  1. Enjoy it. It sure is great for those of us who lived through wire-frame planes, and polygon hills with sharp angles! I may have to fire up F19 Stealth Fighter one of these days just to see what it looks like. When it comes to sim's, our memory tends to be more generous, it seems to me :) And yes, that trailer was kick-ass!
  2. Just make sure you have the hotfix from MS that fixes the WMR resolution issue. Otherwise, you won't be using Reverb at its maximum resolution. Not in Windows 1903 anyway. On my computer, it didn't load the fix automatically. I had to download it manually. Just google for WMR resolution fix, came about a few weeks ago.
  3. I got one lighthouse (ver 1) from Ebay for about $80 USD.
  4. But consider the goggles if you're even *thinking* of upgrading anytime soon.
  5. I know people like to bash Win10 but honestly, I think it's better than Win7. And win7 was great! What I mean is you should tell you anti-virus program to *not* scan those folders used by DCS.
  6. Yup, zero difference. See: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3740017&postcount=17
  7. Software for HMD has a lot to do with performance. Remember, lot of us had CV1 and in the beginning, things were not as smooth as it is today. The combination of software updates, windows updates, DCS updates all made it better. I must say, Oculus does a bang up job with their software. First on the scene but they have certainly kept up. I just felt that the Rift S was a marginal upgrade w/ known downsides (for me) like no built-in headphones. So I pulled the trigger on Reverb. The smoothness is there. There is no problem with WMR software, other than the 1903 fiasco. My reverb runs WAY WAY WAY more smooth than Pimax that as a lower resolution. Also, I will add that it's not *just* resolution. If you read up on how fresnel lens works, you can imagine how much "art" there must be for getting it to work in a particular scenario. With all that said, I wouldn't trade my Reverb in for ANYTHING. I simply love the much much clearer visuals.
  8. And while you wait to upgrade to a bigger SSD, a few questions . how much space is left on the 250GB SSD? Is Windows installed on it, or is it installed on the 1TB HD? I'm guessing the latter. Is DCS installed on the SSD or the 1 TB HD? Either way, you may have a pagefile on the HD. And it's probably swapping using that page file. The earlier link (I'm assuming) will show you how to change the location of the pagefile. I would keep it at auto and let Windows manage it. But make sure Windows and DCS is on the SSD, along with the pagefile. It's a tight fit, but you should be able to. Finally, exempt the DCS program folder and the SAVED GAMES folder. The program folder should be under "Program Files\Eagle Dynamics" And the SAVED GAMES should be under c:\users\Your_User_Name\SAVED GAMES. I think in Win7, it may be something other than "c:\users" I can't remember. But it should be easy enough to find. And Win7 is dangerously too old. Google for how you can still get a free win10 upgrade from Win7.
  9. But I'm thinking he's wife is blissfully unaware since she doesn't play DCS? Anyway, good tip is to always set the minimum protocols on the printer. Otherwise SLP (service location protocol) and every other protocol can chatter away. Also, to the OP, make sure you don't have couple of hundred documents in your printer queue. Just the other day, I was helping someone who had a very laggy computer. When I saw the top talker, I opened the printer queue and it had 350+ docs that didn't print. He said "yeah, sometimes, things don't print and I have to print it out again. Sometimes, it prints hours later" :)
  10. I can't imagine your printer is spewing that much traffic. Are you checking from your router to see who's using your ISP connection? Do you need to print from the Internet or remotely? If not, manually assign the IP on the printer and remove the gateway IP. That way, you can print normally from the network, but the printer won't be able to contact the Internet. What printer do you have?
  11. Have you tried ProcessLasso a shot? It may be that it's jumping around cores and causing issues? I'm assuming you 1) have paging file set to auto 2) running on SSD 3) deleted the meta and shader directories to rebuild them 4) told AV not to scan DCS and SAVED GAMES dir to see if it makes a difference. BTW, what mission is this? Or was it on a multiplayer server? I've had zero issues with 1809. 1903 had a WMR bug so I reverted to 1809 until the fix came out (two weeks ago). So now I'm back on 1903.
  12. Well, I think he said it worked perfectly fine in another computer. So I guess it's 50/50.
  13. I have a gigabit service and it's more than a 10 minutes. Come on now. It's more like 30 minutes from start to finish for a fresh install, and maybe 45m-1hr for an upgrade. If you don't hit the "99%" stalling issue (easy enough to fix). But in general, from start to finish, it's about 4 hours to have a completely working DCS PC. That's counting my usual apps like Camtasia, Ultraedit, SnagIt, O365, Vectric, and ShapeOko software.
  14. Harlikwin is well aware of what happened on the F14 thread. People literally discussing what spring was. It's an inside joke. You were also taught not to assume, no? It was a joke about all the people who tied themselves into a knot trying to figure out what Heatblur meant when they said "out by end of spring" I wasn't replying to the OP who asked, I was just joining in on the "PTSD" from the F14 experience by Harlikwin. It was meant in jest and you took it as an insult to the OP. I should have used an emoji to make it clear that it was in jest.
  15. There's a for sale section in the forums. You should delete and post there. ED Forums » English » Reality » PC Hardware and Related Software » For Sale Otherwise, the forums will turn into ebay.
  16. And since it's alive, ALIVE!, I might as well as add that in the Thurstmaster subthread of this forum, there is a the "yet another Warthog slew upgrade" thread. You can find an awesome replacement of the built-in mini-stick.
  17. It really depends on what setting and what mission/plane you fly. So if you want to compare performance, it really does depend on a lot of things. Are you asking what FPS people are getting?
  18. Is 6DoF possible with just built-in sensor? It doesn't have a camera for inside out tracking, just IR tracking, no? I thought w/o lighthouse sensors, you only get 3DoF movement.
  19. 5K+ is VERY much clearer than CV1. I've used it. But Reverb is clearer than 5K+. And the performance is way way way better.
  20. It was discussed earlier. I asked if they will provide LUA so that (for at lease the Hornet module), it'll work out of the box. So I'm hoping that is the case. We'll see in a month or two.
  21. That Tomcat inspired stick looks pretty sweet.

    U.F.O.

The problem is that its all fun and games until some loonies get shot and killed. Even inadvertently killrf because he or she is not used to the desert and think they can trek across the desert for 15 miles, never having done it.
  23. I couldn't find it myself, but https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3980006&postcount=1
  24. If you're on Windows 1903, make sure you have the KB that fixes the WMR bug (won't let you take full advantage of higher resolution of Reverb). On my 1903 system, it didn't download the fix automatically. It's KB4507453. You should see it in your update history as that KB.
