  1. I agree with everything you have said here. Regarding the SHAR, the Blue Vixen (FA.2) is most definitely still under tight wraps, that's for sure, and as you say, the RWR would be problematic; likewise for the Tornado GR, the Sky Shadow pod, etc. The Lightning, Sea Vixen, Buccaneer, Hunter, Jaguar, and Harrier Gr.1/3, in my opinion, would be fair enough game for DCS, based on the amount of information that is available, more than enough for a DCS FF module. But, wouldn't it be a perfect DCS world if all these and more were available as AI assets? Hint, Hint, CH.
  2. When the F-86 was released, it was way out of its depth DCS wise, then the Mig-15 came along. We had the Mig-19, also very limited. The Harrier Gr.1, Gr3 were vastly different from the AV-8B. The Gr.9 was in a class of its own compared to the AV-8B and would certainly have a place in DCS. The FRS.2 would also be a very competitive airframe. The Tornado in development is the German IDS, a very different beast to the Tornado Gr. 1, 1a,1b, and would require a lot of imagination to pass it off as an RAF aircraft. The Bucc is a superb prospect, one that I am surprised hasn't been picked up. The Hunter is in the league of the F-86/Mig-15, it certainly has a place. The Sea Vixen and Lightning would also be strong contenders, in my opinion, given the growing trend for 60's era aircraft. As RB are now sitting in their corner and withholding their toys, the opportunity is there for someone to pick up on the Harrier, etc. Regarding the PvE/PvP statement, I am unfamiliar with PvP as it does not interest me. PvE is a different matter; in PvE, the older aircraft have massive potential (Kola and Germany Map), so it's somewhat ignorant to say they don't. If the argument that older aircraft with early weaponry are non viable, then surely the C-101CC, L-39ZA, Mig-15, Mig-21, F-86, F-5E, etc, have no place in DCS? Why are we waiting for a C-130? The Mig-29A, a VERY limited aircraft, is literally just around the corner. The A-1E Skyraider is in dev, the F-104 also in dev, the OV-10 Bronco by Split Air has a decent following... PvP and PvE non starters by your definition.
  3. "We don't have a single British jet, even old stuff, as the British government simply doesn't grant access to that stuff. Both the Typhoon and Tornado we are getting are German aircraft. " Whilst the British Government may not release information, there is more than enough information available in the public domain. A potential developer would only have to contact museums (ala Tangmere Aviation Museum, which I used to volunteer for) or such organisations as the LPG or BPG, who have restored and "run" older aircraft such as the Lightning and Buccaneer, for unrivalled access to their libraries of Aircraft APs. As a former Buccaneer part owner/operator in the UK, we had in our possession every AP regarding the aircraft. We would have been more than happy to assist with a potential Simulation project. Stating that the British Government does not release the required information is somewhat moot. Whilst this sounds as though I am on something of a crusade, there really is no excuse for British aircraft of 50's/60's (Hunter, Sea Vixen, Buccaneer, Lightning, etc) and even 70's/80's (Jaguar Gr.1/T2, Tornado Gr.1/1a/1b perhaps even early F.3) era to be precluded from DCS as a high fidelity model. My question is... Where's the Recce capability? However, that's straying from the thread.
  4. To add to Kappa's superb post, maybe the addition of some AI Helos? NATO Puma, Wessex, Lynx, MB105, UH-1N Twin Huey. Including OPFOR counterparts. That sort of thing... Just my two penneth in support of Helicopter Assault scenarios. It would be nice to see more infantry/personnel additions.
  5. To be fair, if you got on the six of an EEL, you would have to hang on; she had a very respectable turn radius. RIAT 1987 Frightning Display Anyways, that is enough from me regarding the EEL, back to the 104
  6. The EEL from the F.1a through to the F6 enjoyed the ability to AAR, not commonly used on the earlier versions (F.1a to F.3 and T.4). The F.2's and F.2a's were mainly RAF Germany aircraft, and as with the Buccaneers AAR was considered surplus to requirement due to the short durations of flight to targets. The UK based Lightnings did use AAR via H.P. Victors, VC-10K's, etc. The EEL was only limited in time aloft by engine oil capacity and pilot fatigue. There were many 4 hour plus sorties flown by RAF lightnings... The aircraft would be a superb model for DCS despite its challenges. The cockpit is an ergonomic nightmare, and it would certainly be a high workload environment for anyone trying to fly it while staying ahead of the performance envelope. However, unfortunately, it would only appeal to a niche market within the DCS user base. Better chance as a free Mod or perhaps donation based ala Split Air's offerings. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I agree that the overall aesthetics leave something to be desired, especially the F.6... The T.5, in my humble opinion, was the more attractive variant.
  7. Kermit, I could debate your comments regarding the 104G vs Lightning issue, but to be honest, to what end? At the end of the day, they were two completely different aircraft intended for opposite roles, both hopelessly outdated/outmatched in terms of the current DCS aircraft module lineup. Reading your posts, it appears that the lighthearted "tongue in cheek" tone of my post regarding the EEL was lost in translation. Whilst I admit to being a huge fan of the EEL, I am also a huge fan of the Silver Sliver, and I am looking forward to its release in DCS. Peace to you fella.
  8. I think it's safe to say this mod has fallen by the wayside
  9. RF-101C per chance? Excellent!
  10. Thank you for the update, OneEyeRoss. From what I had heard, it was the old chestnut, "We lost all the files, hard drive crash, etc." Hence, the aircraft could not be worked on any further. Good news indeed that there is hope for further development after the Alpha Jet. Vex, I am not a prop person by rule either, but the OV-10 and when it is released, the A-1 Skyraider are superb aircraft with a lot of mission potential within DCS. While pretty and nostalgic, the WWII stuff holds no interest for me either. The Bronco is certainly a rare Gem.
  11. If you are referring to the undercarriage glitching issue, it is well known, it came in after a patch a while ago. Unfortunately, the Mod is not in development at the moment. This Mod has a HUGE fan base, hopefully the OV-10 might get some love once again in the future.
  12. Hi MrJollyRoger, I have seen this mod. I downloaded it a while back. Opened the box, looked inside, read the instructions, wept uncontrollably as my brain melted, and shoved it into a dark corner of my hard drive It looks wonderful in the screenshots, it really does. Kudos to the creator, but holy Hanna, for an ignoramus such as myself, the instructions are like black magic. Thank you for thinking of posting it here, though.
  13. Again, thank you very much, Rudel. Downloaded, will try as soon I can.
  14. Thank you for the heads up on the 104 fix, Rudel, much appreciated.
  15. I agree 100%. I was thinking along the lines of a static mod, with AI Gliders flying donuts in the sky but even then, your comment makes total sense; the AI would not perform correctly in the air.

Some of these resources could be recuperated by removing the misplaced brush from airfields, doing away with much of the airfield flightline equipment, the air racing cones, Hot Air Balloons, etc.
  18. This is a fair point, very fair indeed . I often suffer from Derp Brain. Thank you for your response Mazex. Thamiel, I have seen the infamous Ballooning activities, my first thought was "Who on earth would launch hot air balloons from the top of a hill?"... Forgive my ignorance, I have only been to one ballooning event and that was when I was 9 years old, Bath Balloon Festival in the UK. It was a very long time ago. They were launching from wide open Farm Fields... Of course, anyone with more experience can correct me, but I would have thought this would be the established way of launching balloons due to wind, etc. Thank you for your response Thamiel.
