  1. There's a temp solution I too have a 4K and couldn't read the text either. Thanks to Bmanx2000 and his mod for Chat Enhancer and Text Enlarger, I install that mod via JSCME and it works great. You can find it in the Mods and Apps section of the forum. Would be nice if ED eventually gave us scaling of text, but with this workaround, I can get by until they fix it. Many thanks to BManx2000 for his contribution.
  2. Starting to look as if ED's efforts towards implementing VR is creating major issues with TrackIR. Since I am not a code programmer, I haven't a clue how this would occur, but it seems pretty obvious most TrackIR users were having little to no issues until the insertion of the VR capabilities in DCSW. Another time to be patient and let ED sort through the issues which I trust they are more than capable of fixing.
  3. I had issues with my TrackIR in the P-51 with todays update to the Final Release. When I checked my Track IR settings they had revertted to "Default" profile as opposed to my normal A-10C profile. I also noted in the GUI under "Controls" that TRackIR "Yaw" was missing. I reset to my regular profile in TrackIR and added the missing commands in the GUI "Controls" section and now all appears to be working . One point I noticed with TrackIR settings after the change in the views "over the shoulder". I moved my slider in "Axis Tune" to negative (-) settings in both Yaw and Pitch and now I have it is giving me better, less limiting six-O'clock views. Might try that.
  4. Thanks ED. It just keeps getting better and better. Even with the "bug" issues still to be resolved, we are grateful for your efforts towards making this the "flightsim of all flight sims".
  5. I can. When I hit the TrackIR "pause", then I can use the arrow keys on my keyboard to look around the cockpit. I've found that I cannot keep my head steady enough with the TrackIR to be able to operate some of the switches and knobs, so I simply hit "TrackIR Pause" and use those arrow keys to take me where I want to go and the view stays steady until I move it again with the keys. Once I've got done what I want, I then go back to TrackIR active by cancelling the "pause" button.
  6. They keep coming!!! Darn Skate, do you ever sleep?:smilewink: Thanks for these skins, especially from us old Marine Corps folks that actually worked on these Furies. Yes I know very well the differences between the real Furies and the USAF model you have to work with, but if I squint real hard, it looks great!
  7. Andre, Just thought I would run this by you and see if there is something I am doing that causes it. Flying the P-51D and on parking the plane and shutting it down, when I pull the lever in the cockpit that releases the hydraulic pressure and allows the landing gear doors to drop, after they are fully down I am getting feedback in my JetSeat that continues until I click out of the module. There is no feedback as the doors are lowering , only when the are fully down and I get this noticeable vibration. Any ideas what it is connected to? Thanks.
  8. Skate, You da man! I am amazed at how you put yourself out there for us "Skinning for Dummies" readers who STILL can't figure out all the in's and out's of what you artists do. A big tip of the hat to you for all your contributions . And if Crazie Eddie and Bo_Niddle and others are seeing this, thanks for their works as well. You skin artists might not know just how much your efforts are appreciated by the community. Thanks to all!
  9. "In this field, the day we buy it, it's out of date." That's been pretty much true since I began with an Atari computer decades ago, and it's still applicable today as you noted. But what has changed significantly, is the costs that come with all this new technology. Not everyone can afford to stay on the bleeding edge of tech no matter how much we would like to. If you can, then good for you. Pretty obvious from everything I've read regarding VR currently, it is still in it's infancy and the changes will probably comes fast and furious as they do with CPU's, Graphics cards, MB's, etc. It is a circumstance driven by competition and we the consumer benefit from that competition as long as it's within our budgetary limitations. I can currently enjoy DCSW quite well on my 4K monitor, so see no value in making the leap just yet.
  10. I'm a big fan of the F-86 and one of my favorite missions is the "Ground Attack" mission in the Quickstart section. Lately, I have noticed that my wingman very seldom survives the mission. He's never been particularly good with his aim and destroying targets, but at least he always made it home with me. Now, it seems he's still a terrible shot but he also can't seem to survive past a couple of passes on target. Thought I'd put this out there to see if anyone else has noticed this slight change. Not a deal breaker, but I am curious as there definitely is something amiss. And I have not changed ANYTHING within the original .miz file except for the liveries. Anyone?
  11. Not my point! My point is to exercise patience. You've been around long enough to understand the whole "In two weeks" thing. Getting all upset is NOT going to accelerate ED in their efforts to get us all the goodies they are capable of. It's their call now just as it has always been. My guess would be that those that are satisfied with ED's timetable and output outnumber the complainers by a vast margin. You could prove me wrong on that point, if so, have at it. Just advising patience, that's all.
  12. I know, I know! I have purposely stayed away from trying them at this point as what with limited funds, I don't want to purchase ANY technology only to have it be "yesterday's technology" in a couple of months.:( And with reading all the power demands to run VR even with today's iteration, there is always going to be another, more powerful gadget to get us to ValHalla. Not sure I can stand the $$$ costs of pursuing this new technology.
