Deadly Force is Authorized. That's what the sign says. I hope these people don't show up. However, if they do, a little or a lot of CS gas will deter them. Hell I think that's all that will be needed. Flashbangs (although not as effective in the open) and CS. And I know people will say "I've been tear gassed before" but unless you've been CS'ed, it's at a whole different level. Check out some of the YT vids on soldiers going through the gas chamber. It's *not* fun.

My IPD is 65.5 It's a little off center, to be accurate: meaning my left and right IPD is slightly different. I've had Rift, Vive, Original Odyssey, P5K+ and now Reverb. I don't know that there is a huge problem with the sweet spot. I haven't tried my P5K+ ever since I got the reverb, and I don't want to try it again. I've "forgotten" about the wider FoV and don't want to be reminded of it, just to test the sweet spot. :D

Damn. Never even heard about this. Thanks for posting. It's pretty damn interesting. 3.5Miles in a second, so that's what, 12K miles/hour? That's impressive.

Moving DCS World and Modules To A New PC
hansangb replied to Tinkickef's topic in Installation Problems
Hmm, I wish I could help. I think I've always upgraded the CPU with with the GPU. -
If the cable layout is the same, yes. There is no harm in doing it. It's just good practice to insure you have strain relief. Every HMD I've ever had had a strain relief.

Yup, I yanked mine off. Also, I booted into 1903 and I too can confirm that the WMR patch now shows the higer resolution in WMR/SteamVR resolution. But I had to get the patch manually. It didn't download on its own. Which I found a bit interesting. I should have taken it for a flight *before* the update but I forgot! :(

Moving DCS World and Modules To A New PC
hansangb replied to Tinkickef's topic in Installation Problems
Honestly, it doesn't matter. Even if you run out, you get up to one activation a month that you can use. I'm down to 3 or 2 on some and don't really care. It's not like I'm going to update MBs/CPU's/GPU's once month or anything. But the new module manager makes it easy to activate and deactivate. -
Yeah, it's hard to explain how nice it is. When it first came out, I wrote that it took me back to MicroProse's Gunship! days. Even with the polygon mountains, it was such a BLAST! And the Huey sim brings back that joy. Wonderful module, no doubt about it.

You can just copy the entire DCS folder between the two computers. Saves you from having to download gigs and gigs of DCS.

With Pimax5K+ and Reverb, it's no longer the case. I can't speak for the others since I haven't tried it first hand.

USB Button Conflicts, need help
hansangb replied to djlang1978's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's VERY common for DCS to assign the same function across all USB devices. So the first thing is to make sure you don't have that problem. The USB devices are identified by GUIDs so the conflict can't (realistically) happen. Unless it's a vendor that uses the same GUID across all of their devices. So my guess is that you have the same control bound to multiple USB devices. -
This is not a curvature issue. It shouldn't do that. I thought Milan shipped a calibration software. Did you go through that first?

Wait, so I *can* order the joystick extensions now? I'm not talking about the desktop mounts. I'm talking about extension for the joystick grip to the base. Or do you mean it will be available in the future? Thanks
-
PointCTRL does that today.
-
Winwing, question for you. I did the pre-order but i thought the extensions would be available for the pre-order folks? I only saw the one SKU that could be ordered. Did I miss something or are the extensions available? thanks
-
I'm guessing you're referring to use the VR hand controllers to act like a joystick? My guess would be that *overwhelming* number of DCS users would prefer a real HOTAS. I'm just going by my gut and all the discussions in the forum. I would NEVER fly DCS with a controller acting as a joystick. A few years from now, if the haptic feedback is perfected, and the Captogloves of the world become reality, then I would revisit my opinion. But we're pretty far away from that happening.

Weird, I only get the "sorry, pre order is delayed" I guess I'll check at 6AM Pacific. That should be 9PM Shanghai time.

Latest Benchmarks - Intel vs AMD
hansangb replied to m335's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The last update from Wags (a few months ago?) was that the engine was updated to use Vulkan, and the devs were working on the shaders. I imagine that's the bulk of the work. -
Another option to overcome the lack of buttons (if you're not going to buy the Virpils). VoiceAttack and Vaicomm gives you the ability to say the commands so you can overcome the limitation of lack of buttons.

Latest Benchmarks - Intel vs AMD
hansangb replied to m335's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Here's a tip. Never love something that can't love you back. It's just a motherboard and gaming, there's no reason to call people stupid, is there? And everything in technology gets outdated the minute you buy it. It's worse depreciation than driving off the lot with your new car. -
Sadly not in VR. It's not bad, but it could be better. Also, folks should be clear. Is your RIG for DCS only? I mean lot of people use it video rendering, running VMs, and doing CAD/CAM/3D work. In those cases, I'm sure AMD shines just as well as Intel at a much more attractive price. My rig is used for two things. Watching YT Video while learning how to use SketchUp or Vectric CAD/CAM, playing DCS, and rendering YT videos. And DCS plays a prominent role in my decision making process. Everything else, I do on my laptop.

Don't wuss out on the rain! If it ain't raining, we ain't training! :D Oh wait, that's for the ground pounders! LOL. I'll have to give that a shot. I heard you can hear the ocean waves as well.

1080Ti is probably the bottleneck. But not by much. You should try turning off shadows and PD to 1 as a start. But you would need to post your SteamVR settings (how much you're scaling), your PiTools settings, and ingame DCS settings.
