  1. That's exactly right. You don't need the gen2 version. First version (around $70-$85) on Ebay is all you need.
  2. I imagine it would be an iterative improvement like Oculus did. Better resolution support w/o SS. Better reprojection algorithms. But mostly supporting higher resolution natively.
  3. Yes, you can. Keep in mind that this is one eye only. And through the lens is notoriously hard to film.
  4. It is viable. The but performance isn't *that* great. I haven't tested the latest PiTool, but the one before it (the one I'm using) gave me about 30-40 FPS. Maybe a bit higher. But with each iteration, the performance has improved. I'm used to VR so the fact that it can be a bit jittery was OK. Not a deal breaker. If you're new to VR, it could very well be a deal breaker. I do like the wider FOV though. But I don't know if it's worth the much higher cost. Not with Rift S and Reverb. P5K+ does have much improved clarity over the original Rift. Quite a bit more. But Reverb is more clear. Although it doesn't have the wider FoV as P5K+. Also, remember that you need a lighthouse base for tracking. One Lighthoouse V1 from ebay will do fine for DCS use.

You're quite right. It's a belief. But, for me, it's based on claims made by reputable people. Unless the Navy pilots that came forth are all liars. Unless the FLIR recordings are fake. You say that radars make mistakes and are not reliable. But do you think NORAD would make that mistake? whose purpose is to safeguard the security of US' airspace? I suppose one could say that they are lying or part of a big cover up, a big disinformation campaign. So I choose to believe that something is up based on the above claims made by people who have nothing to gain. I think what that guy on the show said is 100% true. If these UFOs had a Russian or Chinese flag on it, we would ALL be freaking out and trying to get to the bottom of it. But because it's not readily explainable, people choose to ignore it.
  6. cut and paste and you're done. But don't forget that c:\users\UserName\SAVED GAMES will still stay on the C: (or wherever you installed the OS)

Wow, that episode 6 was unexpected. The Italians are much more open with what they have collected. Fascinating to say the least.
  8. Welcome Airborne! :) 1) Back in the days, I had a Titan. I don't think it was worth it. The extra VRAM is always appreciated, but I don't know that it's worth it. Now, if price is not your primary concern, there's zero harm in getting the Titan series. 2) DCS currently does not support dual GPUs. *When* vulkan (new rendering technology) gets implemented, ED is working on it, it *may* support dual GPUs. But it's conjecture at this point. 3) Motherboards can be tricky. Some have better parts like voltage regulators, some are just more USB ports. I've not used ibuying power but if you go to the manufacturer's website, there is usually a COMPARE option to see what the differences are. 4) I typically go for the 1,000W Platinum. It's really worth it IMHO. 5) M.2 is faster in spec. In reality, there is ZERO difference when you're talking about DCS. I tested launching DCS with SSD (SATA) and M.2. There was no appreciable difference. If you do video rendering, or run VMs, then faster is always better. I don't know if it makes a difference. Some like to keep the Windows OS on one physical drive and DCS in another drive. 6) Out of the box, you'll get great performance (depending on HW choice, of course). But since you're talking about Titan cards, I'm assuming your choices are top of the line. The overclocking will help with DCS. But it is not a make or break deal. And you can always get help from the forum after you get you rig up and running. Enjoy your new rig!
  9. Winwing, one suggestion. I hope you guys are in contact with other forums dedicated to flighsims. Mudspike, SimHQ.com. And other popular reviewers like BeachAV8R (Chris Frishmuth), FroogleSim come to mind. DCS is a great start, but you guys should expand the audience (if not already done)
  10. Yeah, it really went a long way towards their credibility. It was fascinating watching the lessons-learned video.

