivered over and over. That along with efforts to build excitement within the community that just fade away into nothing. Of course, we love to see progress and the status of the overall project is most important but some of us are used to a professional customer facing presence...and that is yet to be seen here.

Rudder trim surface moves wrong way in GFX
Merlin-27 replied to BitMaster's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
A google search will give you hours of reading on the subject.... Try this: Trim Tabs - Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge -
I think you may have found a bug with this. I tried it a few different ways. It appears that the first drop tank you use will act as empty if you switch to another drop tank and then back to the first. The second drop tank used can be used again after switching to any other fuel tank. Also, as an FYI, the drop tanks are not affected by the booster pumps so its state will not matter with them. There are three booster pumps, one for each wing tank and the fuselage tank.

Rudder trim surface moves wrong way in GFX
Merlin-27 replied to BitMaster's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Trim Tabs: A trim tab is a small, adjustable hinged surface on the trailing edge of the aileron, rudder, or elevator control surfaces. Trim tabs are labor saving devices that enable the pilot to release manual pressure on the primary controls. Some airplanes have trim tabs on all three control surfaces that are adjustable from the cockpit; others have them only on the elevator and rudder; and some have them only on the elevator. Some trim tabs are the ground-adjustable type only. The tab is moved in the direction opposite that of the primary control surface, to relieve pressure on the control wheel or rudder control. For example, consider the situation in which we wish to adjust the elevator trim for level flight. Level flight is the attitude of the airplane that will maintain a constant altitude. Assume that back pressure is required on the control wheel to maintain level flight and that we wish to adjust the elevator trim tab to relieve this pressure. Since we are holding back pressure, the elevator will be in the up position. The trim tab must then be adjusted downward so that the airflow striking the tab will hold the elevators in the desired position. Conversely, if forward pressure is being held, the elevators will be in the down position, so the tab must be moved upward to relieve this pressure. In this example, we are talking about the tab itself and not the cockpit control. Rudder and aileron trim tabs operate on the same principle as the elevator trim tab to relieve pressure on the rudder pedals and sideward pressure on the control wheel, respectively. EDIT: Not sure about the behavior of the P-51D aileron trim tabs. I would naturally think the left and right trim tabs would have a different behavior as to the torque effect movement of the airframe but I do not know for sure how they should appear. -
Rudder trim surface moves wrong way in GFX
Merlin-27 replied to BitMaster's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I just checked. All seem to work properly on mine. The tab moves in the opposite direction of the desired movement of the control surface. -
Now that EDGE looks to be back on track and no longer shrouded in darkness I expect an RRG update at any moment. ...OK, maybe early NEXT week. EDIT: I must eat my words here. I am happy with update 30. Hopefully, we can just get a few things sorted out with rewards and enjoy an Alpha sometime in the near future?

The haze of distant objects looks much more realistic to me. I like.

What are you doing while we wait for the Fw 190?

...taking in the beautiful scenery. -
I bought this computer that might help but I'm still looking for the software...

This is all very interesting stuff! Thanks for all the hard work, guys. Every aircraft needs this kind of devotion.

I'm sorry, I should have clarified, The "mouse in my pocket" is a virtual squadron of very capable P-51D pilots who regularly out perform the DCS FW190-D9 AI, Maybe we were issued a higher octane gas than you :) To be perfectly clear, I never spoke of historical accuracy in this matter. Simply the fact that the perceived performance advantage (in the sim) is not as severe as some would like to think. I'd be happy to show you this "impossible feat" firsthand anytime you'd like to visit our combat server, but you have already expressed, quite clearly, your disdain for all things multiplayer. And as another aside, to stem any animosity, my statements were not intended to bash your methods but only to clarify that such things are, in fact, possible.
