  2. I agree that all military aircraft devs should drop FSX as a platform and switch to DCS but sadly it doesn't seem to be happening fast enough, if at all. I guess FSX is probably easier to program for and still brings in the money... Hopefully when one developer makes an absolute killing in DCS with a high fidelity fighter, others will see that there is a huge market here and jump ship too. I swear, the first team to get a modern (post 1970) fighter out with AFM and fully clickable, realistic, accurate cockpit is going to make an absolute fortune.
  3. It's a shame this is taking so long but on the plus side we might have some new toys to play with by the time we get our hands on any EDGE terrain. At this rate maybe the F-15 and Su-27 AFM's will even be finished. If the delay results in a high quality, polished product with a minimal amount of bugs it will be just about worth the wait.
  4. I contacted speedmaster about purchasing one of these as it was not available to buy on the site. Unfortunately they are out of stock and won't have any for a while due to 'production issues' :(
  5. Full warthog + saitek combat rudder setup here. The 'hog is a little stiff for helicopters though. I'm thinking about getting a stick extension when I eventually buy a flight seat with a centre mount.
  6. Yep. It's about time we had some news on Nevada, F-15 and Su-27 AFM's, DCS: F/A-18C or just about anything interesting for that matter... There's been very little news on anything since November.
  7. I'd like to know what the source of this 'new update' is. I can't find anything vaguely officially by either RAZBAM or Metal 2 Mesh. Take this with a pinch of salt...
  8. The main problem with the rudder in any flight sim is that resistance doesn't increase with airspeed like it does in real life. This means you can be hurtling along at 300 knots and a quick dab of the pedals will result in full rudder reflection, making you swing wildly from side to side. In real life, the pressure of the airflow rushing past the rudder keeps it centered and as this pressure increases with airspeed, so does the force needed to overcome it. Unfortunately there isn't any way to simulate this without force feedback.
  9. +1
  10. sweeeeet :D
  11. Make entire flight plans Mark and name targets and save them as waypoints Create a mark point directly under you aircraft Show wind direction and speed, ground speed and TAS Create and display offset points from bullseye calls Display distance, time to target, time on target, desired heading a speed It's awkward to get to grips with and there's a lot to learn but it is useful.
  12. For 3 screens I'd go for a 770 4GB or maybe a 780 (they really aren't much more expensive). I've just bought a 770 2GB because I'm only using a single screen. I've actually found that the bottleneck in DCS is now my CPU (i5 2500k). For huge resolutions I'd recommend a hefty CPU cooler and overclock. Then get the most powerful card you can afford with 3GB+ of ram.
  13. Oh man... Just looking at all the stuff RAZBAM have made for FSX. I wish we had even half of that in DCS!
  14. Hmm... Don't think I've overshot a landing in the A-10 for quite a while. If you put her down at 120 knots you can usually stop half way down most strips.
  15. Labels - on. Lol.
  16. Don't install the geforce experience if you're running an nvidia card. Run TS version 3.0.12. I had an issue yesterday where my PTT buttons wouldn't work though until I relaunched DCS and restarted the plugin. In all fairness I've had several issues with TARS before and I can see why others don't use it but being in the 476th, it's mandatory. Don't get me wrong, I think it's an awesome piece of software and really adds to the realism but it can be a right PITA to get set up and running correctly. As a niche, 3rd party add on though, within the already niche combat flight sim market, I don't think support is ever going to be that great for it.
  17. Just read the Wags post about working with oculus and wanting DCS to be a showcase VR experience... Absolute dream come true! I couldn't agree more. I even emailed oculus telling them that DCS would be the perfect showcase a whole year ago when I first heard about the rift!
  18. I'd love to see wake turbulence and jetwash but can imagine they would be hard to code. Wake turbulence in particular can extend hundreds of feet behind an aircraft and slowly spirals downwards. In light aircraft you have to fly a mile or two in trail behind the big boys just so it doesn't flip you over!
  19. F-15E! Also F-14D, F-4G, F16-D, F/A-18D etc... Tornado would be nice too! I hope to see them all one day.
  20. What DX11 features is EDGE supposed to incorporate? Would be nice to see tessellation on mountains for instance.
  21. Awesome news. Glad I won't need LOMAC anymore!
  22. Hope this is ready soon! I've just ordered a GTX 770 to replace my ageing 560Ti and I want to enjoy some fancy graphics!
  23. Have to admit, this looks better than the warthog for jets with radar. It really annoys me not having any rotaries on the 'hog. I wish they'd just put one next to the pinky swithch on the throttle like in the F-15. I know you can use the friction lever instead but it's fiddly and more 'hands off throttle and stick' than on. I also like to use that for zoom. I'm going to wait it out and see if TM make an F/A-18C replica. That would be epic.
  24. Is it soon yet? :D
  25. Does AM/FM homing actually work in the A-10 with the radio set to direction finding mode?