I'm not talking about the low grain video. I'm talking about the F16 locked on tracks as presented by the Chief of Air Force; I'm talking about the Naval aviators with FLIR image that tracked impossible (as we know it) aircraft; I'm talking about the NORAD and surrounding AF ATC talking about the impossible speeds being tracked. People can choose to believe that there is a global agreement to produce fakery, or that they really do exist. It's up to the person to decide. As for the shaky video, most people will immediately zoom trying to get a better view. Back then, the technology sucked w/o image stabilization, and today, it will still suck because it's not an optical zoom, but a digital one. Finally, scientific principles and the belief in omniscient & omnipotent God is orthogonal. In scientific experiment, you need a control and a variable. That *is* the scientific principle. But if such a god exists, you can never have a control where there is no god. But if such a god does not exist, you can't create the variable where God does not exist.
  12. Make sure you don't upgrade to 1903 yet. There is a WMR bug that limits the clarity. And O+ is impacted by it. You can read through the the last 40 pages of the VR subthread in the INPUT/OUTPUT forum. The HP Reverb thread's last 40 pages or so. Or jus google for 1903 WMR bug.
  13. Huh. I think you really are talking about streaming the game play? Like in twitch? But just to be safe, you're not talking about STEAM right? Some of us just play single player mission. And have not interest in streaming what and how you're playing. I mean it's 100% a personal choice is it not? This is akin to asking why do you drive a white car?
  14. I think SSD would help you more than the memory.
  15. Are you extracting it as an SVG format? what page on the manual is that?

It's math. If it's pure chance that primordial soup and mutations caused life to begin. And if it's pure chance that something delivered the necessary molecules to make earth, than the more opportunities you have (the billions of stars in billions of galaxies) means it'll happen more than once. If you believe in the Genesis theory, then clearly an omnipotent God can create as many lifeforms as he sees fit.
  17. Like I said, you do what makes you happy, I'll do what makes me happy and no one loses. I just don't get the ad nauseum debate about which is better. Whatever makes you happier is better. As for the VR statement, I stand by it. How do you explain the experience of VR in words?

    U.F.O.

But isn't it science and logic that has to dictate we can't be the only ones? In the billions of stars within billions of galaxies, so vast we can't even measure it, we're it? We're the only ones that made it? Does that not defy logic? And if the answer is "yes, other life forms are out there, but there is no faster than light travel" Look how far we've come in 200 years. 6 month travel became a matter of hours. Hyperloop is in a prototype stage that can reduce that by another order of magnitude. Fusion technology will probably happen within our children's lifetime. In 500 years, we won't be able to travel to the stars? And as for the Biblical angle, it does say "In the beginning, God created the heaven*s* and the Earth"
  19. huh. I've always had it maxed, and I do tend to (it seems) enjoy better FPS.
  20. Again with this thread. There are those who think high resolution monitor is king. There are those who think VR is king. Who's to say one is better than the other? YOU! When it comes to monitors or VR, it's my way or the highway. The monitor people will never understand the allure of VR, so why belabor the point? It's not something you can explain with words. And every VR user decided to move away from monitors for a reason.
  21. I've had the 3X 1920x1080 + 2 USB for MFD setup. I have the X34 Predator + 2USB setup, but now I only fly in VR. The the OP, it really is simple to add a display for the MFDs. Hit us up, if you're interested.
  22. CrystalDiskInfo is a must if you have a lot of similar drives. And you don't even have to change the drive letters if you change the shortcut to point to the new drive. Enjoy the bigger drive.
  23. Looks super. Enjoy!
  24. What are you? 14 years old? :D J/K. I *think* Vive's lighthouse has to help, right? I'm going to move on from the P5K+ for Reverb, but I think I'm going to keep the one base station I have. I have two more coming as part of my KS but that'll go wit the P5K
  25. Oh boy...I see an argument about grey vs gray, colour vs color, and what's a lift? happening. True story. When I started learning English, a teacher marked "colour" as being wrong on a spelling test. I promptly showed her a book I was reading and she so "OK, but that's not how we spell it...." LOL. And the forever debate in the Tech world? Rowooter vs roooter. LOL again. And here you go, I took a shot at it. Also, we need some clarification about the order.
