  1. Gotchya homie. I have on the fires side. Even getting pfeds, scus, and afatds to all talk to each other and continually with no issues was a pain in the butt, there is a guy on here that may or may not want to share his story but it’s his story to tell so I’m not gonna shout him out
  2. No. Basically @Raptor9 explained it better. It’s electronic. But it disables the electronic governor. But they way it’s designed is to provide the most power the engine has anyways so if you’re trying to manually do it you might be able to get a little out of the top end but your margin is super narrow. You’re well in the tgt area where the engine could potentially die out on you mechanically and if you don’t check it the rotor and engine will runaway to a overspeed protection. It’s purpose is if the electronic governor failed low. Setting the engine at a low power setting. I’m going to give two examples. Your oge limited and your at max power input or the engine as designed hovering and keep pulling collective the rotor will droop. So you go to lock out yes you can get some out of it there. Second scenario your drooping because your trying to avoid a crash. You go to lock out. You get nothing. Also this is only if your tgt limited. If your limited cold section it doesn’t matter. Sorry for poor grammar. I highly encourage people to play with it. And I want to click it on while someone’s flying to see what they do. But it’s not a recovery technique trying to arrest a crash. The engines give you what they got anyways. Combining it with tq, you can easily over tq without going lockout.
  3. Damnit! Someone lied to me.
  4. Lol, That’s what peeps are going to think about their np section before it shuts down the first time they do lockout
  5. @Remco you have the flight controls. Prepare to go to light speed
  6. I enjoy these speculations on what lockout does and how it helps
  7. I mean you nailed it. It drives off of what your intent is. If you want more immersive or just gameplay. Fun is dependent on what you like to do. But to tell someone they need a joystick with an extension. And have to have pedals. Nah.
  8. Disagree, I played for years on the budget twcs 16000, and I’ve known competent people flying on cheaper setups. You just have to be comfortable with what you have. If you learned with twist grip for pedals then keep it if you’re comfortable. You don’t need to sink a sizable amount of money in to play. It’s about what you like for your sim/game setup. You can be good on cheap stuff. I was actually better on dcs with the cheaper stuff over the expensive setup I just bought
  9. I think this goes back to one of my options. If a tank is in the open. And you're within a reasonable range. I agree it should pop up and be like "Target locked - T55". However if the tank is in trees, partially blocked by smoke, a bldg IDK 1000 examples, and it can detect and recognize that there's a tank. But not enough of the vehicle is visible to clearly make an identification. Then it should go back to "Target locked Tank." That's realistic. Because with that information, you should be able to derive from your own situational awareness that there are no friendly tanks where you're looking. Or vice versa there might be and you're not going to let a missile fly until you build a little more situational awareness. Now how do you differ between two peeps say you're helping 1 dudes who have bmp-1s and the other dudes also, have bmp 1s. That's a pickle right there.
  10. There’s pros and cons right? Where a human could sit there and analyze the issue. But also under pressure a human can convince themselves something when it’s not and rush a shot. Plenty of unfortunate examples. I think there are a couple options for the ah. You can have a video page up on one of the mpds, when he locks he has the tads zoomed and you can verify which is similar to what happens in rl before telling him to shoot. give it rng with distance, so 1 k 100% 2k 95% etc and that 5% for you is where he could make a mistake. A lot of coding and easily broke in this one, idk. final is when he announces what he has, it actually says it. So rather than “tank” it’s a “t-55” up to a distance. There’s a point you can’t tell what it is. And maybe if it’s in trees he goes back to tank or whatever. Again getting into the weeds on coding idk what the best option is.
  11. One gripe. That's technically the TDU or TEDAC display unit. and the ones left and right are MPDs. But aside from lame naming conventions. Looks amazing. Very very nice work! Also. I usually wouldn't usually add this disclaimer but things aren't always taken as meant in text. I'm being a smart ass, I don't think anyone cares what you call it. Well mtad's guy probably does but no one else. I think your work is super impressive. Very nice job.
  12. i personally hope so lol
  13. depending on your profile without robby 2ish. If you're rock'n as fast as you can possibly go it'll be lower, if you're running towards max endurance longer. Maybe someone wants to do DCS realistic missions where you're flying for long distances / times.
  14. Real talk looks awesome tho, nice
  15. You gotta build two stations!!!
  16. Phhh not used much…. What do you know. im playin. Here’s the deal. Not talkin to @Remco here. This is two separate systems that the Apache was advertised to work seamlessly, unfortunately it turned out difficult for most peeps to successfully accomplish . It has been done! also he’s right @Remco. But it’d be on the voice / digital network, fire mission from observer > fse/fdc > gun line that’s super basic but principle is there. No black magic, that’s an ep back to everyone. we’re talking about nonsense procedures when in reality we are talking about hitting the / key and some function buttons versus something in the cockpit how you work with ai now this seems like a better option imo
  17. Are you talking for the Apache?
  18. Yes izlid is an ir pointer. Off-low-high-pulse.
  19. It is critical. Critical that we cut off their supply of YouTube.
  20. Only on startup of the apu. Haven't had em fog up during flight, the downwash keeps the canopy pretty clear even in rain. Haven't ran into a need to turn it on during flight yet. Not saying there's not a very specific instance that it would be needed, but everyone I've ever talked too and my personal experience it has not been needed. Side note, that's why i found this request in particular amusing. The misunderstanding of what actually occurs, but the demand of it being realistic. Realistic, most dudes have ever touched the defog once apu is on up until blades are turning to help clear the canopy. The assumption, that it's used in flight. Also, more prevalent during hot days, not cold days Also, it's super annoying to have on because it's noisy, sometimes if the heat sucks, I'll turn it on for a bit of extra heat, but it's so noisy.
  21. hell ya brother, 100% SUPPORT!!!! Just watched it, I love it!!!!
