Newcomer looking for Squadron for learning
NeilWillis replied to Pedro DK Portela's topic in Multiplayer
Mice idea, but I don't expect there is anyone out there with the time or organisational skills to do anything so complex and time consuming. On another note, we at RAF Air UK have a relaxed organisation, and we take total novices under our wing and provide one to one training when it is needed. You also get to fly ops right away, even if you do struggle laying a bomb on a target, or struggle to hold a formation. http://www.rafairuk.co.uk -

Just like the real thing then. :music_whistling: -
ALWAYS Run DCS in full screen on your monitor
NeilWillis replied to Thick8's topic in Virtual Reality
No, it just moves the task bar to a place where you click less often. Full screen works very well, so why complicate things by screwing up everything else you do on your PC? -
Yes, there is always that. Thinking there is a weight balance issue is a genuine concern of course. Doesn't it all shift with different fuel loading anyway? Have you tried comparing different loads? That isn't made clear. Are there any facts associated with different CofGs in different ausf, and if so, why not add them to support your case?

Excellent, thanks!

"every one else does it so it must be right"? Did you read the post regarding pulling out of dives and the resulting action taken by the Luftwaffe? When the Kurfurst appeared, the standard of pilot training had become mediocre. Adding negative trim prior to take off will make the beast docile enough until you get airborne and trim it out correctly. Who in their right mind spawns into an airborne aircraft anyway if they want realism? Yes, we are happy to discuss any topic, providing it hasn't already been discussed ad infinitum, and the result of that debate was that ED are still sticking to the deeply researched, and implemented flight model. Surely, in a debate where it has all been discussed at length, the onus is on you to produce the evidence, not everyone that contradicts you based on those previous discussions. I suggest you do a search on the forum, and read everything that has already been said on this matter. Just because it doesn't suit you does not mean it must be wrong. To assume that it is up to everyone else to do your research for you is just plain wrong, wouldn't you agree? Surely the civilised way of proving your point is for you to come up with hard evidence. Why should everyone else have to disprove your hunch based on inferior flight models of the past?

So you can replicate Op Black Buck of course! A bombing mission from Ascension Island to the Falklands and back. Enough said?

ALWAYS Run DCS in full screen on your monitor
NeilWillis replied to Thick8's topic in Virtual Reality
Yes, there is, and no it doesn't stop you clicking outside the window when working in the extremities of VR. Hence the need to run in full screen, and also the fact that the check box for running in full screen doesn't work either, as already stated! -
I'm guessing the non-paying players will see the carriers, but won't be able to land on in anything but the most basic way. A hook, a cat, and possibly parking slots?
-
We're getting a partially functioning Nimitz class. If you watch the live feeds (which are also recorded and still available) you will find a lot of useful information gleaned from the Q&A sections which Wags covers during low points in the flights. The Nimitz class carrier will start out having Case 1 functionality, with case 2 and 3 facilities absent. They will follow after release, but the Hornet should have carrier landings available on pre-release. Also already stated (by Silver Dragon) is the fact that the Nimitz will be available to all as AI, but will have additional features added by an optional premium module. So, in answer to the question - the one you see will be both free, and a premium module depending on what you intend to do with it.
-
I have heard there will be hangar space in the Nimitz eventually, so logically there must also be working elevators too.
-
Actually no, we don't. It would be a total waste of resources, and an absolute travesty.
-
VR no question. I'm surprised you even had to ask!

ALWAYS Run DCS in full screen on your monitor
NeilWillis replied to Thick8's topic in Virtual Reality
It helps - mainly because it prevents you clicking outside the window when you reach for switches at the extremities in the cockpit. So yeas, it is essential - does it improve frame rates? Don't think so, but it doesn't hurt. You always need to go to full screen using alt-enter. Checking the full screen option doesn't work, and hasn't for at least a year. A fix for that would be very useful now we have 2.5 in a stable form. -
2021 (and earlier) DCS Newsletter Discussion Thread
NeilWillis replied to NineLine's topic in DCS 2.9
You get no precise info because even ED don’t know at this stage of development. Are they going to hit snags that delay the programme? Will there be any severe bugs encountered? As for whether it comes out in release or beta - expect beta for at least a week before it is migrated into a release branch t allow final testing in open beta. It is what mostly happens. It just isn’t possible to be exact. Any delays meet with derision from the client base if they try. It is what it is, so you’ll just have to accept it. Sorry, but given that you’ve been around long enough to become a senior member, you must know that. -
Why cant throttles start w moving Hotas throttle sticks?
NeilWillis replied to sonicd0012's topic in Mission and Campaigns
I just make sure the throttles are in the cut off position when I start, and use the synch option. -
Use a voice activated command system and run in full screen (alt-enter). SRS - listen for the squelch when pressing send.

Purchasing the Persian Gulf Map for MP, who's buying it?
NeilWillis replied to F900EX's topic in DCS: Persian Gulf
Your choice. But I can’t help wondering where else you will find anything that comes close to DCS World. It’s always been an evolutionary process given the small customer base, and huge complexity of the modelling. You really showed ED didn’t you! :music_whistling::music_whistling: -

The clue was in the previous post - the price rises on release. -
Worked for me.
-
In the light of EDs recent bereavement, a small wait for an update is totally understandable, but thanks for the update Bignewy.
-
For your information the player base is as happy as it's ever likely to be. You're in a minority if you think the Gulf map is a waste of time and money, as I am sure ED already are aware of or they'd not have invested so much time and money into it. Your interests are of no interest to anyone except yourself. If you have anything constructive or relevant to say, go ahead. If not, then why say anything at all?
-
Who cares what you do or don't buy. It's no business of ours what you do with your spare time and cash!

I've invested in some middle east real estate too.
