[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
Chief1942 replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
f4l0 , Went to Scripts and located the Export.lua. Labeled it Export.old and moved it to my desktop. When starting SSA in both DCS and DCS Beta I still get no feedback from the JetSeat. I went back to the file you spoke of (Scripts) and it appears that the Export.lua was not recreated there. I'm pretty lost as to what is causing my problems with SSA not functioning within both DCS and DCS Beta. Is there an old install of SSA that will place me back to the old system that gave me all the nice JetSeat feedbacks? Have had this for so long I really am missing it now that it isn't working. Thank you so much for your help and the continue efforts you are providing to us as DCS continues to grow. -

Mr. f4IO, Suddenly I have lost my SSA to the aircraft. I have the Jetseat and whenever I activate SSA and select the service tab to make sure I get the feeling through the seat, it works fine. But, now when I go into DCS and one of my A/C, I get no vibes from any of the modules. I have uninstalled the SSA version 1.2.0.0 and did the reinstall and still it does not work within DCS. I still get the "massage" from JetSeat massage or test page, and of course the correct activity if I select the service tab on SSA. Any suggestions on what I should do to regain the function of SSA within DCS? I've had this for so long, I really notice it if it is not working for me. Thanks for any advice. -
Pictures abound. Appreciate the pictures you let us look at. Here are a couple from my own scrapbook of the many years I spent working on the A-4's even as they changed their designation and capabilities over the years. The one is our A4-2N's flying over MCAS El Toro in 1962. The other is us at NAS Fallon Nevada for ordinance delivery/practice. I'm in the 2nd row fifth from the right. Man, how many years ago that was. Looking forward to the release of this A-4E module as it will reflect my last squadron before my discharge , with VMA-311.

So is it worth upgrading PC yet?
Chief1942 replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If DCS is your flight sim of choice and you are able to get satisfactory results via your current system, then stay with it for awhile longer. There are many on this forum who are playing the "cutting edge" game regardless of costs and the cost of noticeable performance improvement. I tend to your position and simply cannot justify the costs associated with just squeezing out a couple of more FPS or settings all at the "Highest" settings. I am currently happy with the enjoyment I get from ALL that ED provides with the ever constant improvement and advances in these modules and maps. Are there some issues we have to deal with whenever some new update is released? Yes, especially in the "BETA" release. So many have expectations that the "BETA" has as few bugs as the Final Release. Duh! That's why it is a "BETA". Unless we are looking to lay out the costs and tuning to get the ultimate performance on this ever polishing and updating, then we have to be patient until the improvement in our current system hardware and it's costs actually brings a giant leap in performance. My experience over the last few decades is that improvements are only incremental at best and seldom warrant the cost and investment in staying at the cutting edge. That's just my view and I will adhere to patience until such time as the amount of hardware improvements warrant the associated costs. One need only observe the experience that VR users are having. It's a very interesting approach but far, far from the even coming close to the real "cutting edge" of that hardware and software itself is still in development. Not really a major player at the moment. Time and improvement may change VR if it can ever attract enough customers to cover the costs of that development. My 2 cents. Your mileage may vary. -
Interesting issue. I have been flying a ground attack mission in Normandy where both air and land assets are tasked with destroying Third Reich ground units. It appears that when either air or ground units destroy them, and the destroyed unit changes from functional to destroyed, I get some short but noticeable "stutters". I can't recall if I had ever noticed those stutters before. Perhaps you guys are on to something. I am NOT computer literate enough to source out some of the causes of the stutter issues. Good luck in your pursuit.

Disappointing performance drop, 2.5 & 2.5.1
Chief1942 replied to Sn8ke's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I have a rather old system compared to those that are at the 'cutting edge" today, yet I am not having the issues with performance that these newer systems appear to be experiencing. In all honesty , with my current system I am enjoying both the 2.5.1 in all three theaters. Even in Normandy, even though the FPS are not as high as the FPS that most people seek or demand, my flights are smooth with very rare stutters". I fly single player exclusively. Would like to know what percentage of DCSW users are having such issues as the OP has . Almost seems to be more system related than DCS code. Yes, we are all focusing on the Beta, but then one should expect "bugs" in a Beta and help ED find those "bugs". But, does it seem reasonable that ANY release will work equally well on ALL systems? I think not. -
Win10 1803-Build 17134.1 ( newest Build )
Chief1942 replied to BitMaster's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Got the new update and it porked my ASUS Suite 3. Had to do a search to find a newer iteration that once installed, have that app back and working okay. To be honest, I really can not notice ANY improvement in the new update. -
As an old geezer who spent the most of 4 years working on A-4's in the USMC in the early 1960's, I'm certain you appreciate the anticipation that I am experiencing for the release of your hard work. Thanks immensely.
-
I fly mostly the P-51D exclusively in SP mode. I have not had the issue you describe so might recommend that you do a repair or delete your saved games folder and try it all again. Good luck. It's hard to diagnose an issue when very few have it.

Rarely utilize my FC3 module but your free gift made me revisit that module. I must say the J-11A is stunning in both appearance and functionality. Certainly for those who are nitpickers, you still have some work ahead on this offering, but I will honestly say WELL DONE!!

