  1. You probably are right..... read the book as soon as it was first released which was a VERY long time ago sad to say..
  2. With Track IR I found I had to disable it BEFORE I jumped to the door gunner position to get effective mouse control. Don't know Headtracker but sounds like they could use some sort of Pause function too. I'm still ok in 1.2.5 also
  3. I keep getting nailed by a Mig 23 firing guns while I'm hugging the ground. This is something I can't see many Mig 23 drivers doing frequently if at all ? Edit: This is Single Player mode. No limits on what some of the crazy jet jockeys will do in multi-player though.....
  4. That Canadian site Thomasew linked to has many excellent flight manuals available for purchase or free PDF download. Thanks. I grabbed a couple for helis
  5. I remember a story from VietNam of a pilot moving something like a power (phone) pole. The load started swinging and took out his main rotor. It did not end well for the pilot and crew
  6. Excellent video series from Getting Smarter. Thanks
  7. Would be nice to see figures when you have troops loaded too. Weird to see a message saying you have eight troops on board but there's no one there but your gunners
  8. Can't wait for the radar altimeter..... will be very nice to have. The mini should be nice too. When I get shot down it's usually a mig using guns or ground based AA guns.... chaff and flares prob won't help a lot with those.
  9. I have no problem firing guns or rockets with the stick triggers or keyboard. The weird part is that sometimes when using the mouse to aim I can fire with the left mouse button and sometimes I can't. But it will always fire with the keyboard or stick trigger. (After being armed of course)
  10. I popped my overall settings down to the default "Medium" which didn't hurt the overall visuals much and seems to be mostly "Ok" but still a bit choppy at times. Still usually very playable. I keep going back for "one more mission". I usually run with Razer Game Booster
  11. Thanks, found it. After I pressed the R key I saw what switch it was flipping. Now if anyone has a clue why sometimes I can fire the gun with the mouse button while aiming and sometimes I can't. Seems random to me ?
  12. In SP mode I regularly get wacked by a Mig 23 when I'm hugging the dirt which doesn't seem realistic to me. In a couple other missions I dropped off the requested reinforcements then I lifted off and hosed the heck out of the enemy infantry with the mini's. Then right after I head for base I get a message from the last of my guys saying they've been wiped out. Has happened a couple times and seems wrongly calculated. Other then that, can't stop playing this mission. Really is quite dynamic.
  13. Thanks..... Will give it a go..... Sometimes I get crosseyed trying to scan the keybind definitions. Now if someone can explain why sometimes I can fire the guns with my Lt Mouse key and other times I can't..... ?
  14. When I use the Auto Start I always end up with the Master Caution light on.... Doesn't seem to hurt anything but is there something else I should be doing to kill the light ?
  15. You know the mission has a good balance when even if you "fail" you want to go back and run it again.... and again. Nice job.
  16. The Track IR pause works for me anytime I hit the default (for me F9) key. Make sure you don't have a conflict set up in the DCS keybinds perhaps. And, in short, NO the DCS checkbox does not appear to work yet ! Use the Track IR pause function instead
  17. I tried the DCS option checkbox for Track IR aiming and the results were poor. If I do a normal disable of Track IR BEFORE I switch to the door gunner then all is good. If I wait till I am in the gunner position then the sight alignment gets wacky
  18. Has anyone else tried what worked for me ? If I disable Track IR (Default F9)BEFORE jumping to the door gunner the mouse aiming works normally for me .
  19. Very nice Suchacz ! After 20 hours I felt I was gaining reasonably consistent control over my landings..... most don't end in a broken bird now. Still have a ways to go to make it look as controlled as yours though but putting in the time definitely does eventually pay off guys.
  20. Ok. I jumped in and gave it a go. I seem to be ok with the main guns from either pilot or co-pilot position with Track on or off. Can't keep my head behind the door gunner sight though so only accurate in one position otherwise the front and rear sights no longer align and you have to shoot judging from the tracer impacts. No good. Edit: Went back and tried again. If I move to the door gunner with IR shut off (F9) then mouse aiming is good. If I use Track IR to aim first then shut it off (F9) I can no longer keep the front and rear sights aligned in mouse mode. Gun still moves with the mouse however. Edit: Tried again and I get proper mouse aim with the door gunner as long as I disable Track IR BEFORE switching to the gunner position.
  21. I had to struggle mightily with this but have to say that at 20 hours I was much better then I had been at the 10 hours some estimated for gaining some predictability and control. Still playing with curves a bit and feel the usefulness will vary widely with differences in equipment and style.
  22. Been playing a bit with the 1.2.5.xxxx and can't say that it's easier to fly but it definitely is more tolerant of a little roughness in the landings. I'm not leaving as many skids and tail booms behind me.
  23. If you're exploding then you are dropping faster then you think at the moment of impact. And you might have been at a slower rate of descent only a moment earlier. It does take some finesse and constant, rapid corrections at times. A little forward motion can help also during landing.
  24. Doesn't seem to make sense that it doesn't in the context of the original question but I don't know myself and would like to see that answer also
