  1. I think he meant at the same time. When there were separate branches of DCS World, that was possible, but with a single branch covering all maps, that little dodge has been lost to us. From here on in, it'll be 1 server, 1 map at a time.
  2. Clearing out all unwanted stuff running in the background will usually fix your problem. There are a number of apps that will clear out all unwanted software before starting to game. I use End It All, but there are plenty more out there if you search for them. No doubt someone will have a recommendation for an alternative.
  3. "Hope to" is the key phrase for the end of spring release target, so don't be at all surprised if it is subject to delay. One thing you will never get from ED is a precise release date when there are still so many things that need implementing. The key is not to pin your hopes on any particular release point - even though ED will be straining every sinew to make their internal deadlines. So, 31st May it is :joystick: :joystick: :joystick:
  4. Not being able to change the time of day mid-mission sort of matches how the real world works. Weather needs a lot of work of course, but I can hardly agree with the request for time switching.
  5. I was saying end of May (the forecast release point for the Persian Gulf map) and end of Spring (release forecast for the Hornet). I was not suggesting the two time points are related, though I can see where the confusion arose. June 21st is also the longest day - which according to the film - took place on the 6th June entirely in monochrome, so there is lots of confusion out there if you look for it. :music_whistling: :music_whistling: :music_whistling:
  6. I got mine in 1 week from the EU shop. Standard cams and springs are what I have settled on too - after stripping it down and rebuilding it with every combination possible. I have always run with zero curves and zero dead zone, and so far that's where I am sticking with the T50 too. Love the stick, and particularly the option to swap the grip and still use the Warthog when I fly the A-10C. It looks solidly built, and the finish is fine too.
  7. I have found the opposite to be the case. There are some issues sure, but VR is front and centre as far as developments are concerned, so I think you have a rather pessimistic outlook guys. VR is the most resource hungry way to run DCS World, and you will need to do a little research here, or try tweaking things to establish the best settings for maximum performance. Right now, you will not be able to run things on max, and MSAA and anti aliasing need to be handled with care. There is no spare power when you use VR. The good news is the next generation of GPUs is about to arrive, so although it'll cost more hard earned cash, there is a way forwards.
  8. We have a server PC which has a below par graphics card, but it ran just fine with the option to run the server without deferred shading. The update to 2.5.1 has screwed us as far as running a server for our virtual squadron is concerned, and I now have to run it on my own PC. Is there any possibility of a server option for DCS World - running without deferred shading? Hopefully it wouldn't be a problem that it runs under the unsupported old graphics system. It is either that, or we will have to drastically reduce our profile as a free to use multiplayer server unless we can get hold of a better card, which with limited funds is not likely very soon.
  9. We had an issue last night in multiplayer where the JTAC wouldn't respond to a 9-line read back. Anyone else have this problem?
  10. I suspect you're asking the impossible when you want to run without deferred shading. Yes, there is a performance hit, but I have been using VR and deferred shading since it's arrival. MSAA x2 and PD at 1.3 works best for me, and I get a pretty solid 45 FPS. Going forwards, I am sure we will see more optimisation, so I wouldn't despair just yet.
  11. Jeez you really are a persistent one aren't you! What I said was you don't ever have to move the task bar to make DCS World work. There is actually a much easier and more relevant fix - just hit Alt+Enter to go to full screen mode. To take a quick peek at the desktop, just Alt+Tab as you will need to do to take the focus away from DCS World anyway. For your information, you do occasionally have to click against the side of the window too, and when you do so, the task bar gets in the way there. Just because you have a different method that you use to bodge things doesn't make your way the correct way. Nor does it mean I am telling people what to do, I am merely pointing out the easiest way to make the system work as it is designed to. As was the OP, and Skatezilla, and everyone else that is wise to ignore your misguided advice. Full screen works. It works precisely as it was designed to, and therefore no one needs to start shifting the task bar around to get round a problem that simply doesn't exist. Get it, don't get it, who cares? But to suggest the correct method is incorrect simply because you have an impractical alternative is frankly absurd. Get over yourself!
  12. I have my slider set to 1.3 usually, but even on 1.0 I get good visibility of distant aircraft.
  13. I have never had difficulties seeing out to 12 miles plus using VR and the Rift on a 980 graphics card. Admittedly, at that range they are hard to pick out, but they're there, and they're visible.
  14. Is this a rhetorical question? Clearly the update is in 2 parts, one of which is 8Gb, and the second, for you, is 6Gb. I suspect the second update is for the installed modules, and the 8Gb is for DCS World. They're often large updates, and they take a while to download and install. Nothing much we can do about it other than to go and have a cuppa and relax.
  15. Actually I was right, and you don't NEED to move the task bar anywhere. Just press Alt+Enter, as has been stated ad nauseum here, and you will have full screen, and you won't have any situations where you click outside the DCS Window. What is wrong with you people? I am not being pedantic, nor am I being a twit. You can and should use full screen, and you have been able to do so since 1.5 were a lad. Please stop spreading rubbish because it is you who is wrong and not I. If in doubt refer to what Skatezilla said in his post.
  16. That's what it says, so the natural answer would be yes.
  17. Is it nearly the end of May and the end of spring yet?
  18. I haver been flying in DCS World for as long as VR has been available, and I can promise you, it works. The task bar at the side is a problem if you don't like having the task bar at the side for all other applications. I simply can't understand why anyone would want to contradict the plain truth of the matter, and complicate it in this way.
  19. Floppies are new technology. I have C60 cassettes here still!
  20. The location is everything here Zhukov. You're in Texas, so you have access to the US suppliers. I however am in Europe, where VKBs distributor is as much use as a chocolate fire screen. They're simply not available here at all, which is a huge error. Hence Virpil wins orders that VKB would easily have filled. Their loss is also our loss unfortunately, because it will affect how much they can spend on future developments, so it also impacts on you in Texas as well.
  21. Delays have cost sales. I have waited long enough, and gone for a Virpil stick instead. Europe is the poor relation it seems.
  22. I've just ordered Virpil. Ordered last evening, despatched today. Can't grumble at that, and it seems VKB are going to miss the boat in Europe if they don't get their act together soon.
  23. ED (Wags in fact) have stated that along with the Blue Angels skin, there will be removable pylons.
  24. They're not available, so what exactly is the point of this? Russian developers will always have an insurmountable hurdle when it comes to intellectual rights of Russian equipment. Get used to it.
  25. The size of maps is determined by the available technology today. Wags has said that there will be expansions when tech catches up, and the ultimate aim is to have the entire globe so you can fly between maps. That however may be decades away. As for the lack of multiplayer use of the NTTR map - it is unfortunate, but the additional cost of running a server with premium maps, plus the fact that NTTR is not supported by multiplayer missions and the general lack of any historic air wars over the region will always mean this is an under exploited corner of the globe. Hopefully, the Persian Gulf will not suffer a similar fate.
