  1. And make sure you also remove them from the main directory when they are moved.
  2. Your perception of the colour will be affected by the outside world. Grass is green, Autumn (fall) environments will emphasise the brown look to it, and against a white background you'll see it as yellow. It isn't overdone, again, it is your perception of it that is out. It will be obvious when compared to relatively clear glass, but that doesn't make it wrong.
  3. Have you considered that these issues may not be caused by the core program? What spec is your machine for example? Can it meet the minimum requirements? As for individual missions being broken - 2.5 is just 3 days old. Missions have been tested, but the testing isn't infallible, so just make a report, and the issue will no doubt be addressed.
  4. How can you possibly know how much effort is being put into fixing this? Yes, it is an issue, and one that ED must be well aware of as they have advised not to mix the two things. To quote... "Rome wasn't built in a day" Rome is still a work in progress thousands of years after a wolf allegedly suckled twins Romulus and Remus. DCS World is very similar in that respect (but I am sure Wags was raised in a much less outrageous manner?). We have had 2.5 in BETA form precisely 3.5 days! If it can be fixed, it will be fixed of that we can be sure. How much effort has been put into the bug isn't something anyone outside ED is privy to, so maybe you're being a little rash in you assertion?
  5. It must be very simplistic indeed to make radial (air cooled) engines and inline (water cooled) engines behave similarly! For example, to regulate cooling of a radiator, you open an array of cowl flaps to regulate air flow over the cylinders. Water cooled engines have buffers - the plumbing, water density, and radiator efficiencies. They will substantially increase the time lapse between cowl/radiator flap opening and the engine cooling. They are fundamentally different, and any model ignoring that will be a very poor model.
  6. It is there. You need to go to the new mission option, which takes you to the red/blue/neutral configuration. You can select any of the maps from there.
  7. Believe it or not, this effect was originally released as a mod. It might not suit everyone, but it is a thing, and was important enough to warrant someone writing the mod. It is in keeping with reality, even if some of you feel it may be over done. Also, it is yellow, and not green.
  8. It was good to see that the PAPI lights are working again now. Thanks ED!
  9. Not true.
  10. Have you done anything as simple as opening and saving a mission created under older versions in 2.5?
  11. Nope. Not gonna happen. It is an entirely different approach, and having invested several years into DCS World, to rip all that up and start again on the eve of the 2.5 merger release? Are you kidding? We already have hi-res terrain mesh, and if you took the time to actually look at any of the 2.5 video footage, with it's light and shading, vapour renditions and explosions, I'd suggest even Google earth would be a retrograde step. So why now?
  12. TMS forward short gives you point tracking, followed by TMS forward long gives you a locked SPI. It has to be used when employing Mavericks. Maybe that will be what you need to do?
  13. The real pilots manual is available. The data ought to be in there. I have a hunch we'll be getting some method of calculating it all in-flight some time too. When we'll get it is of course is much harder to calculate than the landing/take off data.
  14. I suspect you will not be able to use future modules in an obsolete version of DCS World. ED would need to continue supporting it in order to release patches every time a new module appeared. They have said it will no longer be supported once the 2.5 branch is released.
  15. By that thinking, do airlines give away tickets to people who don't get a window seat? She should have no issues sitting in the back seat without you buying her a second license, but you won't be able to sit in the front at the same time - is that any help?
  16. We have the original pilot's handbook for the Spitfire, and there is clearly no published data for maximum gliding range. There is possibly a good reason for that. Bear with me... I don't expect they were used much as gliders, and in an emergency, you either hit the silk, or make the best of a bad deal. I'm just guessing here, but unless you happen to have been carrying the manual into flight every time, tables wouldn't really be a lot of use. There is also no way of telling the weight of the aircraft in order to establish precisely what your glide performance would be - you may have noticed the fuel gauge only measures the total in one of the tanks, and unless you can climb out of the cockpit, unfasten the panels on the wings and count the remaining rounds, another variable is also absent. So what use precisely would a set of graphs be to you when your engine fails?
  17. You are all aware I am sure that ED has already said a dedicated server is coming. I'm still waiting for any evidence you have to support your utterly spurious claims about multiplayer. As the last poster said, things are improving, and with the release of 2.5 taking priority for very obvious reasons, with it released, and stable, we can expect movement on other issues - including multiplayer functionality. Some of us have been flying multiplayer missions for years. It works. But yes, we would welcome the overhaul that has been promised. But what's with the bull about it being what DCS World is all about? For a small minority it might be. Please, stop trying to twist indisputable facts to strengthen your argument. All you are doing is wrecking your credibility. Unless of course you have this non-existent evidence?
  18. A quick search here will bring up more stuff. Also, check the Facebook pages.
  19. Radial - air cooled. In-line - water cooled. I still suspect that stuff applicable to the Yak-52 will not really be relevant to the P-51. You appear to think rather differently. I get it!
  20. I take it New Zealand isn't where you do your flying? If you re-read the posts, the statement was that in NEW ZEALAND there is a rule dictating that they have to fly with a 30 minute reserve of fuel. The "in many countries" proviso doesn't apply in HIS circumstances, so where are you going with this? It doesn't matter a jot whether you fly where you fly. He has a reserve in order to comply with his aviation law. If you flew in New Zealand, you'd be bound by that rule too, whether in a jumbo jet, or a microlight. If you are towing gliders in New Zealand, see the above statement! I think perhaps you might reconsider whether the statement - "you'd be stupid to fly without a 30 minute reserve of fuel". Because frankly, anyone who flouts aviation law isn't what anyone would describe as "wise". What is possible, and what isn't possible depend on a lot of factors. Ignore any of them at your peril. In this case, you seem to have somewhat lost, or ignored, the plot!
  21. Well? Let's see this evidence...
  22. It has always been possible to switch an install between release and beta branches. Just do a search, and all will be revealed.
  23. It's very simple and straightforward. Most purchases you can apply a bonus to. Usually there is a maximum limit of 30%, but offers can and do change that. If a discount has been added it may or may not remove bonus point use. For example 2.5 is currently discounted, and you cannot apply bonus points. If ED decide you can get up to 70% of the purchase price in bonus points then you can exceed the 30% limit. The bonus points can be applied to anything they decide to include, and cannot be applied to anything they exclude. Not a joke, and no lies anywhere - just plain old confusion. Where's the difficulty in that?
  24. As 2.5 is going to update 1.5.8 Beta, it will in all likelihood simply use the existing beta saved games install. Best advice would be to create a back up of the Beta saved games, and then see what happens when you have applied the update. If it is using the old saved games, then all you need to do is monitor things for a day or two before deleting the back-up. If the controls revert to default, just gradually copy across from the back-up you created. Make sure you make copies of the new saved games directory before you start that too, because it may introduce bugs, so belt and braces is the way to go. One area you will have to reinstall regardless is the 3 way switch mods, which sit in the main directory, and not saved games of course.
  25. The reserve requirements are there to stop people like yourself falling out of the sky. The bottom line is, if you can carry spare fuel, why the hell wouldn't you? Weather is unpredictable. Airport closures happen for myriads reasons. What would you do if your destination was socked in, and the divert airport you so carefully planned for closes due to the runway surface breaking up? You have 10 minutes fuel reserve, and the nearest open airport is 15 minutes away? ATC would happily divert you because - of course, you'd never be so stupid as to take off without a minimum reserve of 30 mins! Or do you absolutely guarantee that could never happen?
