Is there some kind of demo or try-out day for helicopters?
kgillers3 replied to JetCat's topic in DCS: AH-64D
I mean you nailed it. It drives off of what your intent is. If you want more immersive or just gameplay. Fun is dependent on what you like to do. But to tell someone they need a joystick with an extension. And have to have pedals. Nah. -

Disagree, I played for years on the budget twcs 16000, and I’ve known competent people flying on cheaper setups. You just have to be comfortable with what you have. If you learned with twist grip for pedals then keep it if you’re comfortable. You don’t need to sink a sizable amount of money in to play. It’s about what you like for your sim/game setup. You can be good on cheap stuff. I was actually better on dcs with the cheaper stuff over the expensive setup I just bought -
I think this goes back to one of my options. If a tank is in the open. And you're within a reasonable range. I agree it should pop up and be like "Target locked - T55". However if the tank is in trees, partially blocked by smoke, a bldg IDK 1000 examples, and it can detect and recognize that there's a tank. But not enough of the vehicle is visible to clearly make an identification. Then it should go back to "Target locked Tank." That's realistic. Because with that information, you should be able to derive from your own situational awareness that there are no friendly tanks where you're looking. Or vice versa there might be and you're not going to let a missile fly until you build a little more situational awareness. Now how do you differ between two peeps say you're helping 1 dudes who have bmp-1s and the other dudes also, have bmp 1s. That's a pickle right there.

There’s pros and cons right? Where a human could sit there and analyze the issue. But also under pressure a human can convince themselves something when it’s not and rush a shot. Plenty of unfortunate examples. I think there are a couple options for the ah. You can have a video page up on one of the mpds, when he locks he has the tads zoomed and you can verify which is similar to what happens in rl before telling him to shoot. give it rng with distance, so 1 k 100% 2k 95% etc and that 5% for you is where he could make a mistake. A lot of coding and easily broke in this one, idk. final is when he announces what he has, it actually says it. So rather than “tank” it’s a “t-55” up to a distance. There’s a point you can’t tell what it is. And maybe if it’s in trees he goes back to tank or whatever. Again getting into the weeds on coding idk what the best option is.

One gripe. That's technically the TDU or TEDAC display unit. and the ones left and right are MPDs. But aside from lame naming conventions. Looks amazing. Very very nice work! Also. I usually wouldn't usually add this disclaimer but things aren't always taken as meant in text. I'm being a smart ass, I don't think anyone cares what you call it. Well mtad's guy probably does but no one else. I think your work is super impressive. Very nice job.

i personally hope so lol

depending on your profile without robby 2ish. If you're rock'n as fast as you can possibly go it'll be lower, if you're running towards max endurance longer. Maybe someone wants to do DCS realistic missions where you're flying for long distances / times.

You gotta build two stations!!! -
Phhh not used much…. What do you know. im playin. Here’s the deal. Not talkin to @Remco here. This is two separate systems that the Apache was advertised to work seamlessly, unfortunately it turned out difficult for most peeps to successfully accomplish . It has been done! also he’s right @Remco. But it’d be on the voice / digital network, fire mission from observer > fse/fdc > gun line that’s super basic but principle is there. No black magic, that’s an ep back to everyone. we’re talking about nonsense procedures when in reality we are talking about hitting the / key and some function buttons versus something in the cockpit how you work with ai now this seems like a better option imo
-
Are you talking for the Apache?
-
Yes izlid is an ir pointer. Off-low-high-pulse.
-
It is critical. Critical that we cut off their supply of YouTube.
-
hell ya brother, 100% SUPPORT!!!! Just watched it, I love it!!!!
-
Should be fun
-
Lol you’ll figure it out.

while I'm not sure the manual needs to be posted, but yeah i'll continue to break all the limits in game but it makes sense probably worried about tail strike which was what I was wondering about. thanks learn something new every day!
-
You talking RL or in game? Not that it'd change what I do, just curious.
-
Just remember it's not like a car, right is still right, no alternating the wheel. First time back taxing I started to go the wrong way because I wanted the tail to go to the left. Nope. Nose still goes right.

The bat wings! Yeah different purpose. Tbh with your profile pic I thought you knew what they were for. Maybe you do and your playing coy. for the peeps not familiar. @Sinclair_76 is requesting for a training tool which puts curtains on all canopy’s for the back station so you can’t see out of it. The purpose of this is to force them to fly off of nvs while the cpg is full day and has the visibility to keep the helicopter safe while someone is new and learning. It’s not for imc or anything else. It’s also used so peeps can get system time in places like Alaska where during the summer it doesn’t get dark enough. the batwings aren’t designed to limit visibility out, they’re the little pull up accordion looking things that the velcro is always bad on. They have a different purpose that someone else can probably look forward to answering
