  1. I REALLY was going to wait but............. 99.6% downloaded now from Torrent
  2. Right, that's the one.... in the saved games\.... \uh-1h folder. Some people recommend deleting all the existing keyboard.lua folders but I just did the Uh-1H to start
  3. Ok..... You can't see it from the front cause it's in back but you can find the hotspot by moving your cursor around near the lower left of the info label. there is a good photo in another post You can see and activate it by looking over from the co-pilots seat.
  4. Numerous people were experiencing problems due to NOT first deleting their current keyboard.lua file for the Huey. This is an important thing to do The RtShft + M will bring the sight down but won't illuminate the reticle. This is a separate step / switch detailed elsewhere in these posts After an Auto Start you have to manually increase the throttle rpm's. You will also have to power up the Radar Altimeter (new overhead toggle at back) Overall I REALLY like the changes and additions to the Huey's flight model etc
  5. Don't forget to delete your previous keyboard.lua file as that can cause various issues unless re-generated for the new key commands
  6. An Auto-Start used to crank up the Throttle at the end but now it seems you have to do it manually.... which is ok
  7. You also have to send power to the instrument via an overhead switch or (Rt Shift - R). Then the On-Off knob works on the instrument. In a warm start mission it's already on but after an Auto-Start you still have to power the Radar Alt. And delete your old keyboard.lua or these new commands don't work. For the sight below you can activate the hotspots for the on-off and reticle intensity by scrolling around the front with your mouse even though you can't actually see the controls
  8. Thanks MadCat. The popup just says to turn the left knob on the instrument but that only works AFTER you've put power to it ( Rt-Shift R or your overhead switch )
  9. Mostly you just jump in and start poking at things, pushing buttons and twisting knobs. Not like you can actually break a real Huey. And of course read the posts from other guys. I didn't know about going in to delete the current keyboard.lua for the Huey which was a good thing to do. And it is still a Beta so I wouldn't expect a lot of info in docs that would just have to get re-written later. And this is one of the prime uses of these forums, to help each other out
  10. Agree. The more time I spend with the changes the better I like them. I also figured out how to turn on the Radar Alt after an auto-start (Rt Shift-R and have the low height setting off zero) Also after an auto-start you have to manually crank up the throttle it seems and wait 30 seconds or so till the low rpm goes out.
  11. After a short time with the update I have to say that I really, REALLY like the new flight dynamics. Discovered how to hit the hidden sight on-off switch as shown above. I like the sight Still haven't figured out how to turn on the Radar Alt after an auto-start if anyone can help with that The new Slick model is well..... slick
  12. Originally Posted by EvilBivol-1 To use the Pilot's sight you have to first pull it down (RSHIFT + M or click on the locking lever), then turn the sight on (click on silver switch behind the sight), then turn up the brightness (mouse roll the brightness knob on left side of the sight). We'll tidy this up of course, still a bit rough. ------------------------------------------------------------- I couldn't get the key combo to work but clicking on the lock lever brought the sight down
  13. I can see the throttle move when I operate it with the mouse. The pilot sight does work but with different controls as explained in another post I can't turn on the Radar Alt after doing an auto-start
  14. Got to check on some settings and things but I...... 1) Could not align the aim of the door gun sights 2) Think the power "feels" better 3) Radar Alt works on a warm start mission. Can't turn it on after an auto sequence start. 4) Feels like the Huey bleeds off speed better when you want to slow down Edit: 1) I had to check the box for Track IR Aiming in order to get the mouse aiming to work properly. Did not have Track IR on at the time. 3) In a warm start mission I can turn the Radar Alt on and off by turning the left knob. After doing an auto start, I can't turn it on at all ? 5) It does seem that the effect of small changes in pitch and power is better 6) I can lower the pilot sight with the mouse but can't get key to work. "M" will work on co-pilot sight however. No reticle in pilot's sight.

Thanks for the expanded response leroy1964. I think what you describe is something all us Huey fans can relate to and hope for. The graphics at least in the current DCS world might be a limiting factor but there is certainly talent out there in the current crop of mission designers so I think we will be seeing more that gives a bit of that "Nam" feeling as time goes on maybe just not in a tropical jungle setting. Just keep the damn Migs out of the trees and off my butt thankyou.....

Yeah... I'll be flying along minding my own business and suddenly I have no tail boom and my aerodynamics have taken a rapid turn for the worse.... oh well ?

I quite like the KA-50 etc but the tech level and challenges of the Huey get most of my time too. More in the way of era appropriate missions would be welcome. Plunking the Huey down amongst modern enemy aircraft and AAA gets a bit discouraging
  19. Very good...... and addressed the desire for updated info on both the MI-8 and the Huey I think. And I REALLY want the MI-8 !
  20. Saw that in another post...... really made me want that model..... NOW
  21. "...in the meantime, - watch this:" Well that really sucked......... Something else I have to have....... NOW
  22. There is an option also that effects the delay you have to re-center the stick. Good to try it both ways to see which you personally prefer. There is a bit of "art" involved in trimming. You do have to play with it and practice to get the subtleties worked out
  23. Except for the unrealistic Mig behavior when they come down to the tree tops with you, I like the variability and re-playability a lot. It's good solo play and also multi-play. When I first start I immediately load a squad of troops even though the first call is usually for a pilot pickup. Most of the time while your en route for that you get a call for re-enforcements nearby also. Now if we could just call for a pickup ourselves after wrecking the Huey..... that would be great
  24. The "Helicopter Wars" and variations of that mission also focus on SAR and Troop Insertion but you are armed and can also offer some CAS. At times I will drop my grunts off then hit the enemy they are engaging with my mini's.
  25. I print same size but grayscale output on my B&W laser creates white letters against gray background and contrast is quite low to my eyes. At some point I may have the time to create a spreadsheet version Thanks
