Please please please ED, can we have the F/A-18C by this weekend? I have a very pressing need for something constructive and creative to do all day Saturday - to avoid any news broadcasts and specials regarding the royal wedding. I wouldn't usually ask, but I feel this is a dire emergency. The thought of having to endure all the sycophantic drivel coming out of the devil's lantern on this miserable day is just one of those occasions when help is desperately needed!

You make it seem like there is room for debate on how DCS World progresses. The deferred shading route was chosen for a reason. Perhaps developing 2 branches of technology was determined to be a waste of resources - go figure! Like it or not, DCS World is, and always was and probably always will be work in progress as technology evolves. Technology just hasn't quite caught up with the demands of VR yet, but given a few more decades maybe it'll be almost there! I suppose the alternative is ray-trace boxes that look dire, but run incredibly smoothly on a 386 SX so as not to exclude anyone who isn't quite cutting edge. Who remembers Betamax and VHS? That's kind of where VR is today. It'll improve, but not without you having to bin your entire collection of Mad Max Videos. There is an alternative of course, ask any ostrich!

Is it possible to render same image to both eyes?
NeilWillis replied to TomOnSteam's topic in Virtual Reality
The limiting factor in VR isn't so much frame rates as resolution. If we had 4K available in the headset, maybe you'd have a point, but frankly losing the 3D aspect would mean you are just as good going for a large screen, or projection in a dome. VR is all about 3D, or what is the point? -
Warning lights around UFC blocking view of ODUs.
NeilWillis replied to =4c=Nikola's topic in AV-8B N/A
Hold down Right Shift and Right Control then use the numpad keys to move your viewpoint around. Removable elements of a solid panel would be very weird to say the least. The real answer, as has been said, is to get head tracking set up. You can do it without spending a huge amount of money - lots of stuff has been written on this forum on the subject. Not only will it allow better views in the cockpit, but it adds hugely to the experience in lots of other ways too. -
It has changed some stuff in the Harrier it seems. No wing root vapours any more, so it isn't just an updater.

Weight - or lack of it - is important for landing the MiG-21 Stratos. That, and keeping your speed high so you don't stall before the wheels are on the deck.

Delighted with my stick. Quick delivery too, so thanks Virpil for a great product, prompt response to enquiries too.
-
Have you tried re-installing the MiG-21? It seems the bug isn't universal, so it points to your own install being corrupted somehow. I see elsewhere that you said you didn't have any mods installed, so that can be ruled out.

It's just you.

The point was that Magnitude 3 LLC were asked to create it, for reasons other than the mainstream market that is DCS World. They simply entered into a contract to develop it, and we get the benefit of it here too. Why is this such an issue? Don't want it? Great! Just don't buy it! Why do you have to keep moaning about it?

Nvidia says it got a pile of GPU's in stock...
NeilWillis replied to BitMaster's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'd give it a few days and check back. I am looking to upgrade mine soon, so let's hope this is good news. -
I have never had issues with reading the HUD fonts. Perhaps it may be time to make an appointment for a quick eye check? As long as you increase the pixel density very slightly (I use 1.2 at the present time), you will have a perfectly clear, legible HUD.

Following the latest video, it looks like it'll be this week or next, because the Persian Gulf will be released later than the Hornet, but both will be out by the end of May. Exciting times!
-
Except of course the Christen Eagle II was developed not only with DCS World in mind, but is probably bringing in much needed resources to allow the other airframes to be developed. Buying it will just increase the resources available to the developers which equals more development time available which equals more modules available sooner. Do try to keep up, and while you're at it, try to see the bigger picture here.

Looks like we'll get the Hornet in the next 2 weeks - given that the Persian Gulf map will arrive after the Hornet, and both are appearing before the end of the month according to this video just released by Wags. Great news indeed!

Today is bugged? Never seen a patch released for a whole day!
-
29th May. It's a Wednesday, and it is the closest to the end of Spring given that 1st June marks the first day of summer in some quarters. However, 1st June would also be a pretty good assumption given that the pre-release sale for the Persian Gulf ends the day before. So I estimate 3 weeks. (or 2 weeks plus 1)

Did you apply the frequency and TACAN using advanced waypoint options? Setting up tankers is not as straight forwards as it seems. I suggest you download a mission from those available that include tankers, and see exactly how the tankers are set up.

What is stopping the Spit coming out of beta?
NeilWillis replied to imacken's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/spitfire/ Still got clipped wing variant on the specification list for the package, so you don't mind if we disregard your statement. They have always said it would get the clipped wing option after the pre-release Beta. If you can provide anything to contradict that, then let's see it. The last statement I read from ED said that they were working on it, but the flight model would need modification too, so it wouldn't be soon. And on the original topic, until all the features listed in the link are there, the Spitfire will remain in Beta. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for it. -
The key is primary roles. A primary fighter - F. A primary bomber - B. A thing with bits that spin round on top - H. Of course it's over simplified, but how else would you suggest they did things? They're just code names, not in-depth surveys of capabilities.

It's good to see the new office. Looks excellent. Thanks guys.

There are also 2 aircraft that you can fly for free when you download DCS World. The Su-25 and the TF-51D. The TF-51D is a Mustang minus armour and armaments.

Given the choice of 20mm rounds riddling the airframe, or an over G report on landing, I know which I'd choose. We're not simulating peacetime - the clue is in the title of the software.