Thanks for the feedback. I first always think it must be something I am doing incorrectly, but I will be patient while the whole ATC issues continue to be addressed.
-
In the latest change log: "If an airbase has multiple runways in parallel the ATC will indicate which runway the player should take." Nellis AFB is an airbase and has two parallel runways. I have yet been able to get ATC to assign either 21 Left or 21 Right. Anyone else been successful getting the correct runway assignment from ATC?

TrackIR not as smooth in 2.5 as 2.2 and 1.5.8
Chief1942 replied to Jacks's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Goa, I understand your frustration and that of others who are experiencing similar issues. Once again, as complex as DCSW is, I suspect there are frequently going to be hiccups whenever ED issues a new update or iteration. This is STILL a "Beta" release and your problem is indicative of why. With so many differing hardware configurations out there, that is probably always going to happen. You have posted in the right forum for the "bug" you are having and I think as ED prioritizes all the "bugs" that came with 2.5, they will find time to address yours. I only responded to your thread thinking that perhaps you were having a hardware issue. I know I have had with my TrackIR on occasion. Outside light sources are a constant issue. -

" ED please fix trackir! " Since not everyone who uses TrackIR is having the problems you are, then I think it more falls to NaturalPoint to fix your problem. Since your view pans smoothly without using TrackIR, why would you not suspect the TrackIR hardware when the view is "choppy" during it's use? -
Such sorrow. Was looking forward to seeing the completion of his work that he was so dedicated to, but this news really has taken the wind out of my sails. May his family and friends find peace and solace at this terrible time . A true loss for so many. RIP Gos.

Is perhaps the "more memory" issue being caused by the memory leak that ED is frantically trying to resolve? Just asking.
-
I suppose there are many in the DCS World who are struggling with your same issue. My specs are in my sig, and as anyone can see, I am long overdue for an upgrade to keep pace with the improvements in DCS. But like you cost is a major factor for someone on a fixed income (retired). Not to mention the lack of availability even if you swallowed hard and accepted the inflated prices. I, like I suspect most in this situation are, are simply waiting to see how the hardware manufacturers are going to respond to this issue. One of the things that is keeping them at their current state is, in my opinion, "miners" buy several cards at a purchase where most sim players buy only one or two. If you were in one of those businesses that could not keep up with the demand, what would you do? It is interesting that we simmers are at the mercy of some people who are currently driving that demand via mining cryptocurrency when it was not that long ago WE were the ones the manufacturers were focused on. Like you and I suspect many others, this is going to really test our patience.
-
I noticed it when I first flew the Nevada map after installing 2.5. I figured it was some a setting on my graphics card or PC that was causing it as I had never seen that effect before. Does look strange but I have confidence in the ED team that they will address it or at least provide usd with a setting that minimizes this issue.

The two side glasses on the forward part of the windscreen are tinted yellow. That is not the case with the front part.

Jumping in here with congrats to ED. Wags, you owe those folks a steak dinner at the least. I was really surprised at the smoothness of the transition to 2.5Beta. Yes, the download took me almost 10 hours but then as I live in a very rural part of the USA, I don't have the best internet service that the city folks do. And what with much of the flight sim world on the servers as suspected, I was fully prepared for a slow download. But no hiccups at all. A few adjustments due to some of my personal favorite "mods" but all in all, but I am one happy camper at the moment. Now, if the price on some of the critical PC components will only come down in price, perhaps I can build a system worthy of your efforts and time well spent. Congrats!!!

Intel vulnerability fix = huge performance drop ?
Chief1942 replied to Flow's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Where are we? It benefits us ,due to your line of work, that you stay on top on this issue and share with us. I have the Windows update fix but since I have such a dated CPU (Devils canyon) will either Intel or ASUS (my mother board) even put out a fix for such dated equipment.? Just asking your opinion. I have been considering a new system for some time, but the $$$ are just not available at the moment, plus the costs associated with the latest GPU going off the chart, I am suspecting I will be stuck with my current system for awhile yet. It does fairly well with everything DCS has thrown at it, but of course the unknown is what happens when I start with the newer 2.5 iteration. Appreciate all you bring to this forum. -
MODS by CUBANACE SIMULATIONS
Chief1942 replied to cubanace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Very warranted response. I would suspect that those who are the major complainers about your efforts AND struggles wouldn't have a clue as to where to start on the things you are attempting.:book: You hang in there! I remember how many were surprised at the progress a "total newby" made as the PakFa progressed. :joystick:Too many are either believing they are "entitled" or simply looking a gift horse in the face. Either way, it reflects more poorly on them than it does on you. Better to have tried and failed than to never to have tried at all. -
Ah! The memories I remember back in the 1962-63 era at MCAS El Toro when VMA-223 was one of three A-4 Skyhawk squadrons stationed there. I was in VMA-121 Green Knights, and to our east was VMA-211 Wake Island Avengers. VMA-223 Bull Dogs was immediately to our West. So many years have passed since those halcyon days prior to Viet Nam. Semper Fi!
