SFJackBauer's Saitek X-52 Profile
BTTW-DratsaB replied to SFJackBauer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Does this still work as normal with BETA2? I just bought DCS:A10 yesterday and I'm trying to figure out what control map to use, I was going to make my own as that seems the best approach for learning but I am too overwhelmed by the amount of controls on the HOTAS and have no idea what is important and what is not. I made my own DCS:BS (copying the real KA50 stick and collective as close as possible which worked very well), but the A10 seems way more complicated :fear: . I am also disappointed that I cant use the Saitek profiler because of conflicts with multiple buttons modifiers. I have really enjoyed this way of working with flight sims up 'till now (always leaving in game assignments at default and then using the profiler). Anyway, I have decided I think I will try to use your Profile, SFJackBauer. However, as a mixed blessing the Beta2 is available now so I am unsure if this profile and .lua will still work, or will there be problems due to new keys/assignments in the new Beta? If I try to learn with a dodgy profile I predict it will really confuse and frustrate me when things go wrong. Seems I may have picked the wrong time to join in, My brain spins :) --------------- One slightly related question is that some of the controls on the stick do different things If they are held for a short or long period. Are there separate key inputs for each short and long press, or does it just perform the second function with a longer press of the same key combo? I'm guessing the latter. -
I wonder if it would be possible to make the Beta forum visible to all but locked for everyone except Beta participants? Or would that be too awkward to set up? Just a thought.

This is really great. First I balked at the 60 price tag, but relaxed after I realised it was $ and not Euro, which will be 43 :). I think I may hold off for a bit, I hope we can opt to join in the Beta at a later date, or will there be a cut off point? One other question, how big is it? Setup files and installed? Thanks Ed!

Wow they look really nice. Ka50, Su25 and P4 particularly. Great work thanks for sharing.

A-10C Training Video Available - Start Up
BTTW-DratsaB replied to Wags's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Kind of odd to refer to it as boring in my opinion, it's a training video, what more could you want? You're either entertained by the fact your learning about something you have enthusiasm for or your bored because it's a training video for something you have no interest in. My only criticism would be that some of the gauges that are referenced by the narrator are not highlighted (eg for BS Matt would circle his mouse pointer around gauges he was describing or was focused on). But a quick glance at the manual would clear that up. For entertainment we have GA and his splendid works. -

Thank you very much!:cheer3nc: -
droool...thanks for the pics!

It's a "jack of all trades" soldier simulator and once you take it at this level ( with the inevitable limitations such a game will have), it is a blast and a very unique and enjoyable game. The fact it has some dedicated developers makes the ride all the more enjoyable. I would recommend it to anyone. The tanks are to Steel Beasts as the the flying is to DCS, if that makes sense.

Great pics, I love the insignia on the back of the Su25 http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/static.panoramio.com/photos/original/15583992.jpg Is that an M60 that the frog is hammering? :) --- I notice in this pic http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/static.panoramio.com/photos/original/15584575.jpg that the tire without the rim appears to be solid rubber, is it usual for aircraft tires to be like this?

So that means that non of the Pod pics are in FLIR mode? I was wondering about that because it does just look like b/w tv and not heat imaging. Will FLIR be fully modelled, for example like the new FLIR optics in Arma2 Operation Arrowhead? With realistic heating and cooling of objects?

Sweet! gonna have a good read though this now! Ahh I love surprises  -------------------- Wow! loads of great info and new screen shots. The training system sounds brilliant, cant wait to get my hands on this! Thanks again Ed!

Damn, its an mmo... which I guess means it will be subscription based. Maybe I'm just too stuck in the old ways, but I like to just pay once and (shock horror!) not play with other people all the time. Since Freelancer (which I enjoyed, but there was lots of "wouldn't it be cool if..?") I keep waiting for a game to come out that will be like Frontier, on steroids. But it seems any game like that now that is released is just going to be MMO. I guess given the type of game that these are and the things that we would ultimately like to see in them ( ability to walk around planets/ships/space stations, no scripted "cut scened" entry/re-entry/ manual docking) perhaps subscription mmo is the only feasible business model to use due to the massive work load of creating such features in a cosmically sized game. I would really hope there is an option to play offline/ opt out to of the MMO thing and just play on my own or perhaps with a mate on COOP on LAN. I doubt there will be though :( ----------oooohhhh hang on/edit----------- http://www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=75&topic=530.0 Sweeet :D

Do you think this will be like Frontier Elite 2?

Great screens thanks! Looks like there is some SSAO post processing going on there, the softness looks nice.

Wow sobering stuff

Thanks, I love these photos. Nice annotations too!

Nice screens, thanks. I have been waiting for all my favourite games to start using my DX10 hardware. But now we are skipping it..Doh! Any chance there will be some form of enhancements for DX10 over Dx9? For example Company of heroes in DX10 mode looks a lot better than DX9, as did Crysis. I too have a gtx295 and wont be upgrading for a while. I also am guessing ED will make major effort to ensure SLI (MultiGPU) is made good use of if they are cranking up the GFX engine this much? Anyway, thanks for the screens again, the A10 is looking fantastic.

Great FLIR vid thanks

Profile problems now .exe has been renamed I am using nvidia 257.21 and they still haven't updated the DCS Black Shark profile to point to Simulator.exe. I have tried to manually set a new profile that points to Simulator.exe but some thing weird has happened and the profile has disappeared and when I try to re add it again, it has a blank name and is not actually created. Odd I know, it probably will mean driver reinstall.... :music_whistling: Aside from needing to set AA and AF manually, I also use a SLI gfx card setup. After waiting for years (literally) for nvidia to fix the Flickering clouds problem, which they finally did, it is now broken again due to the change of .exe name. Could some one at ED let nvidia know that they have changed their .exe name for DCS:Blackshark and ask them to update their driver profiles accordingly? I'm sure there are channels for that sort of thing? Thanks  PS I dont want to use nHancer, Im not even sure that it could fix the flickering clouds as nvidia could (you could "fix" it, but you'd be disabling part of what would make it run faster).

What happened to Liveleak's A-G footage?
BTTW-DratsaB replied to Alexrey's topic in Military and Aviation
If you can make yourself not read their video comments, ApacheClips can be good for that kind of thing. Although be warned, there is gore a plenty if your not careful about what your looking for.
