You're right. The "modern" combat simulator isn't working for either party at the moment. If not nothing else, at least my wallet is happy about all these older/trainer A/C and helis.

I don't remember mentioning anything DCS helicopter capabilites in my post. :) But the fact is that there are more viable DCS helicopters than planes in DCS World at the moment. And I also stated that it will change in future months. PS: I don't wanna make this jet fans vs heli fans. It's not about that.

At this point many wouldn't mind if it's FC3 fidelity. ( although with the clickable cockpit it's arguably gonna be at least a few steps above it) Or any new FC level modern jet that would fit into current DCS World enviroment. Anything that would change the impression The last new plane to be released was P-51 in 2012, and that one doesn't really fit in much, at least not until DCS WW2 comes out. Flaming Cliffs 3 is just a repeat of previous Flaming Cliffs incarnations that allows it to function in DCS World enviroment and with additional graphical make-up. It needed to be done and it also allows more flexibility and accessibility. But apart from that, it's same planes, same avionics. Nothing ground breaking for those who have been playing since Lock On. DCS Hawk is looking very nice and looks on par with A-10C, but it's not a plane that you take into any serious form of combat and come back alive or do much of an impact on the battle. It's gonna be great for aerobatic teams or squads that will want to train rookies with an appropriate plane. But not for people who prefer combat. Mig-21bis is also looking great and will work better for people who want combat airplanes, although it might be a bit outdated compared to the threats it's gonna be facing but that problem might go away if more comparable planes and equipment are released in the future. ( fingers crossed that F-100D will follow soon) Other than these two, what else is new for jet fans in DCS? New flight models for two jets that have been around since 2003? F-18C is far, far away according to Wags and Super Bug developers aren't really keen on giving out information. ( can't really blame them) That's it. IRIS is pretty much gone, Kinney is gone, Mil-Sim gone, RAZBAM is being awfully quiet... So let's be honest, the near future is bleak for fans of Modern Air Combat and Rikus is right in way. Currently this is Helicopter World, but it will change for the better this year.

ED is working on F/A-18C, however it is unlikely that we will see it this year.
-
March will bring us the first supersonic DCS fighter. Not a fancy one, but a jet fighter nonetheless. And later this year we'll maybe get F-18E so the future is bright.

Best craft in DSC for complex detailed sim/features?
Linx replied to Gerg's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
There is (was?) a F-14A WIP by Iris. Not sure what's going on with it now. -
Just don't let it be Flaming Cliffs 4. :P Also, new FC planes this year, are better than DCS F-18 in 2015/16. :D

In my opinion, it's quite safe to count them out. Mil-Sim also didn't post any updates and look what happend to them. I really hope I'm wrong.

Quick and dirty Afghanistan style repint of DCS world.
Linx replied to Stratos's topic in DCS Modding
That's a very nice idea! -
DCS A-10C. Thanks for doing this. :) Happy holidays everyone.

If you're into high fidelity planes wait for Mig-21. It's going to be the first DCS level fighter. :) FC3 could be a good purchase if you don't own FC1 or FC2. Otherwise just skip it since you don't get any new planes.
-
Same here. JTAC won't respond at all.
-
It's shaping up nicely. Keep up the good work. :)

Well, with FC3 and stand alone A-10 and Su-25 we've already gone backwards. Why not take it a step further and make a FC multirole? And if I recall correctly, Wags stated in one of the weekly updates that there will be more FC level planes.

No, the problems appeared way before I started using VPN, about a year ago, to bypass the problem with hosting DCS, but LAN option has since been removed. I didn't know about ping plotter route, will try it now. Thanks for the suggestion.
-
Well, it was a last ditch effort to determine the problem. If it would work with firewall disabled, solution would be just a few minutes away.

A virus that specifically targets my ability to host DCS and leaves everything else intact? I don't think so.
-
It only changes the 3d for the plane, doesn't really do anything other than that. Why hasn't there been at least a FC level multirole since 2003? Or any other new FC plane that isn't a derivative of the ones present in original Lock on? The basic code seems to be there. You have radars and capability for BVR combat on FC fighters and ability to shoot ARM and precision guided munitions on FC attack planes. Why haven't/can't those things be wrapped up in a FC level multirole jet? If A-10C level planes really require that much time and money, why not make some new FC level planes as a way to acquire funds for more serious projects? Releasing FC3 with the same plane selection from 10 years ago is extremely disappointing. And now stand-alone modules of those same planes? I mean, great for those who only want a specific FC3 plane. But c'mon, at least bring something new to the table for the rest of us. And this is my biggest problem with DCS/FC series, there hasn't been anything new at all. Sure there have been 3d and FM improvements for FC planes, but that's not new content. And IMHO, ED will keep releasing same planes over and over again, because hardcore fans will buy anything from them to "support" the series and hopefully get a DCS plane one day for their effort and loyalty. But why would ED make new DCS level planes if people will buy the same ones 5 times, albeit in a new fancy wrapping? But anyways. DCS World is a great product which is still in it's infancy and will take few more years to mature. There are some very interesting 3rd party modules coming out soon which will give new life to this sim and will help us with the waiting. Also, DCS: F-18C is a fairy tale. :megalol:

What if I don't have a router and have disabled the firewall?
-
+1 What is wrong with hosting in this game?
-
Didn't work. How can I host this game normally then? I disabled firewall, uninstalled anti virus, allowed ports in windows firewall. Friends still get the "can't connect messege". :( I'm not behind a router so that's not a problem and I could always host every other game without a problem. The only way I got another DCS to connect was if the other computer was connected to the same modem. Is something blocking outside connections? Is there any way that I can host this game online?

Don't listen to NRG-Vampire. :P Your AC skins are great, loving the Scarface squadron skins.

Excellent. Don't want them to shift focus away from F-18. -

Is this something official? Or just a wishlist?
