  1. Check your control setup for the key selected for firing weapons as shagrat said. I had to re-map mine after the current upgrade. But if all your weapons circuit breaker banks have been flipped, an installed weapon selected and armed, it will fire
  2. My TR 5 is kinda red-orange you could say
  3. ..... Canopy scratches for sure. Got similar ones in the MI-8 too
  4. The little Quickstart Manual actually has clear step by step instructions for each of the weapon systems....... just saying
  5. R has continued to clear the Master Caution for me, before and since update.
  6. I also have the X45, still in almost like new condition. No kids around - ever. The rudder paddle on the front of the throttle is not bad but as soon as I got my new Saitek Combat Pedals I disabled that. The increase in fine control is like night and day. No comparison. Get pedals for helicopters for sure
  7. Good idea to scan the entire list of commands for others that have also been assigned incorrectly to the pedal-brake axis. There are probably a few more. Delete them too. Really, with the basic AP channels active, Roll-Pitch, and Heading, when appropriate, it should not be hard to achieve stable flight. Almost sounds like you might be pulling the power setting down a bit too much for maintaining flight.
  8. Sit in the copilots seat and look over at the pilots site when it is down. You can easily see the two hidden switches. Actually you can operate them with the mouse from here. But once you know where they are it is easy to hit the hot spots from the front of the sight. Once the switches are on they will stay that way as you subsequently raise and lower the sight
  9. The Track-IR Aiming option is key to getting good mouse control over the door guns for sure.... even if you don't have the Track IR If you are having trouble just take a look at it and change the checkmark from whatever it's currently at. I swear that I had it checked in one update and un-checked in another... ? One of them will work to give you sight alignment and mouse control.
  10. The three included "missions" are taken from the coming campaign but will receive some enhancements before then
  11. Like AlphaOneSix said seems pretty close to me
  12. I seem to find that if I change heading with the channel engaged you can do it readily with more pedal input. Then if I hold some pedal pressure briefly, the system seems to settle into it's new stabilized heading on its own. Try different maneuvers with and without the channels on and see what "feels" right to you. It will vary a bit for different people and flying styles. I feel like I'm using the Trim key less then in the Huey. Still experimenting though.
  13. I believe the new pilot up/down is Shift+M. And the two pilots are independent. And you can mouse activate the on/off and the reticle brightness from the front even though you can't actually "see" them. Also deleting your keyboard.lua will not lose all the existing assignments but will allow the new command slots to be generated by the system. You should only have to re-assign a few keys
  14. I believe that some people try to think of the system as a locked in "auto pilot" when they would be better off thinking of it as "flight stabilization assistant". The heading channel really does help during takeoff, landing, and hovering. You can maneuver with it on but best to shut off for most fluid control. Practice different flight situations with the channels on and off and you will see when best to use pretty quickly.
  15. The KA-50 has counter rotating main rotors and no tail rotor and a lot of onboard computer assist so in real life it is an inherantly stable one man gun platform. The Huey and the MI-8 though different in some ways are both hands on, seat of the pants, "real" old school helicopter flying. A challenge for sure but you can learn and master them and therein lies the reward.
  16. My bad. I tried to clear and not jettison. Usually more observant then that.
  17. Sometimes rearm works and sometimes not. I,m guessing it might have to do in part with how, in what form, the model was placed in the mission.
  18. I swore I was going to wait...... and I did...... almost a whole day. :) No Regrets ! :joystick:
  19. "I think a lot of this is I don't really understand how these birds fly, is the pilot really expected to constantly keep pressure down to counter these forces? Why isn't the computer doing it?" Taking off, hovering, landing, and other transitions tend to require a lot of attention and pedal. A stable cruise not so much. The two bladed Huey had little in the way of automatic aids to help fly it and only very basic trim. The MI-8 has more stabilization assist built in but still far from modern computer control systems. But the sense of accomplishment for the sim pilot is that much greater I think too. Amazing how much different you feel after 20 - 40 - 60 hours. So far I haven't found a time ceiling where you stop feeling like you are getting better. Took me 60 in the Huey to feel good about landing on buildings. Others much less time. Kinda like in real life. Great Sims !
  20. I think I tried to do that with the minis but then lost everything when I deleted the minis. Will have to try that with rockets.
  21. The Huey was kicking my butt at first but then you find the groove and it's really sweet and responsive. The MI-8 also has it's own unique requirements but you "get it" too after some period of practice. Each has it's own distinctive Trim / Auto Assist system that you have to learn and make friends with. And remember that the rotor turn in opposite directions in each helicopter. I get the impression that you are using "twist" instead of a good set of pedals and I honestly think that is going to be a problem and a frustration for you. Helicopters with tail rotors require a lot of pedal play at times and I don't think I could do it well without real pedals.
  22. All three helicopters in DCS utilize really different Trim and Auto Pilot/Assist systems. Figuring out what works best for you in each is part of the fun and it seems that there is more then one "right" way for the individual pilot to get the best results in each.
  23. There is no auto hover as found in the KA-50 but the Stabilization Assists and the upper right instrument on the Pilots Panel are pretty slick when you start getting used to them. Activating the Roll/Pitch and the Yaw channels help a lot with hovering
  24. I too have found that I can't take weapons off safe unless the cb's are on and the indicators are lit and then Alt-S works fine otherwise no go
  25. @ Esac Your link to the 400 page manual is an excellent complement to the one included by ED in the MI-8 docs. The ED one seems to have more on basic flight procedures. This one seems to cover equipment and instruments better. Great illustrations too !
