  1. The ones I use most are the Mig-21, A-10C, KA-50, and the m2000c... every once in a while i fly the a10a/su25/su25t making the game more difficult because sometimes it's fun to do difficult things. but yeah, subjectively they are all equally good and bad...depending on who you talk to... that being said, the Mig-21 is very rewarding, just the right era plane that you can kill more modern fighters with it, but it still that... not flying a computer with wings... feel to it.
  2. I hope they bring out a hotas with more hats and axis than the warthog, i'd love something with the build quality of the warthog, with the physical amount of functionality the x-55 has without software...
  3. I just dragged and dropped, worked fine, got the same SSD you did. clicked cut and paste from my 256gb ocz directly to the 512gb samsung.
  4. also basically a 970 and a 780 are the same speed, the 780 is slightly faster in some cases, and the 970 in others... for the now, those two cards are really good value, especially if you go on ebay, you can get a 780 for around 100 USD, many 780 users moving to 980s...
  5. look at everything BUT memory amount and wattage the amount of memory a card has isn't as important as how FAST the card is... more MHz = better, more GB = not always better... SPEED = good MHz = GOOD!!!! more FPS = GOOD!! more ram = depends... http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-770-vs-GeForce-GTX-760 and in like 30 years of hard use, you might have saved a few $ on your power bill, with the difference in wattage... none of those cards are good enough for another 2 years... not even my 780 is... with a 780 you already can't run most games maxed out, with less than a 780 970, you'll be running new games on medium settings or less...
  6. yeah, with the way the pitch works right now, it makes it extremely difficult to refuel, the autopilot doesn't maintain altitude, and when you try to hold it level manually, it oscillates, because you slow down, and it pitches more, so you compensate, then you speed up to match the tanker, and you have to compensate again... causing oscillations... and then that deadzone (even if you have no deadzone set in the control options for your stick) in the center where the pitch authority(roll too) is either massively delayed, or just so subtle its hardly noticeable, you can't just see what your inputs are doing, but need to know what will happen long before you make the input, or you might overcompensate... probably the cause of those oscillations i mentioned earlier...
  7. Could start off with contact cleaner, make sure theres no particles you can remove where it's rubbing, not really lube, and from there try some very light chain oils, if you try and use too thick of an oil or grease, it can actually have the opposite effect, and make it stick instead of slide more freely.
  8. the mouse nipple thing does suck... the scroll wheel is actually two momentary switches, like the mouse wheel, one to scroll up, the other to scroll down, I use up for flares and down for chaff, dunno why, just think it's cool to roll a wheel to launch flares lol... and I don't use a powered USB hub, my motherboard has 3 usb controllers, my throttle and stick get one all to themselves... I've never had any ghosting... but for the most part I agree, except for me, it's the jitter on the potentiometers on the throttle... because they're like 256 position, and even the best pots aren't the most accurate... still, for the price, and functionality, you can't beat it... I'll probably pick up an x-56 just because my x-55 is worn out to hell...
  9. except that, in general, the people that are having studdering issues are using AMD FX cpus, or 5 year old locked intel cpus, and/or are not using 16gb of ram, an ssd, or at least something like a 960 or 680.... and those that are using good hardware usually get their graphics settings sorted out rather quickly... don't keep coming back multiple times saying "this game is broken, it's not my computer"
  10. RATO pods, flares, and the 800L drop tank on the mig-21 don't work on some missions, I haven't tried it on all of them yet.
  11. no... you have a decent machine, the people with problems are the ones who can't, or won't (for some reason) upgrade to at least as modern of hardware as you or I have.... like you can pick up an 2500K cpu for like 60$ used on ebay... it's way better WAY better than a 2600 non K, can overclock a 2500K to 4.3 ghz easy without upping the bclk or voltages. and GTX780s go anywhere from 100-300$...
  12. So why even the expense of putting the display in? seems to me, could have just left it out entirely, it's sorta like fake buttons on a boom box to make it look like it has more functionality than it does...
  13. the 2600 non-K can be o/c'd to about 3.8 ghz, but you need to up the bclk because the multiplyer is locked, that means upping the voltage, and that you need good ram that can handle a higher bclk... that also means you need good cooling, to handle the increase in voltage.
  14. hence why this is a "DCS Wishlist" as in... things we wish there were, not necessarily things that will be... the F-104 isn't as good as the mig-21... though it is faster... but I guess... mainly I'd want it because it's not as good as the mig-21... for some reason being the underdog, using the worst equipment possible, but still good enough to compete, is the most fun for me... basically the only requirements are a radar with IFF, and enough speed to catch up to an F-15... seems to me, the F-104 is the bare minimum...
  15. a 6700K cpus igp is about as good as a GTS250, and roughly the same for the amd chips, there are exceptions, some games run better than others, but in general, igps are about as good as a 50-70$ discrete videocard.
  16. you can put a truck or something on the ground, hit F7 till it gets to it, then press F5 to track nearest target?
  17. they had non-processed radars, no IFF or direction finding, just raw blips on a scope... and the f-100 did have a ranging radar, like the one in the f-86... if you want to call those radars, you might be technically right, but knowing there's something there isn't the same as knowing what that something is.
  18. 950 is not really that good of a card, the 960 isn't much better, they will run dcs, though you'll have to turn settings down a lot.. AMD CPU's have awful single-core performance unless you can get one that'll overclock to 5+ghz, so that might be an issue. if you can pick up a second-hand i5 motherboard and cpu, something like an i5-2500k, you'd get a lot more out of it. also make sure you get 16gb ram.
  19. yeah, if it's a revision, new hardware, not just a tacky colour scheme update... no jitter on the thumb axis would be amazing. I might just buy one anyway, since my x-55 is one of the pre-order ones, and it's starting to show wear... but that blue colour scheme is so tacky... and people whining about the two stage trigger, instead, the x-55/56 has two pinky buttons, the x-52 only has 1.
  20. here's what they are(1st video), and when you use them(2nd video). these are almost all entirely rudder rolls. 8KZSrUomEXk and here's a video of me using rudder rolls to go all matrix style on a m2000c aXGyXTgiCMM
  21. reason being, the early model 104s didn't have radars (at least none with iff), so in the end, they'd just sit with the mig-15 and f-86 mostly be used offline or in scripted missions, not really able to go on dogfight servers because of friend or foe issues.... would need at least the 104S, that's the first italian variant (I think)... the F-100, having its nose be entirely an air intake, has no space for a radar, so no versions of that plane had radars.
  22. at 2:05 that's with the afterburner off, it's at 100%, at 2:06 it's at about 103%, and then at 2:32, it's at 105%
