Oh, I see. I'll have to check out the link. Thanks for that.

It really is dependent on what the HMD focal distance is. Unfortunately, it's a hard piece of information to gather. I don't know why it's not prominently displayed in the spec sheets.

Is it possible to use VR + MFCD export together?
hansangb replied to foobolt's topic in Virtual Reality
You did this with VR? Or do you mean in general (i.e. with monitors) -
Isn't "gen2" just a plastic clip to hold the two cables tighter? I don't think there was any change other than that?
-
Winwing, can you please post here as well? Some of us don't go onto Facebook much, if ever. Thank you.
-
I think the way the cable is designed would make it hard to do this. I don't know if the splitter of DP and USB has enough room. If no one answers, I can check late tonight.

I'm not sure what remi is talking about. I have him blocked so I can't see his posts directly (I don't know him from Adam, but he says two things: VR sucks, and you're an idiot if you buy anything computer related since there is a new version that's coming out in 0-X months. I got tired of it after a while and used the block feature.) But with Reverb, I can easily spot planes 5-10 miles out. I've seen IRL pilots who say that's about the limit in optimum conditions. I have a test mission that I created just to test this. Reverb is changing what visibility can be in VR. There is *NO* instrument that I cannot read. Now with CV1, yes, it can be challenging to read some stuff. But it wasn't impossible. You can use the VR Zoom function or lean in a bit. But clearly, Reverb is *WAY* better in terms of clarity. "gimmick" ? Not so much.

That is *not* the point. It's about the total package. The sense of flying, of sitting in fighter/helo of your choice. Your missing the ENTIRE point. I'll state it again. You can look at a picture of Grand Canyon in 4k, 8K. Or you can be there. It's a personal choice and I choose the latter. Ultimately, it's the same "is VR good or bad" thread that we've had ad nuaseum. It's a personal choice. To each his own. Enjoy your 4K, 8K, 16K monitors. Enjoy your brand of HMD. I think Mr. Burns got enough data points.

There inventory system seems near real time to me. Hopefully you saw the count drop by one. They seem to run a first rate ecommerce. Good luck.

I think Reverb is the first HMD that gave me the feeling of 1080 resolution monitor. I could legitimately consider working with other apps like Word, Excel, or browse using the HMD. I wouldn't even think about it with CV, P5K+. I don't have Rift S or Index, so I wouldn't know. I don't think pits and VR are mutually exclusively. I prefer reaching out and touching the physical switch. So it was important to me that with Reverb, I could take out the nose pad so I can *SEE* through the bridge of my nose. It doesn't break the immersion for me and I can operate MFDs, switches. P5K+s wider FoV is VERY nice. But not at the cost of lower resolution and quirky software performance. Reverb doesn't take any performance hit because I reduce the PD (pixel density (SS) within DCS, it's built it) to 1.0. The native (higher) resolution of Reverb makes it a mute point. I do find it amusing that most people who are against VR never tried it. Or are competitive gamers looking for every edge, like TiR's unnatural panning capabilities. IIRC, you live down under? I think I read that Reverb is stating to ship in AU/NZ. Maybe you can give it a shot, and if you hate it, make sure it's returnable. ED has made great strides in improving VR experience. And when technologies like vulkan are released, I'm sure it'll get even better.

It's odd because it's been reported that other countries' (besides USA) commercial pilots are more forthcoming about the encounters. But it's usually verboten in the US. Maybe that'll change after the Navy officially revised the reporting structure of UFO encounters.

HAHAHAHAHAhahaha. That was funny!

It may fight into the 2K Euro mark.

What price range are you looking it? Have you looked at the Razer line?

People have been at the grand unified theory for some time now. And I never stopped marveling at the fact that gravity keeps moon in check, but every time I pick up a pencil, I'm defeating gravity. Very odd.

Framerate Stutters/Pauses - Possibly solved..
hansangb replied to GPatricks's topic in Game Performance Bugs
The folks who made Normandy said they would fix it after they finish with Syria map (is it Syria? Can't remember). -
For joystick stuff, or DSD/Bodnar boards of the world, USB2 works just fine. So if this is just for flight sim peripheral, any powered USB with good reviews will work. I have this one mostly because it has separate power switches.

Micro-stutters when connected to internet

You can also get a clue by using the Network tab of the Resource Monitor (built in app). There are other surefire ways, but it may require more learning curve than necessary. -
What a coincidence. On a lark, I picked up Bob Meyer's book on Area 51 (complete fiction). I loved his SF series books for the "military" authenticity that you just can't get unless you've been in. But the books (on the 2nd one) tracks this thread so well that I have to laugh. The crux being that the gov't knows about UFO's, has UFO's and slowly released information to the public. Sprinkled with paid disinformation "campaigners" to make UFO people look loonie.

Oculus Rift S vs Regular Oculus
hansangb replied to mytai01's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
maybe better to ask under the VR subthread in INPUT and OUTPUT thread? -
Maybe he had the 1903 w/o the KB patch? Or didn't have the SS set, or was using SS and PD?

All DCS`s input devices on USB hub

Yeah, I have the exact same one. I like having the two power switch to turn things on and off. -
I think you get your material from here: https://pdos.csail.mit.edu/archive/scigen/ Sometimes I get the feeling you really believe this stuff. Sometimes I *have* to think you're just typing non-sense. Sometimes I think you're trying to be as ridiculous as possible. And we're back to, sometimes, I think you really do believe this.

And you can try out Acronis for free. I'd recommend you buy it since it's a terrific backup software (if you don't already have one).

I'll have to check that out. I also remember a radio show by Sen. Barry Goldwater where he said that when he asked the AF General (in charge of Wrights Paterson) about the aliens that they took there (from Roswell) the general went ballistic. Telling the senator he should know better than to pry. He made it sound like the general was upset not because Goldwater was asking about nonsense but because he was upset about Opsec. It was an interesting interview to say the least. But, ahem, that would be Major*s* General. Quirky plurization of rank names. Like Sergeants Major and not Sergeant Majors :D