  13. Patience! I think ED spoiled a lot of folks with their frequent updates on Fridays.:D How long did we all wait for NTTR? "Two weeks"? :music_whistling:This community has patience, even though some will always complain, but where are you going to go?:( Flight Sim X? BMS? Didn't think so. I keep seeing the same screen names here on a regular basis, so in spite of the delays for everyone's favorite "fix",:( no one seems to be jumping ship in any great numbers.;) We are all drinking at the few remaining waterholes in the flight sim genre.
  14. Thanks for the response Skate. I will take that as a affirmative as regards needing to purchase any newer iteration of that technology as opposed to being able to upgrade the current. Think I'll wait.
  15. If those of you that have the Rift CV1 and have it working to your satisfaction, I would like to know if the CV1 is "upgradable" when the improvements do start to come out? Let's say Oculus comes out with the CV2, then will the current CV1's be able to utilize the improvements or would one be required to purchase another whole Rift to get the improvements? Not ready to make the investment YET, but am seriously looking at the technology. Tend to shy away from first release products and wait for some refinement. Appreciate any feedback.
  16. Andre,a problem Seems I chafed a wire and started having issues with the Jet Seat, of course. I repaired the chafed wires and everything seems top be working from a mechanical standpoint, just cannot get the application to run. Have tried to reinstall but alas no luck. I've attaced the message I get when trying to start the JetSeat. Hope you can help. thanks. Andre, I got it working. Sorry for the bother. Thanks.
  17. Old? Who you calling "old". :P Yes, at 73 not much happens quickly and many of our physical attributes are pretty worn. But what Eagle Dynamics via DCSW has given many of us provides that "escapism" that most simmers are seeking. You know, the suspension of belief we seek when we THINK we are actually flying and fighting military aircraft. Must say, that sitting in front of a computer monitor, cranking and banking with my flight control's,:joystick:, Jet Seat vibrating away is as close as this old guy will ever come to actually doing it.:pilotfly: Flight simming is one of those rare pastimes that any age can participate in and get some great satisfaction from. I look forward to every bit and morsel ED sends our way and am more than happy to wait for their upgrades as I use/enjoy what they have already provided. I may be missing something, but who else is even pursuing this flight sim genre to the degree ED is? Heck, my wife appreciates the time I spend with DCSW as she realizes as I do, that it challenges my gray matter and keeps my brain functioning at a better level than it might otherwise.:smartass: I know this has really gotten off topic in this thread, so if the Mods want to delete this post, have at it. Now, what's the start procedure for that Mustang again?:helpsmilie:
  18. Tight. Was inside that rear compartment on an AD in "A" School as a structural mech. That's how we were able to inspect the condition of some of the control cables. Can't imagine squeezing two into that space, and the limited views would really make it claustrophobic.
  19. Yes!! I know target spotting with different textures has been an active topic discussion, but I can't see squat with either the TGP or the Maverik camera in the A-10C.
  20. Please!! Okay, this is getting serious. If you guys keep putting out these a/c for DCSW. I won't have a life at all! :music_whistling:It seems I spend waaaay too much time at the PC already and now an AD and an A-4E.:pilotfly: I'll have to check and see if the wife still lives here with me.:( Haven't been giving her as much attention as I give DCSW and that is NOT a good thing for harmony under the roof.:smilewink: Priorities, priorities. Must keep things in priority!:D
  21. You guys are doing great! That flightline pic brings back memories. VMA-211 Wake Island Avengers , tail code CF, VMA-311 Tomcats, tail code WL (the last squadron I was in before discharge), and then there was VMA-121 Green Knights, tail code VK, and on and on. I'm sure you have all the documentation as there are plenty of A-4 sites still up and running on the Internet. Sure am looking forward to the completion of your work.
  22. Okay, I'm in but I get the feeling I have now signed up for Paypal. Nowhere did I see the option of signing in as a guest. Not an issue, once Starway meets his goal, I'll simply cancel my PP account once again.
  23. Really want to support Starway, but will not use Paypal. Can't there be some other way to provide this $$ support?
  24. Thanks Skate! So many of us are flying custom skins made by all the talent out there, yourself among them. With your efforts, perhaps we can again use those skins. It is frustrating whenever ED gives us a better product but in the process, undoes the efforts of so may. Not complaining, just wish there was a better solution than you artists having to rework your skins after some of the updates. Again, thanks for all you guys do. I wouldn't even know where to start in making a custom skin. With so many contributing, DCSW just keeps getting better and better. Nothing else even comes close.
  25. It's loud!! While going through "A" school at NAS Millington (Memphis, Tenn.) in 1960, I got to sit in the cockpit of an AD and actually start that rascal up. Instructor stood on the wing next to the cockpit and talked me through the procedure.:joystick: We were training ground crew (plane captains) to be able to taxi these birds while trying not to get fixated on the prop and actually taxi the plane into themselves. Can you say "Sliced Salami?" I thought you could.:helpsmilie: Anyway, the power and sound of that engine truly has to be experienced to get the full appreciation of its awesomeness.:pilotfly: Really looking forward to once again sitting in the cockpit of that plane. Good luck with the development.
