  1. I haven't looked since the intro of the Slick model to see the model name changes/additions, but I know I still fly existing missions with just the door gunners
  2. @zaelu Where are you getting the great black and white panel images.... ? Edit: I found them in back of the reprint of the MI-17 Flight Manual in the DCS MI-8 folder docs...... Thanks anyway This is an excellent source for flight procedures for this type too
  3. Some of you guys have way too much free time...... :pilotfly:
  4. Took this as far as I could in SP just to have a look...... Excellent scripting and voiceovers. Very immersive. Got my Huey to the FOB but everything stops there as the expected A-10 flight is never going to arrive of course... Really good job
  5. I was under the impression that the radio-nav system was not fully implemented yet. There is info in the quickstart about the VHF (com radio ?) but nothing about nav radio use I believe. For the moment in the MI-8 as said above I have been pulling a course line on the map then dialing the course reference into the HSI. Gets you there. Was good that Tusler gave us weapons for the time being but a full load makes for a heavy bird. Haven't been able to re-arm within the mission and change the loadout though. I trust you'll be able to straighten it out when you get back.
  6. My appreciation for this mission "The Helicopter Wars" by Wolle, just keeps increasing. Survivable from either side but not guaranteed. Random outcomes to events going on around you. Even playing SP you feel like your AI buddies are actually doing something and you're not in it alone. You can get taken out but you don't feel like your up against overwhelming odds. You can avoid fighting and just do SAR and troop Transport or get in it and shoot stuff along the way. Wonderfully replayable SP or MP. Love the MI-8 too but load her up and you really feel like you're dragging some weight around. The Huey's a hummingbird in comparison but won't carry the load of the MI-8. Really looking forward to seeing both evolve to "Final" release
  7. Yeah just draw a line with the appropriate map tool and you will get a course bearing and distance readout. Get you close enough anyway. Once the weapons are there it should be easy enough to delete what you don't want to get the weight down so you can carry a load of reinforcements. Edit: I don't seem to be able to adjust the weapons loadout but the weight is still low enough so you can get a load of reinforcements onboard. Usually your first call is for a downed pilot but for sure while on your way you'll get a call from someone for reinforcements. Just note the group name and find them on the map. Dialing a course in on the HSI will give you a mark to steer to. Hey it works and thanks for your efforts. This really is a well crafted mission for these helos and Wolle will clean it up when he gets back home from his travels I'm sure. In the meantime we get to play in a very dynamic mission. Watch your six. The fighters like to shoot down helos if they spot you. Easy enough to steer around the ZU-23's though
  8. The random events generate very well in the mission. The map works well for plotting a course without the radio in the MI-8. Definitely need gun pods on the MI-8 though. Lot of unfriendly folks out there.
  9. @Tusler Thanks for the effort to fiddle around with this mission and the advice from Wolle. Until the radio issue gets worked out (I think the system is not fully active yet), I just open up the map and get a direction to the unit referred to in the message. It works and once you get in the area they pop smoke anyway Edit: I can't seem to re-arm the MI-8. Since you are asked to strafe convoys and other things at times maybe the mission has to start with gun pods mounted. The re-arm/re-fuel commands seem a bit buggy at this time. The Hueys have mini-guns mounted by default too in this mission @wolle I tried to PM you the Quickstart manual pdf but can't see how to include an attachment to the message ? Maybe just going blind. The full manual is not available yet.
  10. I swore I was going to wait for the MI-8 till the inevitable year end sale but did not and will not feel ill used when I see it at 19.99. My choice, and am having a good time with it NOW. If I had seen the MI-8 on super sale at Steam a week after its release I would certainly have been royally ticked off however As well as these modules may sell compared to similar products, it's still a relatively limited market as software sales go and a struggle to keep a sufficient cash flow to meet expenses. Sales generate interest, cash, and expand the user base all of which require constant effort.
  11. It would be nice to be able to use the brakes on my pedals
  12. C'est rien Skull. Just cutting and pasting. Unfortunately I have too much free time these days.
  13. I posted a pdf with color photos and English notations here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=113390
  14. @ Wolle: Your mission is at the top of my play list for well crafted missions for these helicopters. Will be hard to wait for your MI-8 update but enjoy your travels
  15. Great video ! Is there perhaps a higher res version. This one show 240P for max res choice
  16. Any plans for switching one side to all MI-8's now. That would be great !
  17. I'll jump in and give it a try. I think the designers original intent was to switch the Russian side to all MI-8's when they became available. I know next to nothing about modifying missions myself at this time Edit: OK I gave it a try from the Russian side. The AI activity around the map seems to run and progress as expected. I don't have access to a radio command that allows me to load troops even though my base has them available. The Russian side uses all MI-8's for AI helos so maybe all user helos should be too. The other side is of course all Hueys. I did not try rearming to mount gun pods to see if that works. You are called on to do some straffing as well as SAR and Troop Transport. It really is a well crafted miz by the original author for the Huey and MI-8 Edit: I can load troops in the CSARandAM.miz but I can't seem to Rearm and mount gun pods here either. Nice of Wolle to offer some advice below this post
  18. There is also a checkbox in options that affects the centering after trim method.
  19. There are lengthy threads dedicated to the new operation of the pilots sight and other changes. Lots of info already posted for you
  20. The MI-8 seems to be much more sensitive to wind which I guess you would expect. And the Huey does "feel" better now I agree. Both are great examples of their type and era and give you a real appreciation for the machines and the men who fly (flew) them.
  21. I wanted to be able to print the annotated instrument panel sections from the DCS Product pages at a bigger scale so I copied them to a document with one section per page. Then converted to a PDF. Maybe someone else would find them useful too MI-8 Panels 9-8-2013.pdf
  22. Keep the Russian cockpit please..... and learn to "think in Russian". Seriously, an optional mod would be ok
  23. My Saitek controller ok too..... Did you delete the existing keyboard.lua and let it regenerate just for yucks...
  24. The CSARandAM mission was a good choice The "Helicopter Wars" would be more of the same goodness with more going on around you if you want to modify that one for us too.....
  25. True. And you have 19 times longer to relax and enjoy the ride down
