TrackIR - Stuttering under 120fps
Chief1942 replied to hughlb's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have not noticed such an issue, but then I rarely get FPS at or above 100. Please keep the community informed as you search out the issue and solution. Do not discount the possibility that you are the possessor of a faulty TrackIR device. Do you have another available perhaps to try a comparison? -
Thanks for sharing. Served in VMA-343 (FJ-4) before moving on to VMA-121 (A4D-2N)and eventually VMA-311 (A4E). That was 1960 to 1965. The Marine Corps is such a small organization compaired to the other services that there is a better than average chance your dad and I may have crossed paths. Looking forward to this module as it brings back so many memories.

Moving to Windows 10 - any tips or pitfalls?
Chief1942 replied to Frusheen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Likewise. Been pretty much smoothe as silk, as long as I do not let them install the Anniversary Update. I have gone through that exercise in futility over threee times trying to get it to function properly on my PC like those who are NOT having issues with it, but alas, no joy. I know MS is working on correcting whatever specifics are causing so many problems for so many people, so will simply be patient while they work it out. -
Semper Fi! I pretty much "meched" A-4s my entire 4 years in the Marine Corps. What unit(s) was your Dad attached to? I also am so looking forward to this module. So many memories.

Cats?? Siamese?? Thought I might like cats as much as dogs at one point. Then, at about 11 or 12, was at a friends house and they has two Siamese cats, BoBo and Goober. Both were laying next to the hearth and I went over to pet them:thumbup:. As I approached, they both rolled over on their backs which I interpreted as they wanted their stomachs rubbed:doh:. BAD mistake. When I reached down within claw range, i pulled back a pretty shredded forearm:cry:. Have not trusted many other cats to this day, even though I did take in a stray once:). I think I'm inclined to dogs.:smilewink:

Patience! Trains and planes aside, anyone who has been a fan of DCSW for any period of time, has to have learned a bit of patience by now,..................Right:music_whistling:? Get 'er done! (correctly) ED.

Moving to Windows 10 - any tips or pitfalls?
Chief1942 replied to Frusheen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You can stop the automatic Windows Updates if you place your PC on "metered" WiFi. A quick Google search will provide the steps. I applied that approach due to the constant attempt by Microsoft to update me to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition, which I have installed several times and had nothing but problems. So I rolled it back to the previous OS install and the "metered" approach stops that update from automatically installing. -
Have been using the TrackIR for a long time. I just upgraded to the LukeClip in place of my old tried and true hat clip that came with my TrackIR 4. The greater precision of the LukeClip is noticeable and although I have never tried the TrackIR Pro Clip due to all the bad reports as to that product's fragility, in function and precision they are most probably close in their abilities. So I would, like the others, recommend TrackIR 5. Like my JetSeat, I can't imagine flying DCS without them.

TrackIR Pro clip alternative
Chief1942 replied to odin13's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Okay, recieved my LukeClip today. It is quite well done and I think well worth the price. Been using TrackIR hat clip since I first started using head tracking. I saw all the bad experiences with the TrackIR TrackClipPro so stayed with the hat clip until now. I must say the newer precision is going to take some time to adjust to. All in all, this product (LukeClip) is everything he is advertising it to be. I am one happy customer. And yes, it is great that there are others out there as well that are all pretty much along the same line, so take your pick. Thanks Luke! -
Micro Stutters after Windows 10 Update
Chief1942 replied to Ramires's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I agree. I had the same experience with the Anniversary Update. I was able to revert back and set up my system so that that particular update DOES NOT get installed via auto updates. Anyone can read the blogs as regards the numerous problems people are having with that update. Even Microsoft has recommended a rollback until they can squash the many bugs contained therein. My specs are in my sig. -
Not sure how to provide the configs you request and I haven't a clue as to TeamViewer. Sorry.

TrackIR Pro clip alternative

Ordered. Thank you. -
Not that I am awre of. However, I have most of my applications running with Administrator Rights. Should I change that with SimShaker?
-
Andey, Not sure what's up with my install but again I cannot get your newest revisions (neither of the last 2) to work and have to revert back to 1.1.1.42. That's okay as it works fine, just wanted to give you a heads up that there are some issues out here. When I try the updated versions it keeps telling me it can't run because perhaps another SimShaker is already running, which it is not.

[REPORTED]Crash to desktop after today update
Chief1942 replied to Yuya6104's topic in General Problems
Just tried the Mig-21 in the Final Release with today's update, CTD upon opening in the cockpit. Tried the Mig-21 in the Open Beta with today's update and it worked fine. Did the Quick Start Takeoff .miz, flew a circuit and actually landed without crashing for a change. Not sure why the Beta works but the Final Release doesn't. I'll leave that to folks with far more knowledge about these types of issues than I have. I don't know if the sequence with which one applies the updates has anything to do with it, but I updated my Final Release first this morning and then did the Beta update. Just thought I'd throw that in for whatever help it might be. I know sometimes when I update the Final Release it often copies files from the Beta or the Alpha. I can't say I noticed it doing that with today's update but I may simply have missed it. Tried to attach my Log file, No Joy! -
Thanks a bunch for the replys. Been using JSGME for some time now and I always deactivate my mods before I let the sim update. These are probably carryovers from before. They are history now!
-
I use a 4K monitor and have taken to keeping a magnifying glass within easy reach. Using Text Enlarger in the actual sim really does help a lot. But whenever I am compelled to use the Mission Editor, I have to make use of the magnifying glass. Old Marine here. Adapt and overcome!! Would like to see it scaled, but then I really do appreciate all that ED does for us so am low to be too critical of them.

Not sure which forum to ask this in so if I chose the wrong one, mods please redirect. I have an ever increasing number of the _backup.** files in each of my installs. Am up to 21 in my Final Release install, 17 in my 2.0 Alpha install, and 26 in my Open Beta install. I was wondering if they are ALL required to be kept in the install or can the older ones be deleted. Simply trying to reduce the amount of unnecessary data on my SSD's and like to keep things tidy. Thanks to anyone who knows.

That terrain is very familiar as I live in that region and see the A-10's fly over often when I'm chasing those rascally deer.
-
Bo_Nidle, What's holding up your updated skins in the User Files? Been checking every day and no sign of the updates as yet.
-
Was it in the update? Noticed I still have the "bug". Was it supposed to have been corrected in the 1.1.1.42 update. Thanks
-
Hope to help. As I understand the rules, I have paid for the Mig-15 and do not fly it. Pretty much purchased it to support ED. If I understand correctly, I can transfer that license to you if I remove that module from my computer, which I am willing to do if that will help you out with the campaign you purchased. Let me know and I will proceed to take the necessary steps to do the transfer.

Nvidia 372.54 serious performance drop?
Chief1942 replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just went with the new drivers and no problems so far. FPS over Vegas is 45-53. My FPS is locked to my monitor refresh rate of 60 FPS. I seldom drop below 60FPS. -
Overpowered AI? :)
Chief1942 replied to Doum76's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
There have been many threads regarding damage models and AI exceptionality. I feel certain ED has heard about it plenty and when that issue reaches the top of their priority list, they will address it. Until then, just know that when you are up against ANY AI aircraft, you have to be perfect because THEY are perfect.
