Wormhole is just a theory. But I think lot of people mistake lenticular clouds as UFOs. Also, until recently, people thought that rogue waves that topple ship were stories made up by sailors. Turns out it's true. Giant Squids were recently captured on video for the first time in the last few years. And Toronto won the NBA Championships. So you never really know what's out there. :D

LOL. One of my favorites ever is Boomhauer: Yeah man, I tell ya what, man. That dang ol’ Internet, man. You just go on there and point and click. Talk about W-W-dot-W-com. An’ lotsa nekkid chicks on there, man. Click. Click. Click. Click. Click. It’s real easy, man. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I lived in Yuma, Arizona too. That's where Yuma Proving Ground is for the US Army. They test for dirt and heat there....so you get the idea.

I'm sure the vast majority of the UFO videos are fake. The one I do like is from the ISS where there is a flash of light, a projectile shooting across the camera and making a 90 deg change.

That F15 video seems a little suspicious. There's a part where the Eagle driver flies right towards the orb. I don't know how many pilots would do that. That second one seems off too. Where's the wingman? I guess he could be higher up but something seems a bit off.

I had to google that. Gliders, I know. But didn't know there was such a thing as a sailplane

Basically the same headphone as the Rift, no?
-
No arguments here. I flew with a TMWH along for a while. Then I added the extensions then the collective. It's a disease, what can I say?
-
It's a bad design. But cheaply built? It's no more or less cheap than Rift. But it's a bad design. No doubt about it.

Come on everybody, let's all say it together: BUT it's dry heat! :D Former Tucson/Phoenix resident

I thought it was an instant action mission. I didn't know you were playing on the Burning Sky server. BRAA is - Bearing / Range / Altitude / Aspect. I was just curious what distance you had trouble identifying the target. I know you don't have a radar in WWII birds. I guess the best thing to test is to create a mission with different WWII birds at various distance to see if I can identify the aircraft.

No, I'm sure you're good at it. It takes a lot of practice. But here's an example (pre-VR). I had a lot of trouble taxing on the runway and maintaining a few feet of altitude. It's one of the free flight missions with Blackhawks taxing. I was trying to follow them. Then I got the Komodo cyclic/collective and I was able to maintain a perfect taxi. Almost overnight. So either I became an expert overnight or it was all due to the longer throws. It can be done. I did it for a while. But it's soooo much better with longer throw joystick/collective. I love the Huey module though. It brings a smile every time I'm flying around.

DCS Tutorial Collection by MemphisBelle

Nice job wrangling all the videos. I would suggest Bunyaps A10C videos. They are outstanding. -
the spring mod is essential and makes it easier to control. But the fine controls just can't be had with shorter stick. Just physics.

And it *is* the best tracking mechanism. Always was. WMR is good enough for flight sim'ing, but if you're thinking of interacting with the entire room, it's a better way to go (the lighthouse route)

What Computer to buy?!?
hansangb replied to CallsignPunch's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
All true. But for gaming rig? I don't know that *anyone* would notice. Could the AMD's upcoming July release be a block buster? For *gaming* I don't know that it will be. There is a history of AMD releasing reasonable prices for a lot cores and for the right workloads, it can't be beat. But for a gaming rig? AMD hasn't convinced me yet. Should you wait for July? There's no harm in waiting as the prices won't go up. You've waited this long, so waiting another month may not be that big of a deal. Full disclosure: I opted to pay way more so I could get my Reverb sooner. So clearly, I don't follow my own advice. :D PS: I'm not an Nvidia bigot, an Intel bigot, or even DCS bigot. I will jump ship the *second* another platform gives me a better experience. But to date, no one has. -
thrustmaster cougar with display

Easy enough to do with USB monitors. Quite simple actually. -
Oh snap. I guess I should register my HMD. Thanks for that!
-
Can you give me a specific example? I'll recreate it in my Reverb and report back? Can you give me some sample BRAA and equipment?
-
But it's DAMN hard w/o joystick extensions. Almost impossible. You can use the TMHW for collective, but again, you'll be fighting the bird the whole time. Longer throws for cyclic and collective REALLY REALLY REALLY help. That and VR.
-
That's a GREAT quote. I'm adding it to my repertoire. :D
-
Yeah and I don't get that. We have military aviators saying they are engaging something made by someone with superior flight characteristics. And no one wants to know? All the pilots are lying? Putting their careers at risk? I know it's hard to apply Occam's Razor because the simplest answer implies something that's hard for us to accept. But still

What Computer to buy?!?

For what you want to do, that's top shelf equipment. I tend to go overboard with 1,000W power supply but what you have listed should be fine. VR is awesome and I think you'll enjoy it quite a bit. Glad things have turned around (based on the budget of your PC!) -
Pimax in current state is much worse FPS-wise than Reverb. And Reverb is more clear. Pimax clearly wins the FoV battle. I have both. And Pimax 5K+ hasn't seen the light of day since I got the Reverb.
