  1. From discussions AI Navigator and Radio Operator are planned, so probably not with the EA.
  2. The usual stuff such as spotting, two set of eye are better than one. But thanks to the layout of the cockpit the Navigator did do some engine management when asked, for example if the engine required feathering the pilot would ask the Navigator to flick the switch as he was right next to it, same goes for the engine fire extinguishers. Pretty much anything that was easier for them to reach than the Pilot, the image below should give you some insight.
  3. I really hope we get an AI for this, would be great to have a functioning Navigator.
  4. @Silver_Dragon Ohh, I wonder if that is the early steel rail or the late war mkIII aluminium light weight version. I assume the former, but I don't know the naming convention.
  5. 2000 rounds (500/gun) for the 4x303 machine guns and 600 rounds (150/cannon) for the 4x20mm
  6. Not at any height... I doubt they ever actually came into contact in reality to be honest
  7. Which is precisely the role in which the Night Fighter version was enrolled.
  8. @Robi-wan Given that some Axis players still try and turn with a Spitfire even when they know better I think that is a safe assumption, I fully expect to see many a Mosquito FB plummeting from an altitude that they have no logical reason to be at I also expect to be abused for "Vulching" an enemy airfield... But they are just going to have to get used to it
  9. The Merlin 25s slightly improved the max speed however it massively improved the climb performance. See the conclusion in the attached document. Mosquito-VI-tactical.pdf
  10. And I should learn to spot a joke! We both win
  11. Nothing will really suit the Mossie, it probably won't be anywhere close to the manoeuvrability of any of the current aircraft. In terms of boom and zoom I don't expect it to hold up either, the engine being only single stage means that performance drops off after a certain altitude so you really don't want to be found at altitude.
  12. At risk of bursting your bubble I wouldn't expect to find the Mossie being used as a fighter outside of highly situational occasions... forced to fight back or catching an aircraft unaware on take off etc... The Mossie is more of a fast strike bomber than a fighter.
  13. I assumed you were talking about the silver dope. In order to get a decent aerodynamic surface all the wooden surfaces were covered in a silver dope. After the war they stopped painting over this leaving the silver dope as the finish. This is from a refurbishment prior to painting. Post war scheme example... Happy....
  14. No such thing during war time, they were painted on the assembly line. After the war they were delivered with a silver finish.
  15. I mean 60 is a massive number of flying aircraft, sure the P-51 has over 170 but that is unique. No other wwii fighter comes close to these two so not even close to a "handful"... Ridiculous. Fortunately this number has been going up over the years and there seems to be plenty of Merlins around for new developments.
  16. New WIP pictures... https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/screenshots/1416/ Looks stunning, good work chaps
  17. Man I am so pumped for this!
  18. I don't think he is talking about the use of Mosquitos just the EW Missions that squadron undertook in general.
  19. I am well aware that it is not a fighter, it is just that I fascinated to see how it will perform... That said depending on the scenario it could be used effectively, there is evidence to suggest that it could perform reasonable well in a fight when required. If ED were to ever venture into night fighting then this would be a completely different matter however I doubt we ever see a WWII night fighter in DCS. Which is a bit of a shame as DCS would be a great platform for insight into early radar and counter radar.
  20. I am intrigued to see just how manoeuvrable it is and also just how much punishment it can take.
  21. Perhaps it will be AI for the bomber position?
  22. I think it was more about operational effectiveness, in theory the Mossie could carry Bombs and Rockets however operationally they made rocket and bomb squadrons separate so each could train to use the assigned weapon effectively so that might have been the case with the TSETSE?
  23. The TSETSE took out a few Ju88 with the Molins as well, I read an account where one of the Ju88 engine was completely shot off it's mount We need water bomb physics, for skip bombing and this when using the RP3.... "It was discovered that if the rockets were fired at a shallow angle, near misses resulted in the rockets curving upwards in seawater and piercing the targets below the waterline."
  24. Sorry I meant patrolling the seas around Normandy
  25. Good call Fenrir, only a short run of 18 Mk XVIII. Sounds like they might even have taken part in flight's over Normandy? I thought they were always stationed at Banff. Yes, the first was a modified VI the others purpose built apparently. IIRC the biggest change was strengthen up the area around the gun.
